In the spirit of the posts of firsts (see: crushes, loves, kisses), I thought I'd next explore first dates.
For me, it's a little hard to define. Maybe I'm not alone here, but some nights that have certainly felt like dates may not have been classified as such by both parties. Maybe I thought it was a date, but to him it was just another "hang-out" session.
My first ever, absolutely official, mutually agreed upon, "yes this is a date" date was a late brunch and a walk along the beach. It was quite lovely. I was running late because I didn't want to awkwardly stand outside the restaurant waiting for him, but he ended up running later. I wore a green sweater. I had pancakes. I was very tired after a night of "welcome back" drinking with my roommates.
What was your first official date like?

i've had a lot of first dates but my favorite first date was when i was w/my 2nd bf, we went out on his parents boat in the pacific ocean and we spent the whole day in the ocean, eating, laughing, talking, and just enjoying the sun. it was just me and him and we didn't have to worry about anyone or what the world was doing, it didn't matter. of course, i was so burnt after that. but it was the first time i was on a boat like that and i got to see this side of him that he wouldn't let anyone see.
what is still, to this day, the best date i have ever had. though it is unclear whether this judgment is clouded because it was a new experience.
My first date was almost nine years ago. It was the Cecil County fair and this girl I knew from working at the local gas station asked me to join her and her friends for the opening night. I showed up fully intent on asking that girl out, but when I met her friends at the ticket line that plan went out the window. There was this Cherokee goddess of a girl with the biggest brown eyes I had ever seen. She smiled at me for asking her why she didn't have a boyfriend. I remember thinking that was impossible, for a girl like her to be single. I asked her if she'd let me buy her a chocolate milk at this stand and she smiled again. For the rest of the night I followed her everywhere. I probably asked her a thousand questions that first night. The fair started shutting down around eleven and we agreed that the night was far too young for such nonsense. So, she called her mom to see if we could come swimming in the middle of the night. By 'we', I meant her, her best friend, some guy her best friend couldn't keep her face off of, and me. When she told me that she would ask her mom, I thought she was joking. When she actually called her and asked if two 16 year old guys could come over for a midnight dip. I thought, damn she's got balls. But, it wasn't until she said her mom had no problem with it that I thought it was too good to be true. We all get there and her mom is in a bathrobe smoking a cig on the porch. She smiles and waves us towards the pool. The girls went in to change while we jumped straight in. When she came out in her purple polka-dotted bikini, my jaw dropped. She jumped in and was a very elusive swimmer. Always just out of reach, but teasing that she couldn't be caught. After finally cornering her in the deep end. She asked if I felt like going for a walk? At this point I would have gone anywhere with her, so I did. We pulled the two face suckers out of the water, towelled up and headed up the street. She was surrounded by Amish farms so the sky was open in all directions. It was a gorgeous night in July and I didn't miss a single second of it. We laughed and teased our way from the other two and started holding hands. Asking about each others dreams and such. Then out of nowhere a car flicks on it's headlights and is cruising right down the road for us. I scooped her up and jumped off the road into a muddy field. (at least I hoped it was mud) I wanted to kiss her right then, but the sinking sensation made me have to put her down on the road. She laughed at me and said she would have been fine, but I really just wanted to pick her up and jumped at the opportunity to. We decided to start walking back and when we got to the cars she turned around and leaned back on the trunk. I shot straight for it. It was a picture perfect.kiss. Neither of us had much practice, but I obviously had a little more than she did. I sure didn't mind. We actually kissed twice that night. Right before we pulled away, she kissed me through the window. For the next two weeks I called her or saw her almost everyday. One day when I left her house to get home before my mother found out I was with "a girl", I asked her out. She said yes. We became highschool sweethearts and dated for six years. Needless to say, it was a great first date.
My first official date was at the orleans casino cafe where i had strawberry chicken. Then he took me to play pool after, my first time too. So it was super cuate. We ended up being first loves and first everything together. =)
My very first date ever was to Olive Garden hahaha. I was a sophomore and the guy who took me was a senior and had met while doing this play for our school theater group. The night of our date was actually opening night for the play, so we didn't have a ton of time to like sit and talk and do all that normal "date" type stuff because we had to be back at school, but it was a really nice time. We ended up dating for about eight months after that.
I think we ate at an almost dead empty, local Thai restaurant ...was awkward, quiet, shy and avoiding eye-contact. But we got around to talking about ourselves.. and then he said he was surprised that I could eat as much as he could, for someone my size. I think this is how it went.
With the guy that I'm with now, we never really had a 'first date'. But the first thing we ever did was hang out and play cards for a couple hours. I kind of count that
I have never been on a date with a female,. offical and unoffical.
I suppose there have only been one who would have gone out with me if she was not a holiday enterainment rep, she told my parents can I marry your son :) this was during the 2nd day of the holiday she asked me in front of my parents do you have a girlfriend back at home or wanted one (score) nothing happen during the holiday.
One asked me out of the blue, can I go out with you, before even getting to know me properly.

My first official date was a trip to Mission Control at Johnson Space Center Houston, which is super close to where I live. The boy I was dating at the time (who was my first love, and my third longest relationship) got free tickets to sit in on a launch from his mother. It was the sweetest and nerdiest first date ever, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I was so excited to get to be at the actual Mission Control, that famous room portrayed in all of the movies. I got extra lucky - there was a storm in Florida that night, so they had to prolong the lift off by a day, and we were invited to go back for free!
Pretty like those in the movies... turned out fine.. hahaha. Meeting the boy, holding hands, watching a romance/comedy movie, blahblahblah... ended with the boy asking for a kiss.. and I gave a peck on his lips. haha.
