Sometimes, being in a relationship is awesome. Other times, having a boyfriend is the last thing I want. Here, are 10 times that I LOVE being single.
10. Free drinks, accepted guilt-free.
9. The ability to date and fuck as many men as I like, just because I can.
8. Last-minute vacay with the girls? Yes, please!
7. Guys like to pay on the first date, so lots of free meals are involved.
6. I can realistically imagine my future with a wealthy, famous, hot celebrity. (OK, maybe not realistically, but it's a
tiny bit more possible if I'm single.)
5. Regaling my friends with tales of my crazy nights, while my coupled-up friends stayed home and watched a movie with their guy.
4. I can have the TV all to myself. At least my roommates won't protest my
Sex and the City marathon.
3. No obligation to care about any sports season. Specifically, football and baseball, since I can't stand either of them.
2. I have the bed ALL to myself. Nobody to complain about stealing the blankets!
1. I can plan for the future without having to consider someone else in it. Teaching English in Cambodia? Great experience, because there's no boyfriend to leave behind!

Um no.
Women like you are fucked up.
shes fucked up? I can attest to all of these, minus number 6 because i'm too much of a realist to mentally date a celebrity lol. and maybe the free meal part..I don't like dates unless I really like the person in the first place.
While being single has its perks, I by no means think that these are the reasons you should be boasting about. It just makes you sound like you're demeaning men as a way to get "free" things. Being single should be about being able to take care of yourself and be independent--not leech off of other men.
Do we have to have these "reasons I like being single/reasons I like having an SO" posts every couple months? It's getting pretty old.
i have never bought a drink for a girl in my life before, and i haven't paid for more than half of a meal in forever. guys who find it necessary to do those things have no personality, which is why they need to compensate by proving their worth through money. then, of course, they get fucked by girls like this who are really just out there to mooch off of pussies. yet they will keep doing it, not only wasting their money, but also perpetuating this system.
@hushcenter@xanga - your attitude is so hot. we should hang out sometime.
@forever_musing@xanga - i resent your remark about being self-absorbed. why does liking being single have to imply that?
@TheNotoriousGOD@xanga - Being single doesn't imply self-absorbed, the fact that she had multiple points about how she "doesn't have to share" implies that she is rather self-absorbed. It was all about her. Being single is in no way an indicator of being self-absorbed in and of itself.
I still have yet to buy a girl at a bar a drink.
Sure, I pay for first dates, so you have me there, but all you're simply getting at is materialistic self entitlement, which, most females in their 20s is ALL about, so I'm not surprised by any of these:
1. Fuck bitches2.Fuck bitches3. ???4. Profit!Reasons why I like being single:
Honestly, I can't tell how seriously anyone really takes themselves here... frivolous lists be frivolous, yo. :)
vacay sounds gross like vajay or a decaying vaj. so single girls have vacays
I know you mean vacation, but it is not an appealing slang term.
free drinks laced with date rape drugs possibly. no, thanks. I don't drink alcohol anyway:P I'll take free smoothies
but I'll buy my own regardless.
and no way to free stds/warts or whatever else. if he wears a condom, but his testicles are infected by stds, then won't it still spread? or what if the stds are lingering in his pubes, so he can thrust it onto her despite "protection." the thought of random sex with guys remind me of sewer rats, who have been crawling in every underground hole, pun intended, even if they say that they are "clean." guys that one gets to know better, then have sex with can still be diseased lol but that's my own way to deter myself from casual sex. not my type of fun. I'd rather couple up and stay home and get cozy with a guy that I adore than have wild nights dancing with random drunk creeps around.
you can be in a serious relationship and not live together, so you won't get annoyed about hogging up the blankets. only live together when you're ready to share. I'm in a relationship and don't live with him. I often buy things for myself. everything is mine, mine, mine. he doesn't really care if I don't buy things for him. I take pics and share the things that I bought for myself. he likes me, so he finds everything that I do cute even if I'm selfish. I buy lots of clothes and shoes, then show him what I bought
guys are visual right, so he is satisfied with the visuals that I share. so I have my own way of sharing. some might think I'm a stuckup diva, but my bf loves the way that I am, so we're compatible and no complaints. if you're happy single, then so be it. if you're happy in a relationship, then alright, be together. each has their own perks:)
You know what I like about these posts is that it is no way saying that single is better than anything else....it's just saying she can see the positives in her current situation...yet everyone with a partner gets defensive. Retract the claws guys....I like all these things and more about being single and I like being in a relationship if I'm in one :)
Hahaha.
In all seriousness though, I really do love being single and, at this point in my life, I prefer it to being in a relationship. I like the total sense of independence that comes with singledom and I really do enjoy just doing whatever I want whenever I want without worrying about how it might affect someone else. I tend to be more spontaneous and adventurous when I'm single and get out more resulting in me meeting a lot more people. I'm dating right now, but actively avoiding an actual relationship. That said, different strokes for different folks.
My question is why are all the taken ladies getting so defensive??
hahahahahaha no.
People on here are getting WAY too defensive. I sense some underlying issues? :o
Relationships always cause me too much stress. Being single I'm free to do what I please, and don't have to deal with someone snoring & stealing my blankey -_-
9. The ability to date and fuck as many men as I like, just because I can.
fuck yes
1. I can plan for the future without having to consider
someone else in it. Teaching English in Cambodia? Great experience,
because there's no boyfriend to leave behind!
fuck yes
People are reading into this post a little too harshly. There is nothing wrong with this girls expressing how grateful she is for some of the "perks" her current marital status has. Why shouldn't people reflect on what the positives things that make them happy are? I don't think this girl is destined for misery or is self absorbed because she enjoys free drinks/dinners and is confident enough to spend a night alone.
To those of you who disagree, "to each her own" and for the author, I like all these things about being single, too :)
Top Reason out of my 10 I had to give you of why I think you're full of shit.. *AHEM* Top reason #1, you are full of shit.
Are people forgetting this girl JUST submitted a post about why she likes having a boyfriend? I took this as her giving the other side of things. Appreciating the perks (regardless of how silly, dumb, whatever they may be) of both being single and being in a relationship. Some comments on here seem to be overlooking that.
7, I always offer but I'm not going to insist on a first date that I pay if he wants to. If he thinks I'm playing some game...well, I wasn't. If we continue dating, there will be plenty of opportunities for me to smile and tell him to put his wallet away, I got it. Only reason I might sometimes come off like a moocher is because I'm not going to argue with a guy about paying after he insists. It's his money, if he wants to spend it on me, who am I to tell him no? I just say thanks.
Number 1 is the only one I truly relate to. Relationships can limit you, which is fine if you love the person, but it's also nice when you are single not to be limited at all.

Just have to be.. there...
oh boy. oh i like #8
@QuantumStorm@xanga - This List = This
Yup, being single means doing whatever the fuck you want when you want it and with whomever. Its a pretty awesome situation to put oneself in.
Man, don't hate on the otters, we loves the otters.
Keep writing, Sasha.
I got a laugh out of both this and the last list!
