We all have different ideas on what we find attractive. Some people prefer short folks or people with blue eyes. Other people like a particular ethnicity or race. Take my friend, who we'll call Erin. She's Korean-American, and adamantly refuses to marry a non-Korean because she wants her parents and future boyfriend to be able to communicate.
But since we met 3 years ago, Erin has only gone for black guys. All of her recent boyfriends have been black. And she has flat-out told me that she doesn't like Korean guys.
My father is another example. When I was debating on what to major in,
I asked him how he chose his Asian History major. His response? Because he liked Asian girls. In retrospect, I didn't really need or want to know that about my father. But my mother is Japanese, so I guess it worked out for him.
Since I'm half-Japanese, people often ask me if I like Asian guys, and I do. My sister, however, hates them. We think it's because she's 5'7 and I barely scrape 5'4.
Japanese guys, on the whole, are kind of feminine. They're skinny, don't really work out, and have delicate features. They also average about my sister's height.
So, while I find them feminine, they're still a few inches taller than me so I think they're cute. But they're too girly for my sister.
That said, I don't prefer Asian guys, or any other race for that matter. At least, I don't think. I've hooked up with people all over the spectrum. But then again, all of my boyfriends have been Hispanic, so maybe I do have a pattern.
Do you have a ethnic/racial preference in romantic or sexual partners?

i don't have a racial preference. but the kinds of traits that do attract me... skinny, into politics, liberal, a total nerd... so far, that's been only white guys.
I dont have any preferences, just traits I'd like in a man. In retrospect, I realized a majority of boyfriends/guys I liked before I married were hispanic but that's mainly because the area I live in is predominantly black & hispanic.
I'm Asian. And I've always dated and hooked up with white guys. sometimes i think my problem in failed relationships is going after only white people. the thing is, the white guys are the only thing around. and any asian guy i've met already has a girlfriend. though i'd really like to try and date an asian. the only time i've come close to a different race was hooking up with a half-indian half white guy. other than that it's always been white. i've had a ton of black guys try to get with me but for some reason, i'm not attracted to black guys. i used to have a white friend who was all about black guys when she was alive. i also have this black guy friend who has only ever dated white girls.
it really makes me mad when people get po'd when i say i'm not interested in black guys yet they're allowed to say they're preference are Asian girls. it's the same thing: preference. if people can prefer Asian girls I can prefer not to date black guys.
I'm mixed, and I go for white guys. Particularly emo white guys. It's just my type, always has been. Oh, I guess hispanics are okay too(: I liked one of those once. But I cannot under any circumstances be attracted to a black male, never have.
I happen to find hispanics more attractive than others, but I do have standards. I won't just go after any hispanic guy.
I go for whoever's not a complete bitch, and there are bitches in all races.
I'm Asian, and although I used to date mainly multiracial/ white guys, lately I find myself being attracted to and dating Hispanics.
I don't feel like I have a particular preference. I mean, I can say that I like the looks of a few different types of people because I like their physical traits, but that would be splitting hairs. I would date a guy from any ethnicity as long as we shared some kind of connection and such. ... But, not to be a prude, I can split some hairs here. I think most asian guys are attractive (just overall). I people of germanic ancestory because of their sharp features too. *shrugs* I like details, more so than race .... I've dated a decent range of ethnicities, so I don't even see a pattern there.
i prefer not to go for "asians" (i.e. yellow rice--brown rice ok) but i think that's just cause i overdid them in grad school. now that i think about it, i don't think i've dated one since last year. that's just coincidence, though. my only real preference is that i don't like accents, so foreigners are out.
on a related note, i have realized that a lot of yellow girls will claim to be racially open, but refuse to date yellow guys. seems a little contradictory there. anyone else observe this?
I've been attracted to men of every race, but the only non-white I've ever had anything with (we didn't date, exactly) was half white and half Korean.
Most of the men I'm attracted to are white, but definitely not all. It wouldn't have bothered me to date someone of a different race, it just didn't happen.
Guys from Spain are hotter than hell!!
yeah, I like Russians, especially the blonde ones.
I don't have an active preference, but I have ended up with more Asian girls than any other. This environmental, not preferential. Higher population % of one particular ethnic group = higher probability of me being with someone from that ethnic group.
There shouldn't be racial differences...however, I've never dated an Asian man.
I'm mostly just attracted to Latino men, especially short latino men. I don't now exactly why, I dated white guys in high school, but then once I dated a Latino guy I never went back, and now I"m married to a short Mexican. I think for me there's probably a cultural aspect to the attraction, cause i tend to be interested more in recent immigrants than in Chicano/Americanized guys. Who knows how attraction works! And I'm as white as can be, LOL.
@TheNotoriousGOD@xanga - Yep all too often.
Hmm I tend to go for Asians. I don't think there is any particular reason as to why I do. I guess I just tend to associate with Asians more than any other race and generally have more in common than with say white girls. Although, I have been attracted to and probably asked out a girl of every race at one point or another, just always get turned down.
I'm Asian and I'm mostly attracted to Latinos :)
i'm chinese. i came to the states when i was 12. from middle school till the end of sophmore year ive only liked and "dated' chinese guys, and never fathomed that i will date white guys(hs i went to is 60% asian). i fell in love with a white guy when i was 16 and ive only dated white guys from then on.
Asian guys all the way.
Nope, don't really have a preference and by that I mean "Oh I only date THIS certain race/ethnicity". However, I do sorta lean towards Asian guys (I'm Asian myself).
@PyroRett@xanga - Too many mullets....
Meh, I've only dated white guys (and a girl, but that was... blah... too long to explain). I typically don't find men of other races physically attractive. Plus I grew up in a 95% white town. Where I am now, it's pretty dark, but even if I wasn't married, most of these guys are... um... somewhat stereotypical seeming. We've got blacks, Hispanics, drugs, and guns.
And what is it with the men wearing dresses around here? O.o
I seem to go for guys with British/Irish/Scottish heritage. I don't know it until after I get to know them, since I've only dated Americans, it's not an accent thing, or even that I think they are hot. It just seems to turn out that way. They must seem familiar somehow, since that is my ethnic heritage too.
although some white men are attractive, if he stood next to a sexy black man, I'd notice the black man more. black men are generally taller and when they workout, they seem to be chiseled like a gladiator. other races have buff men, but muscles on black men just look hotter to me. I'm asian. I think the black men that I'm attracted to aren't really attracted to me since I'm petite or I wouldn't know since they haven't flirted with me. the half black guy that I was into said that he liked me, but judging from his exes, they had gigantic booties while I'm about a size 3. some might prefer petite women, but usually average height or not so tall guys prefer them. I saw this petite couple and they are cute together, but it isn't for me. I like them tall with athletic bodies like bball players. damn those bball players' arms are so toned and hot. I like light skinned asians like those kpop stars-the rapstar, T.O.P
caramel skin tone is hot, but I usually prefer that on mixed black/white guys. hm, some tanned skinned japanese guy from a jrock band is cute. it depends.I don't like tanned white guys. I don't really find pasty white guys that appealing either. I guess I don't really prefer them and probably find a few attractive. the tanned guys that I like are the half brazilian japanese men. omg they are hot. however, I don't personally know of any. I'm just saying from the few brazilian/jap models that I've seen. I like mixed cherokee indians, especially jason momoa and johnny depp. they are the only two that I know of lol so I can't really say that most are attractive. I like a few races from here and a few there. I just know if I find him attractive when I see him. I like tall guys because then I'd have to arch my face up to look at him with adorable puppydog eyes
I don't like staring at a guy with the same or slightly taller than me eye level
it just doesn't turn me on. I like straining my neck to kiss a tall guy
then I might miss and barely peck him on the cheek
so I go for another kiss
I also like how when he holds my hand, my hand reaches up to hold his. I like feeling like a cute doll
jason momoa's wife is about the same height as me. omg they are such an adorable couple.
I do not have so much a particular racial/ethical preference but more of a physical traits preference. I like lighter hair colors (especially brown and red shades), smooth hair texture, lighter color eyes, rounder eye shapes, full and defined arched eyebrows, high bone structure, slimmer nose, high degree of facial symmetry, smaller lips, smooth complexion with some facial hair, beige to light skintone, and 5'9+ in height. It just so happens men with Nordic or Western European ancestry tend to possess these characteristics more than other countries, so that's who I usually am attracted to most of the time.
On the whole though, past the superficial qualities, I really just prefer someone who is on the same emotional and mental wavelength and have similar educational background as me.
