As women we often have this inner link to our core that tells us when something isn't quite right. It may come in the form of déjà vu, dreams, or just intuitive empathy. It's often hard to explain and almost impossible to describe to get a complete understanding. It's a nagging feeling of knowing, but not really knowing. But we feel it.
Sometimes the feeling is followed up by action. Too often, it gets ignored. But on many occasions, it has been our saving grace. Some call it, woman's intuition; others, inner wisdom.
During relationships are when we are most grateful to have that silent alarm to put us on alert. It has put my thoughts or worries into perspective many times. But there is no one tell-tale sign that you look out for. It's just a feeling you get.
For instance, I can usually tell when something's wrong or out of sorts when I have this strong throbbing in my belly. Almost to the point where it stifles me and my heart starts to pound, as if I'm suffering from heartache. To this day, I reflect on that time when I knew my ex-boyfriend was cheating on me at that VERY moment. It was unreal. I've never experienced it quite like that before.
I don't know if it was my love for him, or our connection that put me on such strong alert. But, I was definitely on point when it came down to when, what time and what day he cheated on me.
Now, don't misconstrue my direction when I'm speaking on this 'women's intuition.' I'm by no means saying it's some sort of magical power women possess that tells them what's right or wrong in their lives. But, it is a feeling you get when you just KNOW. For men, it could be their logic. It could be a number of things that sing to you to be cautious.
From my experience, I couldn't have been more thankful for that moment. It hurt like hell to find out I had been right and shocked the hell out of him that I was. But, what can I say?
Has anyone ever saved themselves from heart break or from a situation, period, from simply having "a feeling" that something wasn't quite right? Or is it just having good timing and paying attention to the red flags that rescued you?
