State-Sponsored Rape
Virginia's poised to enact ‘State-Sponsored Rape’ law forcing women to be vaginally probed before abortions. Legislator suggests that women who consent to sex also consent to vaginal probing. And I say... what about rape victims. How can they force rape victims to be penetrated again against their will?
The revised criminal definition of rape is “the penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object." It is 100% rape as it is legally defined.
Earlier this month, a bill requiring women to receive an ultrasound before they can receive an abortion passed the Virginia senate, and it recently cleared a state house committee with an overwhelming majority. The bill would force most women to undergo a stunningly invasive procedure for no medical reason whatsoever.
An unnamed lawmaker told a fellow Virginia delegate that a woman already consented to being “vaginally penetrated when they got pregnant.”
The state is forcing women to be penetrated with an object against their will in order to obtain a LEGAL medical procedure. I find Virginia's invasion of a woman's right to choose an end run around Roe V. Wade and an invasion of a woman's person!

@LoveeeLikeASunset@xanga - i do, but i guess you don't understand the CONCEPT of a false equivalency. in that the comparison is NOT the same concept.
@DrummingMediocrity@xanga - If a 'non-viable' fetus is expelled from its life source I find it wrong because if left alone it would in time become viable and be capable of life on its own. Its like taking someone off life support you have made the choice to kill them. You make it sound like its ok to smother a coma patient because they are not coherent. I don't think its right to wear fur or snake skin etc. Just because something isn't as intelligent doesn't mean its life shouldn't have value and be slaughtered. There is a difference in comparing a fertilized egg to just an egg itself that is not complete. You need both sperm and egg to make a fetus. A fetus would become life while an egg itself would not. Otherwise you are comparing a menstrual cycle to abortion.
@addicted2tats@xanga - The developing embryo and subsequent fetus have special meaning to us because of what they mean; unlike sperm, an embryo is actively in the process of becoming a distinctive human, a person. This is obviously why murder of a fetus is much more significant even before it clearly has sentience: what it was to become will never be.
This is perfectly rational and understood.
Therefore, I mean not to put any more emphasis on just any sperm, but to compare the one that is blocked from fertilization by contraception to the aborted nonviable fetus in the long-term, because they would yield the same result: the future child’s existence is stopped completely whether by blocking the start of development or stopping development once it’s ensued.
By the way, I saw you put nonviable fetus in quotes. I make a point to distinguish it from a viable fetus because that is the point at which nearly everyone- including those of us who are pro-choice- draw the line, due to an ability to feel pain existing at this point.
@addicted2tats@xanga - A brain-dead coma patient whose life is totally dependent on medical support is not considered viable, but a coma patient itself usually is. A person who is in a coma and brain-dead (nonviable) will have their fate often determined by family members, which is comparably contentious to abortion (think Terri Schiavo), similar to how a nonviable fetus' fate is determined by its host, the 'mother'. A person in a temporary coma is usually viable and sometimes conscious/sentient, and thereby not an appropriate comparison to a nonviable fetus.

can't find a way other than abortion" showed you why whatever concept you claim analogous between the two situations is in disagreement with his/hers. If she hadn't understood the 'concept' you were claiming in the first place, she wouldn't have been able to respond to it and destroy the fallacy of your logic as she did. Perhaps defending WHY you felt the two CONCEPTS were analogous would have been a mor credible response to the discussion than resorting to blunt, short condescension.
