My favorite kind of movies are chick flicks. Yes, I know that they're not actually
any good. They're cheesy, and predictable, and after a while even I get bored. And I have a healthy appreciation of movies that I know are actually good (Shawshank Redemption, anyone?).
But the reason that I like chick flicks is because they allow me to escape from the real world, into a love fantasy with crazy romantic gestures that don't actually happen. Except apparently, they do.
From amazing proposals to one woman's admittance on The Choice
that she once flew from L.A. to Boston to be with her guy for just 6 hours, I've spent the whole week looking at things for Datingish that have tugged on my heartstrings. It's a nice reminder that, yes, crazy-romantic gestures do exist. I guess the people who write the chick flicks have to get it from somewhere, right?
But these romantic gestures always happen to people I don't know and will probably never meet.
In a long-term relationship, it's the little things that count. The everyday gestures are more important than the once-a-year ones.
But it's nice to fantasize, and it would be nice to hear about these from somebody more 'normal,' i.e. not with their 15 minutes of fame.So whats the most romantic gesture you've ever received or done?
