  • Real Life TED

The movie TED makes me laugh. A young boy’s wish for a real life TED is granted. 20 years later the living and breathing TED is the meat in his relationship sandwich, much to the disdain of his “slice of bread” girlfriend, played by Mila Kunis. I know lots of people with irrational attachments to fluffy animals, or creepy Russian dolls, so do you have a pet or “toy” who is third wheeling your relationship?

My brother has a TED in his life. Not a living breathing one, but a teddy he’s had since birth. Busy Bear has been a part of Andrew’s relationships since he lost his awkwardness at age 17 and became remotely attractive to the female species. His first girlfriend Alex liked Busy Bear. She bought him a Mrs. Busy Bear. But Mrs. Busy Bear miraculously disappeared around the same time Alex did.

Emma was also a fan. But Busy Bear stopped returning her calls when Andrew did. Even with a beautiful fiancé in tow Busy Bear goes down as Andrew’s longest and most successful relationship. And although I think he’s been kicked out of bed, he’s still very much part of the bedroom furniture.

Do you have a TED in your relationship? Is it cute or a turn off?

My boyfriend has  a stuffed toy tiger he keeps hidden in his drawer (for its protection from wear n tear), from his childhood. I saw a picture of him and the tiger when he was a baby! But it doesn't come inbetween us. lol.

I have many dozens of "teds" that I display around my room so there are many eyes looking at me

my bf loves them he buys me more! I got these shelves that I mounted on the wall to put more plushies one of the reasons my bf adores me is because I'm cute and everything around me is cute. my cute world will make a grown man giggle they don't come between the relationship because I don't carry them around with me in fear of getting them dirty. my stuffed animals are mostly in mint condition. I don't have many from my childhood though. I put the old ones in storage for a long time and they smelled, so they are donated. mine are mostly newly purchased since I moved. they are more for decor than play. I don't really have a "relationship/friendship" with any of them like the guy in the movie does. they sit there and I randomly poke them because it makes me laugh. then I tell my bf and he laughs, too:D well, we sort of developed mini roleplay characters with a few of them sometimes we're like the grown up/kid couple. the UP movie kid couple is totally us.

My husband has a stuffed Heathcliff the cat, poor little guy is raggedy but very much loved.  He's now packed away in a box so he never gets in the way.  I think it's cute.  I had some stuffed animals I loved as a kid as well, but now they've also been packed away.

If it is just one, and he doesn't cuddle with it instead of cuddling with me, it's cool, maybe even a bit endearing. I usually keep one cuddly thing on my bed to sleep with at night if needed. But it gets put to the side when there is a boy there to cuddle with.

i think the movie sounds seriously stupid and that nobody should be attracted to a man who still loves his teddy bear.

@blowingmoney@xanga - I STILL LOVE MY TEDDY BEARS. ARE YOU SAYING THAT I AM UNWORTHY OF LOVE?! ;_______________________; >:C

Her name is blowingmoney... my first guess would be an empty vessel...
Can't even laugh at a possible situation... Sounds like a fuck blast to be around...
People will enjoy their stuffed animals, she will have to fake the enjoyment of your life...

My husband and I each have a "Ted", but in a different manner. Beforehand, neither of us kept out a "Ted" or anything. I have countless stuffed animals in storage that I can tell great stories about, but nothing I actively kept around.

While dating, for our first xmas my husband (then boyfriend) gave me a little puppy dog, who I named "Mischief", that was to symbolize that he would buy me a puppy, but didn't want to offer a live dog that wasn't what I wanted. So the stuffed animal was a symbol of the future puppy. We still keep it on the bed.

Next, while on our honeymoon, shortly after going to Seaworld and my husband working his butt off so I could pet a dolphin, and then buying me a dolphin necklace, I said I wanted to buy HIM something. We had a love for sea lions because just the day before while kayaking in the ocean, we had seen sea lions and it was a really memorable moment for us. So I saw a sea lion stuff animal and bought it for him. We named it Seamore.

We still keep both Mischief & Seamore on the bed. I sleep with them closer to me. They have huge sentimental value to us. When our baby daughter arrives in November, we will give her one or both probably to grow up with. So our 'teds' are very loved.

My boyfriend and I, we both have our TEDs. Mine is a baby winnie the pooh! and i won't disclose what his is. ^^,
It's good that we kept something from our childhood to remind us we don't have to grow up so fast despite being together for a long time. You don't have to be so serious all the time in a relationship so our TEDs still keeps us as playful.

I'm not sure I understood the middle half of this post.

I liked the movie though. It was like a really long episode of Family Guy where Meg gets to be hot for once.
