  • What Makes Ryan Gosling So Attractive?!

I'm generally not one for blonde boys (in fact, I have a thing for dudes with olive skin and jet-black hair). Nor am I one for idolizing people I'll very, very, VERY likely never have an opportunity to see or speak to face-to-face, let alone touch. And yet, like many women, I find Ryan Gosling SO. DAMN. ATTRACTIVE.

What can I say? He has that je ne sais quoi -- an intangible quality that makes him absolutely, positively irresistible.

*SOMETHING* about this fine specimen of manhood is an absolute panty-peeler.

Although he's definitely cute, he's not the most *objectively* handsome guy out there. In the same vein, although he's got some SERIOUS acting chops, there *are* other male celebrities of equal talent floating around Hollywood.

    So why HIM? Why Ryan?

What's the source of this golden boy's mass appeal? Why are oh-so-many women falling at Ryan Gosling's feet?

He gives all the indications of having good genetic markers, wealth and social resources, and an air of vulnerability that generates oxytocin which also helps lead you to like him.

    Next question?

  • Nous_Apeiron@xanga

@Nataly Loveless@facebook - So what were the attributes of his role in the Notebook that you think are driving women's attraction to him?

  • Nous_Apeiron@xanga

@Nataly Loveless@facebook - Robin Williams played a similar character in What Dreams May Come, a sensitive and caring man who literally went to hell and back for his wife.

That was some even more sappy shit, but we didn't see the same kind of swooning over Robin Williams that Ryan Gosling gets these days.

  • Nous_Apeiron@xanga

@Nataly Loveless@facebook - Yeah, now that I'm 27 I have to use a cane or a walker just to get around.  It's wild.

I'm sure Robin Williams will be glad to hear that you appreciate his excellent work as an actor.

  • Niiksknox@xanga

Definitely agree it's because of The Notebook. Hell, I thought he was hot and dreamy after watching it.

  • sunflowersforlove@xanga

@Nous_Apeiron@xanga - Robin Williams in Dreams May Come is definitely better than Ryan Gosling in The Notebook. I'm only 22 and I know that movie if it's any help towards you feeling old :p

I have no idea what it is about Ryan Gosling that makes him so attractive. I told my sister yesterday I thought it was his voice, maybe it's also the confidence he portrays in all his roles. I remember seeing him in Remember the Titans and swearing he was the cutest guy ever, but it took me until last year to realize that he was the guy from Remember the Titans haha.
  • sabbygurl@xanga

do people remember him in other roles?  I've had a celebrity crush on him since I was young....since my Breaker High and Young Hercules days.....

  • notinwonderlandanymore@xanga

I don't even think he's overly attractive. I mean, he's not ugly, but if he wasn't famous I wouldn't really give him a second glance.

Me personally, it's his boyish, sly and mysterious charm. I've liked him since "Remember the Titans." I became infatuated when "The Notebook" had everyone up in arms. But I was completely swooned when I saw "Fracture" and "Drive." It's a combination of things that makes him delectable.

I have wondered the same thing SO many times. He doesn't have the best features and he's alittle too skinny but he is SO damn attractive. I have no idea what it is. The only thing I can think of is my brain automatically loves him because he is Noah.

  • ColdSkivvies@xanga

@Nataly Loveless@facebook - So, if referencing a 1998 movie makes @Nous_Apeiron@xanga - old, I guess me referencing "Love Story" from 1970 would make me the crypt keeper.

It's because he cute but hot at the same time, and you just think I bet he'd be a great boyfriend...because of his movie roles...which make no indication of what he is actually like at all but I'm happy to go with it haha I love him!!

  • looloo11268@xanga

For me, it's his Giving Tree tattoo. A grown man with a tattoo from one of my favorite children's stories. Yes.

I haven't seen the notebook I have a thing for paul rudd from the clueless movie his voice is so sexy and his smile is so cute like a puppy. he is exactly like the early 40's aged guy that I find hot. he doesn't look boyish like leonardo dicaprio, but he isn't that old looking. the right amount of matured looks.

  • my_name_is_Yentl@xanga

agreed notebook lol and he is just a handsome guy

  • hoosierlife@xanga

I discussed this with some friends recently. We decided it has something to do with his voice and the way he moves. None of us could really describe it exactly but he talks and walks and stands even just makes you want to be touching him or something. And personally, he wears a suit better than almost anyone.

  • Nous_Apeiron@xanga

@sunflowersforlove@xanga - Thanks for supporting me in my old age.

@ColdSkivvies@xanga - On the other hand, at least neither of us were around for the Triassic period.  We're still relatively young, considering.

  • cHiCoLaTe@xanga

According to his co-star in Crazy Stupid Love (great movie btw), Steve Carrell, he's the "nicest guy". Apparently, aside from his stunning looks (and body...), Ryan Gosling is an incredibly kind person as well.
    :)

I find him really attractive because he's got:

    - dirty blonde hair- nice blue eyes- a good, GOOD physique - a "strong & mysterious" demeanor - a nice smile- a half-beard (rugged, but not homely)
    - talent as an actor
And he's been in all these great romantic movies!
  • books8137@xanga

He's smart, charming, funny, attractive, and modest (from interviews I've seen). I don't know, for me, he's kind of got the guy-next-door vibe going, which also makes him seem much more approachable than most A-list celebrities. I put him, JGL, and Jason Segel in the same category for these reasons.

    uh-huh

Don't usually comment but I just had to for this post because I actually had the *very* rare opportunity to meet him and talk to him. I use to work for the California Science Center in Los Angeles( The place gets its good share of celebrities once in a while, I saw Andy Garcia and Forest Whittaker  and Kuno Becker while working there too). Back to Ryan :3

He came in with two other friends right as we were about to close. He came directly to me rather than the male host at the information desk..thats when it registered who he was ..I think my heart skipped a beat, or two..or more right there and then. I couldn't ask for his autograph because we risk getting fired if we do so ( mean policy at a public institution :( ). He was incredibly polite, couldn't say my name for the life of him but he tried. He asked about our IMAX films and asked if he and his friends could go in. Given we were closing....it was 4:45 pm and museum closes at 5 pm...I was about to say "no" but then I thought, ITS RYAN GOSLING! how could i refuse to let him in?! so...we let him in and saw him enjoy a good 15 minutes riding the high wire Bicycle with this friends and going to the 5:00 PM IMAX showing afterwards. As soon as I got home I was jumping up and down and screaming " I MET Ryan Gosling!!!" dad thought I was crazy haha.
Having met him face to face confirmed to me how handsome he really is, whether he played Noah or not in The Notebook, the man is soo damn ATTRACTIVE!!
  • DarkMeru@xanga

i dont think he is hot maybe cute on a good day in low light.  His eyes are too close together and ones all squinty, and his ears are a little small for his head.  Maybe im being critical but that pic of him is not exactly flattering, too much of a close up i suppose.  I also cannot name a movie he is in im not the sappy romantic chick flick kinda girl.

  • onlysixfeetunder@xanga

Well, I don't find him attractive at all. So. Yeah.

  • somebody_iusedtoknow@xanga

It's because of his crooked smile, if a guy is generally pretty cute and has a little bit of a crooked smile it makes him seem a bit more honest in my book for some reason, like he's not trying to be too perfect. Yet he seems manly enough to take control when you want him to. And his voice is hot, ESPECIALLY the little southern thing he's got going on in the Notebook. That is why I enjoy watching Ryan Gosling :)
