  • Your Favorite Form of Contraception

In the world in which we live in today, it's definitely best to be safe than sorry. In life, one should be cautious with almost everything you do. How you drive, who you call your friends, who you date and most importantly--how you treat your body.

But how many people actually do? When it comes to your sex life, what's your go-to form of contraception, if any at all?

As you should've been taught in high school, there are many ways to protect yourself when it comes to sex and the things that may accompany it. With the many choices of contraceptions we have, there should really be no excuse. Right?

I'll give you the Top 5 Best Forms of Contraception, according to Planned Parenthood:
    1. Abstinence- The ONLY form that is 100% effective.
    2. Condoms- The least expensive and easiest to obtain. Out of 100 women, 15 become pregnant with use.
    3. Birth Control (Pill, Patch, Ring Combo)- USUALLY these effective reversible methods of birth control protect 92 of 100 women from becoming pregnant with typical use.
    4. Progestin (Only Pills)
    5. Depo Provera Shot ("the shot")- There is no need to remember a daily pill. The shot is one of the most effective types of reversible contraception, with only three out of every 1,000 women getting pregnant with correct use.
Of course there are more preventive ways and some not-so-preventive. Like the "pull-out" method, that has had more people heading to the 24-hour pharmacy, than to the shower. Then, there are those that just have to look at other children and vow to wear a condom for life.

But which one is more suitable to you and your partner's liking? Do you prefer to feel the pleasure of no barrier? Or the mental calm of being more safe than sorry?

lol @ abstinence.  my friend teaches middle schoolers in an inner city school where they have an abstinence-only education policy.  she says that she sees kids getting knocked up left and right.  in fucking middle school!  and her state is above the mason-dixon line, ffs.  dunno what the hell has gotten into some people.

as for me, i've never had sex without a condom, and intend to keep it that way.  don't need the clap from some bitch.  (i have a friend who's banged over 30 girls, yet claims he's never had sex with a condom--though the accuracy of this statement is obviously impossible to verify.)

i think we can all agree that the best form of contraception is to just do it in the butt, though.  no babies are coming out of that hole anytime soon.

Planned Parenthood's stupid list of temporary fixes can suck it. For me, it's vasectomy all the way! I still think it's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

"Oh, but it's so permanent!" EXACTLY!!! Fuck fatherhood. I'd rather travel and spend my money on frivolous luxuries instead of a little snotty-nosed crotch dropping. Seriously, who wouldn't? I don't understand why people want/have children, to be honest. It makes absolutely no logical sense to do so.

My personality is a FANTASTIC contraceptive. ^_^

  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

@secretbeerreporter@xanga - the more i think about it, the more i don't want to have my own kid/s (though i would consider adopting)...but i'm more motivated by environmental reasons.  humanity is fucked and i wouldn't want to bring someone into the world who will get fucked along with everyone else.

  • secretbeerreporter@xanga

@TheNotoriousGOD@xanga - May I suggest some light reading for you? Read David Benatar's book called Better Never To Have Been: The Harm Of Coming Into Existence. Basically his argument is just what you said: humanity is fucked and it's wrong to subject another poor innocent being to it.

  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

@secretbeerreporter@xanga - lol.  i don't think i remember the last time any of my reading material wasn't a math paper (or textbook) or the news.  thanks for the suggestion though :)  i'll be sure to check it out next time i drop by b&n.  amazon's page for it seems pretty dark, haha.

  • secretbeerreporter@xanga

@TheNotoriousGOD@xanga - LOL. As someone who majored in math in college and attempted a Masters' Degree in it (and failed), I know what you're talking about on that one.

  • bbanmen420@xanga

Depo since I dont have to remember to take a pill cause I dont want a little monster running around, ruining my life.... And of course, mothers will probably get offended by that statement because they assume I am talking about them...... When I say kids would ruin my life, key word.. MY lol.. I have a "friend" who is crazy and has a kid (she is younger than me and I am 22) and her views on everything kid wise changed just because she decided to get pregnant without a job or anything.... Nice life eh?

  • Saridactyl@xanga

I've used the pill for the last 6 years. I would like to get an IUD but it's hard to find someone to insert one for me since I don't have any children. America and its stigmas..

  • Jenny_Wren@xanga

It *is* possible for kids to practice abstinence. I am all for educating them on all methods of birth control, just to be in the know--but I think it is destructive to assume that kids can't control themselves until they're older.

  • COONBUNNY@xanga

    my favorite is abstinence.
LOL jk i pretty much play russian roulette.

  • T3hZ10n@xanga

My favorite is being a responsible, capable human being and not having sex if I can't deal with the consequences nature intended as a result of the act.

Somewhat similar to what @COONBUNNY@xanga said, but you simply suck it up and deal with it if it happens (and no, that's not a reference to abortion).

Contraception is not my responsibility. If it were, I would've evolved that feature to come standard with the rest of the equipment.

(Yeah, I invented a brand new form of sarcasm... it's called "truth")

  • f5ye_angel5@xanga

my awkwardness seem to do all the work

  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

@secretbeerreporter@xanga - haha to be clear, i enjoy reading about math, so i'm not doing it because i feel pressured to do so.  in fact, i've been taking a lot more time to read since i graduated than i did when i was in grad school, since i'm not given an exact standard to which to adhere.

the additional extrinsic benefit is that i have an extra tool every time i learn something new.  just makes me worth that much more to my boss (and potential new employers).

  • happyobligations@xanga

i feel like birth control is a misleading title because aren't all these forms of birth control?

  • LupusInvictus@xanga

My preferred method includes having the dog on the bed...Because you know that the dog is going to get up and try to lick someone's ass when you are about to orgasm. Prevents male ejaculation every time!

But if the dog isn't around, sometimes it helps to say something like, "can we have doves at our wedding?" Also prevents male ejaculation every time.

I also heard that if the woman is on top and does 10 jumping jacks afterwards, then she won't get pregnant. I tried this once and I am pretty sure that is the night I got pregnant with my son...maybe I counted wrong.

@TheNotoriousGOD@xanga - @secretbeerreporter@xanga - Well it is a dang good thing you two aren't reproducing or we'd have a world full of kids who hate other kids.

  • Kill_GaryLarson@xanga

pulling out. 99.9999 percent effective in my case

  • secretbeerreporter@xanga
@LupusInvictus@xanga - Good thing I'm not some breeder bitch who mindlessly contributes to the overpopulation problem just because society says it's what you're supposed to do.
  • sunflowersforlove@xanga

I've always used condoms and the pill. I was dating this one guy for a very small amount of time, and we decided to have sex one night, he tried to not use a condom and his defense was that he swore he was clean. Yeah, because I'm going to take what you say to be 100% truthful. I'm not as worried about getting pregnant as I am about getting an STD.

  • articulate_silence@xanga

Condoms and pill. I don't take any chances haha! I'd really like to try the shot though, I have a friend who gets it and I would really like to forget the hassle of taking pills on a time based schedule -__-

  • greenteasinger@xanga

pill: convenient, effective, covered 100% by my insurance ;D

  • ShirleyD@xanga

If you're in  a serious committed/ trusting relationship..the pill only! I do not like the patches, IUDs, or shots. Too many harsh side effects/ horror stories I've heard. Like patches falling/ numbing your genitals. IUDs stabbing you and you losing your ability to have children. The shot making you gain a lot of weight. I'll stick to the pill. It isn't perfect with all it's messing with your hormones but finding the right one can do wonders.

If you're just messing around with people I would say condoms AND birth control (pills). Better bsafe than sorry if you're that horny and doing it with anyone.
  • nepenthium@xanga

Love the pill. Will not try anything else. Everything else seems too inconvenient or dangerous.

  • rpghero27@xanga

Two of my female co-workers use the NuvaRing.  My wife has a 5-year IUD.
