  • 6 Old & New Romantic Movies I Want to Watch This Summer

This summer is my last summer as a student, which means it's also my last summer vacation. Of course, I'm interning and working, but I've still got a lot of free time and I plan to use it. But New York City is really hot in the summer, so one of the ways I'll cool off is by watching all the movies I keep meaning to watch, like these 7 romantic movies.

    1. Celeste and Jesse Forever

Comedians Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg try their hand at dramatic roles in Celeste and Jesse Forever, out in NY and LA July 3rd. Apparently, they were pretty successful, because this film was an official Sundance selection. About a divorcing couple who tries to remain friends, it sounds funny, sad, and beautiful all at the same time.

    2. Casablanca

Have you ever watched a movie, loved it, then re-watched it again on dry land and hated it? I don't know what it is about planes. Maybe it's because I'm regularly on 14-hour-flights, so pretty much anything is interesting. But when I saw Casablanca on the plane, I absolutely hated it. I'm hoping that this phenomenon works in reverse, and re-watching Casablanca on dry land will help me understand the appeal of this highly regarded classic.

    3. Out Of Sight

Romantic movies aren't all fluff-fluff, like this one about a bank robber who kidnaps a US Marshal, then ends up falling for her. This particular movie was rated by Entertainment Weekly as the sexiest movie of all time, so it's definitely on my summer wish list. The movie also stars George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez in their prime, and both are hot.

    4. Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages tells the story of two youngsters who fall in love with Hollywood. It's gotten pretty bad reviews, but it's a musical. I love all musicals, so that's why it's on this list.

    5.
     Nights in Rodanthe

Any movie based on a Nicholas Sparks movie is bound to be at least kind of good, and just watching the trailer almost made me cry. Plus it's the most romantic movie my sister's ever seen, apparently.

    6. A Walk To Remember

I didn't know this was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel for a really long time, but based on his track record, I'm really not surprised. This movie is consistently regarded by my friends as the best chick flick they've ever seen. Which, naturally, makes me really want to watch it.

What other romantic movies do you recommend - old or new?
