In searching for words for 20 Relationship Words That Don't Exist In English, I came across a short story that struck me with its simple beauty. Published in the Susquehanna Review, "Twelve Words That Don't Exist In English" is a nonfiction piece that deals with author Jessica Weber's first love.
When I was younger, I walked around with my nose constantly in a book. Since attending college, I read for pleasure far less. That said, I still love to spend a day curled up on my couch with a book - although lately, that book is on my iPad.
I love to read because I love the stories, whether they're about a teenager in England or a dying adult in Texas. I read all genres. Still, one of my favorite parts of any book is the romance that sometimes develops between the pages.
I don't know if I have a favorite. I do love the one revealed in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which I won't reveal since I don't want to ruin the book for anyone who hasn't read it. But there's just so many from which to pick and choose.
Especially because love stories enter our lives from all corners. They come from books, from movies, from TV shows, and even from real life. Still, my favorite types of love stories are books, because they allow you to enter each characters' mind in a way that other media won't always allow. Although, the real-life stories are also absolutely adorable.
What's your favorite love story - in a book or in real life?

The one I'm working on right now.
Beauty and the Beast. It's probably cliche, but that has been my favorite love story for as long as I can remember.
I really enjoyed the parts in The Lovely Bones about Ray Singh and Susie Salmon, and Lindsey Salmon and Samuel Heckler. Those were really adorable and the author captured every little feeling of infatuation and falling in love perfectly.
I reallllly enjoyed the bond between dog and master in Where the Red Fern Grows... read it in 5th grade or something and ended up crying in front of the whole class when we got to the part where the dogs died :( That's trueeeeee unconditional love.
I am not a love story kind of girl. The closest I come are The Piano and Snow Falling on Cedars.
I like sweet love stories. an exception would be the scorpion king. something about a warrior character bursting with testosterone that fights villains and overcomes obstacles while putting his life in danger to rescue his woman is very passionate and romantic to me
raw naked passion!:D
Mine!
Have to say my favorite modern love story is Willow and Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So romantic, so loving. Just imagine that the blue shirt scene (Tara being killed) never happened. I like to think that they stayed together, grew old together, and adopted another Miss Kitty Fantastico.
Most definitely nothing teeny bopper, Harry Potter, Nicholas Sparks, Stephanie Meyers, or EL James lols.
Probably Jane Eyre because while it was a romance story, it was also an empowering feminist one.
modern day romeo and juliet.
im inspired to write a story about it...
@xhalesx@revelife - I'm a guy but I too love Beauty and the Beast. There's just something about Belle. She has more...substance....than other 'Disney Princesses'.
@accumulations@xanga - love this answer! I agree. love that part.
@xhalesx@revelife - funny, i was listening to the beauty and the beast's theme song as i read this blog and was going to answer beauty and the beast but then i read your comment.
50 Shades Of Grey
*prepares to be lynched*But no really... I'm serious. And The Vow. And PS I Love You.
@andweknowthis@xanga - Can't agree with "50 Shades" 'coz I actually never read it (but ALL my sisters loved it. They're all obsessed with Christian (is that his name??) lol), but yes! "The Vow" and "P.S. I Love You" were great love stories. There's this movie from Singapore called "The Leap Years" that has a beautiful love story as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV87DpGHCwQ A must watch (IMO). :)

I'm not sure if I have a favorite. those are just some of the movies that came into min
Pride and Prejudice! Mr Darcy
Dear John and The Notebook, but I'm reading a great book now that I would consider a love story called “Tell Me When It Hurts” by Christine M. Whitehead. You can get check her out and get the book right off of her website, http://www.christinewhitehead.com. Thanks again for the post and everyone's favorites, I've been looking to add a few more books to my must read list and might check one of these out that I've never read!
I never understand who think Romeo and Juliet is a great love story. They meet, a few days later they have sex, a few days after that he kills her cousin, then they run away and kill themselves...how is that in anyway a good love story? It's just a story about really horny teenagers who over react and do a lot of stupid things.
Anyway, I have way too many love stories I really like. Princess Bride, Don Juan Demarco (starring johnny depp and marlon brando), The lake house, and stories where the guy waits and fights for a long time to get back to the woman he loves are more the stories I like though.
My favorite love story is actually my parents'. They met when they were 3(dad) and 4(mom) years old, and my dad asked my mom to marry him. She replied with "sure, when we grow up." They've been through hell and high water, but they're still so in love it's like they're still teenagers when they're together. Even this evening, my dad just starting singing a song he wrote for my mom and started dancing her around the kitchen.
I know it's pretty weird, but every time I think of true love, I can't think of fiction, I think of my parents. The haven't had a storybook life, but they have had True Love on a much more awesome scale.
