• OOPS! Embarrassing Dating Mishaps

  
  Life doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes, the unplanned surprises cause embarrassing – and occasionally humorous! – situations to occur.  Although these situations may not be funny when they happen, once a little more time passes, people often look back at them and laugh.  When two people first begin to date, their nerves around each other tend to be high, as both parties are striving to form a positive first impression. This is usually the period of time when the most embarrassing and awkward date moments tend to occur.  Below are five examples of embarrassing things that happened on dates to people I know.
  
  The Mix-Up.
  Bill and Susie met on an online dating website and were getting together for their first date.  Bill knocked on the front door of Susie’s condo.  Susie answered and invited him inside.  The two sat on the couch and began chatting.  Bill felt that they had a lot of chemistry, and, as they conversed, he slowly moved himself closer and closer to her on the couch.  Susie looked a little bit uncomfortable at his advances, and, when she felt that he had gotten too close, she asked what he was doing.  “I don’t think Susie would appreciate you doing that,” she said.  Bill was confused.  Just then, the real Susie walked into the living room; she had been in the bathroom applying her makeup the whole time.  Bill blushed.  Susie had never mentioned that she was a twin!
  
  What Smells? 
  Tim was on his first date with a girl named Angie, who he recently met at a party.  The two of them decided to meet for the date at a local coffee shop.  Tim was not the type of guy who dated a lot of girls, so going on a date was a nerve-wrecking experience for him.  He was worried that the nervousness would cause him to sweat, so he put on an excessive amount of cologne, hoping that it would cover up any perspiration that would develop under his armpits.  Unfortunately, Tim did not have a sense of how much cologne was too much.  When he arrived at the coffee house, Angie was already sitting at a table waiting for him.  He sat down in the chair across from hear, and as he sat, he noticed her wincing.  They started conversing about their lives, and, about ten minutes into the conversation, one of the coffee shop employees approached their table.  He asked Tim to leave the coffee house until he could get rid of his foul stench.  Tim was so embarrassed, and Angie and he decided to reschedule their date.
  
  What’s Your Name Again? 
  Ryan was making out with his date, Jackie, on a couch after their second date.  Their two dates together had been fantastic, and Ryan thought their relationship could have some long-term potential – that is, of course, until he accidentally called her by his ex-girlfriend’s name while they were making out.  Ryan had no idea why it happened; he claimed to no longer desire his ex and insisted that it must have happened out of habit.  Jackie wasn’t buying what he was saying, though, and abruptly kicked him to the curb.
  
  I see London… 
  Sarah and her new boyfriend, Miles, were walking in the downtown area of their suburban town.  It was a sunny, warm, and windy day, and Sarah had opted to wear a skirt that was on the shorter side.  While they were walking, Sarah noticed that a bunch of cars were honking at them.  Occasionally, guys would honk at her as she walked down the street, but not nearly this frequently and definitely not when she was with another man.  She shrugged it off and continued her stroll with Miles.  Eventually, a person driving by yelled out the window, “Check your skirt!”  Sarah looked down and saw that the wind had blown the back part of her skirt up; she had unknowingly been parading her underwear around the whole time!
  
  Clean up! 
  Jennifer and Todd met up at a bar for their second date.  Their first date had gone very smoothly:  they had met at a restaurant and spent hours talking about the intimate details of their lives.  They thought that meeting up at a bar would be fun, but there’s one thing Jennifer hid from Todd:  she did not drink.  In fact, she had never even consumed alcohol before in her entire life.  When they got to the bar, Jennifer decided to try drinking for the first time.  She was unsure of how many drinks she could handle, so she tried to keep up with Todd.  Six drinks in, Jennifer was starting to feel sick to her stomach.  She tried to hide this from Todd, and listened intently to everything he was saying to her, but eventually, she couldn’t hold it in anymore:  she threw up all over Todd!  Todd did not call her for another date after that.
