I find the "slut" stigma to be fascinating.
Firstly, there really isn't a male equivalent to the words "
slut" or "
whore".
(Click on those links. Both explicitly state that they are terms used exclusively for females). I believe have been called both of those terms unjustly,
because no one besides myself knows the number of men that I have slept with. And isn't that what makes a person "easy", the quantity of sexual partners that one has acquired?
Apparently not. Our media has warped our perception of what constitutes a "slut".
In Rush Limbaugh's humble opinion,
a slut is someone who wants contraception to be covered by an employer's healthcare.Michael Sanguinetti, a Toronto police officer, famously stated last year that to prevent from sexual abuse
"one should avoid dressing like sluts", implying that it was partially rape victims' fault for the attacks. A Manitoba judge went one step further and classified a woman wearing a tube top with out a bra as "inviting circumstances".
According to Sanguinetti and Limbaugh, a slut is someone who wears a tank-top and doesn't want to get pregnant.
So how do we determine if someone is a slut? Is it based on the number of sexual partners or by the way they present themselves (by factors such as dress and personality)?

my personal definitions:
whore: a person (man or woman) who has sex in exchange for something that is not related to sex.
slut: someone who has sex outside of an exclusive relationship.
also, while i do agree that dressing a certain way doesn't mean you deserve to be/are asking to be raped... i don't have much respect for women who dress like they're working the corner or pole.
The only person who doesn't know she is a slut, is the slut herself. Sluts think they are paragons of virtue. Just ask any female on Xanga.
If you think you might be a slut/whore, you probably are. Jesus forever!
In my opinion, a slut is a sexually irresponsible jackass. Is that you? As for that Toronto police officer, I support what he said, 100%.
You know you're a slut if you liked being called one. Only then is it okay. Otherwise, no one should ever pass any judgement on you having not lived the life you have.
Slut-shaming is wrong. I think any woman, and man, should have sex exactly the way they want to and choose to as long as their partners are also consenting adults who understand all the circumstances.
Shoot I wore a tank top and didn't want to get pregnant when I was five! I was born a slut, I guess.
We shouldn't be calling anybody a slut! We should forget the word, it's unnecessary.
How about we all keep our noses out of other people's sex lives?
@daydreams_nightmares@xanga - @TiredSoVeryTired@xanga - Agreed.
slutiness the way I understand it has to do with the view you have of life, love and sex. If you don't treasure the love experience of share intimacy that sex can provide to a couple, if you don't view your body as a temple of love and if you don't care giving away yourself to anybody, I guess then your behaviour could be a bit more slutty, cuz if sex is just a way to have fun you don't have to wait to be in love you can do it with anyone or everyone :O
I just think is very sad that girls are looking for love in the wrong way, maybe if they had a mom to teach them how to cherish the experience of shared love and uniqueness of the event, they'd think twice before they gave their bodies away to anyone.
if anyone broadcasts their sex lives publicly on a public forum perhaps, then thinks it isn't peoples' business, then they are sluts in denial. nobody will know about their sex lives unless they tell people. don't tell anyone and you won't be judged. if you tell, then prepare for feedback. there are different types of sluts; literal sluts and figurative sluts. the bitches that gossip at my workplace are what I call good for nothing slacker slutbags.
People need to stop worrying about what other people do in their bedroom. I don't like the word slut because it is so relative. I don't approve of certain behaviors, and would possibly question them in my friends, but generally: If you think you are a slut, you are. Why? Because you are clearly going beyond your own judgement of what is acceptable sexual behavior.
Just don't go around calling other women sluts because that just makes you a bitch. You can think it, because it's hard not to sometimes. When I see a girl that gets drunk and throws herself at guys, I think "ugh, slut". When I see a girl walking around with her ass and tits hanging out, I think "ugh, slut". But I would never say that out loud because it's judgmental as fuck. And because I realize they probably are doing it out of some insecurity because douche bags love that shit.
All men are sluts, really.
I think women are more objectified in our society and called sluts or thought of as such when they really aren't even having as much sex as men are.
I think allowing wealthy, cynical people-programmers to completely dictate your values system in exchange for money and publicity makes you a slut. And by this definition Rush Limbaugh is a two-cent syphillated gaping-orficed gutterskank.
I think people should sleep with who they please, but should be aware of the emotional and physical consequences. Few people who sleep around a lot, in my experience, are happy--in their lives OR in their relationships. I don't judge people based on their sexual partners any more than I judge people based on how many people they've shaken hands with.
in other news, girls and guys SHOULD wear whatever they want without fear of rape. Unfortunately, we don't live in that world yet and there are still people who will use your dress as an excuse to rape you. So how much coverage should a girl have? Enough to conceal a snubnose .38 revolver, no more and no less. So when that misogynist-in-training thinks your halter top is an excuse to shove you up against a brick wall in an alley somewhere, you can cap his ass. One less bastard in a world that's already got too many.
That police officer should be fired. No one ever asks to be raped. Rape is a power/dominance crime.
@TiredSoVeryTired@xanga - This right here!
The bolded sentence in the first paragraph, the number of people, male and female, who say this yet advertise to friends and on social networking sites just how many people they do sleep with. For some it isn't as well hidden, only they know as they want the world to believe. Don't want people to know who or how many people you have sex with, and thereby stop being judged for it, actually keep it to yourself. I know plenty who find a way to mention each new sex partner, then wonder how everyone knows because they think they are keeping it to themselves.
I've always said a woman could walk down the street butt-naked and that still doesn't give a man the right to rape or violate her. Some men just want any excuse for their bad behavior, they want to go back to the days when women were property.
A promiscuous woman.

@flapper_femme_fatale@xanga - Couldn't have said it better , actually ..
White women who hit on/flirt with all the black and hispanic dudes in a professional work setting.
To me, it means most of you all :) Male or female.
By many people's standards, I'm a slut because I've had sex before marriage and have had sex outside of a relationship. And if those SUPER! AWFUL! things make me a slut, then I will fully embrace the label.
And the first time I was raped I was definitely dressed like a slut. I was wearing nothing but a t-shirt and underwear. Definitely asking for it.
Well, I was nine at the time but I was still totally dressed like a slut. So I was still asking for it. What self-respecting child goes to bed wearing only a t-shirt and undies? Obviously no 40 year old man can resist raping a child wearing such sexy, slutty clothing during a sleepover.
A gigolo is a term for a male whore.
