  • Have You Ever Lied About Dating Someone?

    Talk about strange.

According to Wetpaint Entertainment, Crocs co-founder George Boedecker was arrested on August 12 in Boulder, Colorado on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Boedecker was found asleep in his Porsche that Sunday. But when question, he told police that it was in fact his "batsh** crazy" girlfriend Taylor Swift who was driving.

This, of course, is a complete lie. The 22-year-old recently confirmed rumors that she was dating Conor Kennedy, Robert F Kennedy Jr's 18-year-old son.

I can't imagine why on earth Boedecker would falsely claim that he was dating the "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer. Perhaps he was still drunk when the police found him.

But if Boedecker is stupid enough to lie to the police about dating a famous pop star, I'm sure other people have lied about dating some of us regular folk. Thankfully, this has never happened to me or anyone I know.

So my question to you is - have you ever lied about dating anybody? Has anyone ever lied about dating you? Why?

I have said I was dating someone I wasn't so certain people would stop asking me out and bugging me on a daily basis.

@Foodhog@xanga - HA! That sounds familiar.  I think many of us have done that for the very same reason.  So, I guess to answer this question Sasha (the author), I have to say yes.  I think the "why" speaks for itself.

I have actually had other people lie about me lying about dating a third party.

It was this really dramatic kid I knew in high school. He told everyone that *I* told everyone, that I was dating my former best friends current boyfriend. I wasn't (nor had any desire to, nor did I tell anyone I was), but she, of course, believe the kid and confronted me in the middle of chemistry. So stupid. All of it.

Yeah, but I never mentioned a name. I've lied and said I was in a relationship so people would leave me alone though.

I told the lawn guy at my old apartment complex I was engaged because he wouldn't stop asking me if I liked chocolate.

yeah, i'm actually a virgin and have never kissed a girl before, or even asked one out.  also, i'm 40 and live in my parents' basement and watch star trek and am unemployed.

the sad thing is that i met a guy who i think met all those criteria--maybe not those in the first sentence cause we never chatted about that stuff.  he seemed largely normal too, which was the strange thing--except that he drove with me all the way to fucking san luis obispo from the bay for a fencing tournament, and admitted to me in the car that he was really going cause he met a girl there (who was half his age) ONE YEAR EARLIER.  i asked him if they hit it off, and if so, why they weren't seeing each other already. he said she probably wouldn't even remember him.  fucking creepy, anyone?

anyway, to answer the question, i think i'd be more likely to say i'm *not* seeing someone even if i am; why would i actively cockblock myself?

Well...according to the 60-year-old who is persistent with me, on the third day he met me he claimed me and him were in a "relationship" when he never even asked and when he did, I would constantly reject the miserable soul.  I wouldn't say it was a lie, just that he's delusional to assume that we were going out.

I haven't had people make up that much rumors about dating me, but I've had people make up rumors and lies about me being a slut.  I've had a couple of guys who claimed that I've hooked up with them when I most certainly did not even come close to touching them like that.

There was this one guy who had herpes.  He told his on/off girlfriend that he hooked up with me (when of course we didn't -- he was too forward and, duh, he has herpes).  She contracted it from him and they have a kid together so they're working it out.  Anyway, one day she contacted me on myspace and asked me if I had hooked up with that guy she's with and if I did I needed to get checked.  I told her I definitely did not, thank God, and then she said she knew that he was lying about hooking up with me just wanted to make sure I got checked.  I told her thanks for the concern, I definitely definitely did not at alllllll.

I have no idea who I'm currently dating. And no, I'm not lying.

yup.. thats what my bestbud was for =)  I was in grade 11 and this was a girl in gr 12 after him like a meth addict after their next fix.. He came and got me out of class one day and asked me for a favor.. I said sure.. he said "just play along" before I could ask what was going on this girl called his name and nearly came running down the hall. Out of no where he kissed me, and i mean "kissed" kissed, (hey it was a big moment for me, my best friend and the one of the hottest guys in school was also my first major kiss).. He turns to the girl, who is fuming, and says "what? you didn't know I have a girlfriend?" I thought she was gonna slap him.
i normally don't condone lying, but that time it was worth it =)

I have had someone lie about dating me...he really liked me, but he was younger than me, and I was really into another guy...well, he told the guy I was into that we were dating. Had a tough time trying to convince my crush that I was indeed single and that the younger guy was crazy...

  • JusticeCho@xanga

Hmm I don't usually say it outright that I'm dating someone, but I've set my facebook profile to either in a relationship or married before to give the impression I wasn't single even though I was.  Also I often say things oddly, or incorrectly and it confuses people, relationship status included.  Generally I'm not looking for someone so having them misunderstand is no biggy to me.  Though I've never lied about dating someone in particular that I wasn't actually with.

  • jenigrins@xanga

I lied so someone about the status of my happiness in my relationship. I had feelings for this person and when they asked me how my relationship was, I said I wasn't happy.

  • loneshadow_wolf@xanga

I don't lie about my relationship status. The truth will come out about it sooner or later so I don't see a point. I'm not sure if anyone's lied about being in a relationship with me since while I have been played before, I'm not sure what exactly happened or what was said by the guy to other people. There are times when I get into a relationship or get out of one and don't make a huge announcement of it. I just let people assume what they want until they ask me straight out.

  • stevenguyenblog@xanga

No, that's pretty pathetic if you lie about dating someone.
