Miley Cyrus is having a bit of a moment. She's newly engaged and has magically transformed into a pilate pushing, gluten free living, hot little lady in recent months. Emphasis on little. Sure, I'm not a big fan of the Hoedown Throwdown, or any of her "acting" ventures, but my God if I looked like that in hot pants I would die, in a good way. Christ, I don't even care that I can see her nipples.
But does she look sexy, or just slaggy when she wears glorified underwear as outerwear? And how does the "sexy or slutty" conundrum generalize to the female population? I argue, and feel free to disagree that, when you're Miley-slim, you can get away with wearing what a bigger girl might get called a slut for wearing. The "legs or boobs, but never both rule" just doesn't apply when your body is so tight. Every top Miley wears looks like its shrunk in the wash, or she's borrowed it from a baby, but still, I think she looks amazing. If she'd worn the same outfit this time last year, when she was much bigger, I'd be more inclined to say she looked slutty.
Doesn't seem fair, does it? I'm horribly aware of my own hypocrisy here, and can definitely see that its not a very empowering way to think about my own sex. But its my knee jerk reaction that if you're slim you can push the envelope a bit before you enter slag territory.

she wasn't even that fat last year... she def could still pull this off and look fine. i love her style, but i have to admit she's the biggest attention whore on the face of the earth.
i actually think she's gotten fatter. i remember her being a lot hotter a couple years ago. like in the party in the usa video. like she really used to get my gears going.
anyway, to answer the question. i don't necessarily know if your weight will dictate if you are slutty, but it is very significant in terms of whether you look sexy. sorry, your muffin top and excessive cellulite should not be displayed to the rest of the world.
there is a fine line between sexy and skanky, and i would agree that it can at times be difficult to distinguish, at least if you're a girl. i'll tell you right now though, that in both the posted miley photos, she looks skanky as fuck. clothing like that screams to me "do not go near this vagina." the clothing in the top photo looks like a sports bra. skanky. the shorts in the bottom photo ride up into her ass crack so much that you can see the folds of her ass cheeks over the back of her thigh. really skanky. short shorts are attractive as long as they're not all up in your booty like tp.

I have a nice ass and thighs. When i wear shorter skirts my tush is like POW right in ur face, whereas someone with no curves might just look cute in the same skirt.

then my top half is bigger, so although most people think I look fine, I think I look like an alien or I'm self conscious, although I'm also conceited
how I feel about myself depends on my mood. I rarely show lots of skin. I just wear extremely body hugging clothing, so it is like I'm wearing a latex catwoman suit everyday, but in different color combinations and separate articles of clothing.
The appropriateness of the outfits depends upon what your wearing it to/for. People are also attracted to different body types, so weight is also a subjective topic.

I agree with @tearlessnights@xanga - It comes down to the shape as well as the size. I have quite pronounced curves, which means when I dress up for interviews I end up looking more 'sexy secretary' than 'viable job candidate'. -_- With other clothes as well, sometimes I get unexpected attention or feel self-conscious because of the looks I get, whereas a less 'feminine' girl wouldn't have a problem.
As for Miley, the first photo looks bold and confident, while the second looks skanky. Especially because the shorts are 'cutoffs' with that big dangly frayed bit. It's not a sin to have nipples, though.
Being naked in public is skanky. Period.
I definitely believe some girls can get away with things other girls can't. I don't think body size makes a girl slutty or sexy. I can see how girls get called names because of their inappropriate attire at times (in settings where covering up is suggested or required). But if you're sexy, then you're sexy! Body size doesn't reflect how sexy you are because there will always be someone out there who finds different body sizes sexy. Then again, people have different descriptions of what sexy and slutty is. Someone may think wearing short shorts is slutty, and someone may think girls who dress in a classy way are sexy. It's all subjective. I don't call girls sluts for their attire OR how they conduct themselves; it's not my business. I worry about myself and how I look.
Regardless of how skinny or fat you are, your nipples and/or vagina shouldn't be on display for everyone to see. I'm in decent shape but I would NEVER go out in public with my midriff showing or my ass cheeks hanging out of my shorts, because I have some semblance of decency and self-respect.
Thin-ness shouldn't determine the ability to "get away with" wearing skanky clothing. Miley looks desperate for attention in her barely-there outfits and needs to learn what it means to wear clothing that covers her body.
She is a celebrity, folks. Celebrities make money by being popular and/or hot and/or good at what they do, right? I firmly believe that most celebrities behave the way they do for the attention because it is generally good for their career.
there's a difference between sexy and slutty. sexy is not revealing much- leaving just enough to the imagination, which leaves men wanting more. slutty is just putting it all out there for everyone to see.
with that, any woman/person of any body type/size can be sexy or slutty, depending on what they wear.
miley is showing her ass. that's not attractive (at least in my eyes) so in my opinion she's more on the slutty side in this outfit.
I'll never forget the year I went to a Christian camp in high school, and since I was a bit pudgy (and busty), I was often advised to change into more modest clothing, whereas the skinny bitches could get away with anything.
I DEFINITELY felt a double-standard, and I think it still applies to me today. My mom criticizes my clothes often, my my smaller, less-busty sister can get away with WAY more. :-/
I think girls will get called demenaing names but sometimes if the guy likes what he is seeing he wont put her down because he probably wants to see her with what she is already wearing or worse.
But if a girl is bigger well things tend to stand out more or guys might not like it so they put her down to maybe get her to change.
On the other hand girls can be mean if you are too thin or too fat. They are mean to you if you are thin because they might be jealouse or its really bad but if your too big and they are making fun of you then they are trying to make themselves feel better but maybe you should still change.
Either way it is wrong, no matter what if you are big or small you know what is going too far. You shouldnt have to wait for a guy or even a girl to call you a demeaning name!
