  • Am I Being Too Needy?

This post has been submitted anonymously.

I've been seeing my partner for 2 years by now. The relationship appears quite stable, but I've been feeling less and less secure.

Maybe I'll start with a bit about myself. My parents seperated when I was young, and I had been running around between two households since a young child. I was probably too young to realize it back then, but I went through major emotional abuse by one parent.

My current partner was the one that talked me into changing that unhealthy lifestyle and taught me how to start protecting myself from parents that clearly see me as a money provider instead of a child of their own. As corny as it gets, we grew to have feelings towards each other and began dating the same time I decided to cut ties with the abusive parent. More Here...

  • Sex Ed Horror Stories

I remember reading an article that made its way around the internet and profiled sex ed horror stories from various readers. It really showed the differences between the states--whether they chose an abstinence only route or touched upon protection. More Here...

  • Are You Too Picky?

My friend Amanda is extremely selective when it comes to choosing a gentleman to go out with. The girl has her standards, and as quirky and superficial as they may be, she doesn't really deviate from them.  I guess she has what you would call a "type".

Her type is largely Jewish. At least six feet tall and red hair. Also, the nose. The nose is the most important part. The bigger the better. Her hilarious thirst for a crooked (and preferably broken) schnoz has even led her to tell me that a guy that I was seeing (who was offensively good looking) that she didn't approve because his nose was too small. I used to think that her taste in men was funny, but now I wonder if these standards, which are so specific, could lead her away from a lasting relationship.More Here...
  • Why Don't Asian Guys Like Black Girls?

    This post was submitted anonymously.

First let me apologize for the context of the thread. I in no way intend to attack Asian men, but the question has to be asked.

I've never dated an Asian man. I had the chance once but things were complicated in my life and it was just bad timing. I have to say he was really hot, not to mention the ideal man to want to start a family with, and sometimes I think, "What if?"

I hate to say this, but I'm being honest. I originally always respected Asian men/white female relationships more so than white male/Asian female, only because AM/WF relationships tend to be more legitimate, but I won't get into that. Lately it seems Asian men have lost the fire they were once so loved for. What used to be an Asian male that found love with a woman because her attributes complimented him and matched the life he strived for, has become nothing more than an MTV obsession. And not an obsession for women, but an obsession for white women.

Datingish.com is a primary example of this. On any given day, Asian boards are bombarded with Asian men and their love for non-Asian (a.k.a. white) women. "How do you approach a white woman?", "How many white girls love us Asian men?", "Why white women and Asian men are the new thing," etc.

So I ask again, are Asian men racist, brainwashed, or is there another explanation? More Here...

  • Xanga/Datingish Commenters

I think it's easy to point out the regulars for anyone who uses Xanga religiously. These people behind their screens, who always have an opinion on everything- they slowly have become regulars whose comments some of us look for. We KNOW their comments have to be somewhere below, and we can already imagine what they might think. It's interesting to see these people's opinions, and more often than not, how they try to help a total strangers.

Without further ado, I bring some of my favorite, and some of the most noticeable commenters. More Here...

  • Is Bad Sex a Deal Breaker?

I feel like a sensible human being would say that sex is not a deal breaker in a relationship. And from a completely superficial standpoint, I would be inclined to agree. Sex, in terms of selfish pleasure, is not so important. But I won't lie. I have dumped a guy in the past because the sex was bad.More Here...
  • The Upside to Being Ugly

If there are downsides to being pretty, there are surely upsides to being ugly.

I don't know how many devoted Daily Show fans are out there, but I remember a segment where they showcased a movement that would protect "ugly people" from being discriminated against. You heard me. Ugly people deserve protection against discrimination too. Just like race, religion, gender, etc. More Here...

  • Friends with Benefits, Now with Kids

I have a dilemma, and it's stereotypical and cliché and something I know everyone will tell me to get out of unless I want my heart broken.

I'm having a friends with benefits relationship with someone right now (let's call him Jay). The thing is, I'm not too hung up about that. I just got out of a long term relationship a few months ago and while that particular relationship was over way before it was officially done, I still don't think I'm ready to delve into something new with someone, at least not officially.

The problem lies in the fact that Jay has a daughter--a two-year-old. From what I understand, the relationship between him and the ex (the daughter's mother) was over even before the daughter was born and because of the fact that the mother was, for all intents and purposes, losing it. She since has had a kid with someone else and is... kind of crazy (his words, not mine). As he explained to me, he hasn't had a girlfriend in a couple years. More Here...

  • My Lesbian Friend is in Love With Me...And I'm Straight

I didn't really understand how much this girl liked me until it was too late. Her love for me and my desire to be with anybody turned into something that it shouldn't have and ultimately destroyed our friendship. It resulted in a lot of awkward moments knowing that she had feelings for me and me attempting to not say anything around her that may be considered as flirtatious. It was overwhelming at times and drove us apart completely.  More Here...
  • The Downside to Being Pretty

Exploding across the internet is this article about the downsides of being pretty.

Samantha Brick, a claimed "good looking woman" and author of that article, talks about the negatives about being a pretty woman. She talks about how difficult it is for her mostly because of other women being jealous of her looks, making her work life difficult to advance with female bosses and dinner parties uncomfortable because friends supposedly leave her. She's never even been asked to be a bridesmaid - the sadness!

  • Do You Believe in the One?

When I was about sixteen my mother told me that she did not believe in "soul-mates". This amazed me for more than a few reasons. Firstly, my mother has never been divorced and is still married happily to my father. They got married when she was only nineteen and have just miraculously celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. So by all means I thought that my mother had found "the One". More Here...
  • What's Your Type?

As I start to get the ball rolling on the weekly fetishes, it got me thinking about what would be considered a fetish and what may be regarded as a passing fancy. Not all of us may have a strong sexual reaction to something, though we may find it very attractive. I guess in the dating world we would call them "things" or "types."

Oh I have a thing for tall girls. Oh I have a thing for chubby guys. Oh I have a thing for goth chicks. Oh I have a thing for artists. Etc.
