  • What's Your Type?

As I start to get the ball rolling on the weekly fetishes, it got me thinking about what would be considered a fetish and what may be regarded as a passing fancy. Not all of us may have a strong sexual reaction to something, though we may find it very attractive. I guess in the dating world we would call them "things" or "types."

Oh I have a thing for tall girls. Oh I have a thing for chubby guys. Oh I have a thing for goth chicks. Oh I have a thing for artists. Etc.

I really have a thing for guys and facial hair. And not in the "I like your ironic mustache ironically" kind of way, but I find it incredibly masculine and that excites me to no end. I like the little scratches and running my fingers through it.

I won't think a guy isn't manly if he isn't sporting a beard (or can't grow one) and I won't turn him down for not having one either... but I do like a little bit of scruff. Guys I've gone on dates with would purposely not shave before seeing me because they knew I liked it so much. Cute.

What's your type? What do you have a "thing" for? Or do you have something you'd consider more of a fetish?

Guys who aren't assholes...that pretty much narrows it down.

  • JusticeCho@xanga

I think I like and also dislike too many things to list.  A major (and common) one would probably be long dark hair.

  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

god i could probably list a thousand things...

independent, assertive, clearly spoken, well dressed, and super sweet.  academics are nice--having (or getting) a phd is so fucking hot.

probably helps if she has a vagina, too.

  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

oh and no fat chicks, i took a girl home once and she had a little more belly with her clothes off than it seemed with them on.  boobs don't look good if you're fat, they just make you seem more fat. like i can't tell which part is girl and which part is you being fat.  (i was so turned off i told her i couldn't go past second base with her that night.  we never saw each other again.  i might have gone through with it if she brought liquor like i fucking asked her to.)

  • nonurbusinessyo@xanga

That's easy, I have a thing for rock climbing chicks.  My GF has a thing for facial hair too but she likes it groomed.  Think Adrian Brodie, not lumber jack.

I can't really describe it until I see him, but when I immediately think...omg he's so dreamy that's my type. and when we talk, I feel that time flew by so quickly and I want to continue talking to him because he's that awesome or I already start to miss him. dreamy AND awesome is my type

I like goatees, but goatess don't look good on every guy. some guys look sexy with it while others make it look like a silly costume. so it depends. no excessive arm hair. I was eating dinner when this guy, who sat at the next table, was resting his hairy arms on the table, and it made me lose my appetite I quickly left after seeing that also their voice links in with their sex appeal. if I can't imagine his voice saying sexy things, then I just...like probably can't:D not just males but I can't stand some females' voices. I'm not dating them but still...I have to talk to my coworkers, some of them females, and some of them just have the most annoying voices. I often think...why does she have to talk like that and not just talk regular without being obnoxious I don't like overly giddy nor monotone voices. some people can't control the tone of their voices because they were born with it, so okay I understand, but for others, I think they purposely put on that cutesy voice act. that was a rant I have a fetish for toned arms like the model, tyson beckford's arms. I tend to be more attracted to mixed black/white men with muscles than other races. white men with muscles are hot but the mixed guy would get my attention more. I don't exclude him, but yeah, semi-tanned bulging muscles stand out more to me I like tall guys but not basketball player tall-those giants scare me. not too tall, not too short but just right. I have a goldilocks preference. I'll know if he is right when I know. there's more of course.

Glasses - I'm a sucker for a guy with glasses.

Also - guys with mustaches creep me out.

  • Shytooth@xanga

I like a smart guy. I love skinny ties and sweater vests. I generally prefer dark hair. I really love a guy with a similar taste in music to mine. If their music collection has a lot of indie, oldies, and jazz then I am hooked. I want a guy to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall with and not some bad action movie. I like a guy who reads a lot. I prefer men who are 6'0" to 6'3", even though I am tiny. If a man has something that they are very skilled/talented at then it is a major turn on.

  • LightBlue21@xanga

Lol I know I'm totally playing into what evolutionary psychology expect me to want, but I am crazy about guys who work hard and are very ambitious. It's just sexy to me, a guy who knows what he wants and is willing to work hard to get there, a guy who has a sense of direction. I also love love love when a guy is really secure - not quite cocky, but is modestly confident in his abilities, accomplishments, masculinity, and attractiveness. When I can smell insecurity it's the biggest turnoff ever.

I guess the real only physical preference I have is for guys with darker hair and slightly tan skin. Not a fan at all of blonde, ginger guys with pale skin.

  • galliver@xanga

Guys named M---. Seriously. 3 in a row. I don't even know why; it's not a particularly sexy name.

I like guys who are smarter than me; not necessarily more educated, just more intelligent. Someone who can out-argue me and take me down a notch when I'm being stuck up.

For some reason, younger guys are a dealbreaker.  I can't get past the negative age difference, it gives me a false sense of superiority, which I know is false. Anyway it gets in the way. :(

  • Nous_Apeiron@xanga

    @donaldc - Indeed.

Talk nerdy to me, ladies.  That will work better than all the makeup, manicures, and fashion statements.

Also, I like women to who take their moral character and their physical health as seriously as I do my moral character and physical health.

  • twenty_4_hours_ago@xanga

I like nerdy girls and with braces. But as for personality attraction, I like girls who are confident, respectful, considerate, and spontaneous. That's only the attraction part, but sometimes you end up liking/loving someone that isn't your type at all.

  • Kodomo_no_Tsuki@xanga

i like tall skinny guys, but my fetish with them are the bones. Hip bones, collar bones, ribs, I like that. The last guy I dated was 6'3 and was at the most 125, his bones would leave bruises on me.

  • CandiedLilac@xanga

@TheNotoriousGOD@xanga - Hahah maybe it was a blessing that she failed to bring liquor.

Great, now I'm a dick too.

  • CandiedLilac@xanga

Okay, where do I begin. Let's start with the basis for my attraction to boys, cartoons.
We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story. The boy's name is Louie, a dark-haired short freckly yankee with a bad attitude. Then TJ from Recess. Freckles, brown hair, short, trouble maker, leader of the pack.
Ash from Pokemon: Short. Attitude. Dark hair.

I never grew out of it.

That's why I'm dating an Italian.

  • EccentricSiren@xanga

I have a thing for musicians. In fact, I can't quite see myself dating someone who isn't a musician, or at least creative in some way. Otherwise, he just won't get me.

  • deemure@xanga
  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

@CandiedLilac@xanga - believe me, you have *no* idea how many times i've had that same thought.  what a fucking disaster that would've been.  she told me she lost her virginity when she was like 13 and had hinted on our first date that she was somewhat more promiscuous than what i'm comfortable with (and that's coming from my mouth).  there's no fucking way she didn't have something.

the things i'll overlook when i'm drunk...

  • dynamicstars@xanga

    i like...men.
especially ones with dark eyes and crooked grins xD

  • methodElevated@xanga

I'm pansexual, so that automatically opens me up to a lot of people simply because I won't rule anyone out based on their gender.   (I'm currently in a relationship with a trans woman.)  But more specifically, I love nerds who are passionate about their nerdy interests.  Creativity, silliness, a thirst for knowledge, and an adventurous sexual side are immensely attractive.  I also go for aneurotypical people, and people who are, at the very least, my intellectual equals.  If someone can't challenge me intellectually, hold deep conversations, and force me to reexamine my beliefs, I'm not attracted to them.

  • opheliatohamlet@xanga

Heh. I have the opposite fetish. Baby-faced men turn me on. I think it may be just because I don't like the scratchy feeling of kissing a bearded man though. :P

  • theQuickFixInYourArms@xanga

I like guys with mustaches. Skaters. Punks. And usually they're full of themselves. I've also noticed that all the guys I dated in the past year are blonde. So strange because I never dated a blonde before then!

  • wing_stock@xanga

Looks-wise: great smile, sexy or beautiful eyes, effortless casual look that is still modern and fashionable, not nerd, not thug, but more vintage casual hipster preppy/surfer boy

Personality-wise: Academic, street-smart, wise, ambitious & opportunistic, seek the best for himself, high standards, impeccable moral values, existentist or similar philosophical beliefs, well defined views on life, has a good sense of humor (preferably dry), meticulous and sees fine details but is able to not let that hiders the bigger picture, knows how to be silly

Interaction with me: obviously we must get along, must adore, love and worship me, and only has me in his world.
