• Sweet Love Song Stuck In My Head (90's Indie Style)

  
  About a month ago, my new laptop I got for Christmas completely crashed so I had to take it in for repairs. Luckily, I still had the factory warranty active. In short, they had to replace my hard drive so I lost a lot of things that weren’t documents, my iTunes library included. Nearly 10,000 songs gone, Gone, GONE!

  I got my laptop back last weekend and have since begun the process of reconstructing my library. One thing I retrieved was the entire Neutral Milk Hotel discography, complete with the all EPs, live recordings, and demos. One of the first Neutral Milk Hotel songs I ever heard is on their Unreleased Demo #1 called, “Love You More Than Life”. The song is recorded in Lo-Fi creating a sound that beautiful and genuine, yet eerie.

  Neutral Milk Hotel were an indie band active during the 1990’s. Their most popular album, In The Aeroplane Over the Sea, was the second and final full-length, studio album released by the band. The album’s iconic cover features a character with a woman’s body and a tambourine (or potato?) head, comically debated over on forum websites such as 4chan.
  
  Frontman Jeff Mangum has been compared to Radiohead’s Thom Yoke in that his popularity arguably well exceeds the rest of the band, giving the group the internet-popular nickname of Jeff Mangum and the Neutral Milk Hotels.

  “Love You More Than Life” is a sweet song that is cheery to listen and sing along to and it mixes well with the sound of rain outside. It brought back a lot of great memories of two winters ago when I would listen to it on repeat walking to and from class. This song is absolutely wonderful and you can (must) check it out here.
