When I First Meet You, I Look at Your Smile
I probably smile about 95% of the time, and that 5% of time I'm not smiling, something is probably drastically wrong. I think smiling, even when I'm not in the best mood, makes me feel good and releases some tension I may have been building up. Whenever I'm around people, I know I'm always smiling (unless I'm angry at them for something) and eventually smiles spread to other people.
When I first meet someone, the first thing I notice about them is their smile.
First impressions are important to me. If when I meet someone for the first time, I notice a bright, sincere smile, I can't help but keep smiling as well. It's contagious.
If you're smiling, my guess is that you are probably happy and you give off positive vibes. I enjoy being around people who have good energy surrounding them, especially when I try to exude that same kind of aura.
Do you like to smile? Do you like being around people who smile, or is it too much for you?
What's the first thing you notice about someone when first meeting them?

The first thing I notice is their eyes.
I notice people's eyes, can't say I pay much attention to their smile. If they are truly smiling, you see it in their eyes. Fake smiles don't reflect in the eyes. :)
@TiredSoVeryTired@xanga - Very good point!
I notice their side profile, then from there, if he smiles first, then I'll notice his smile, then eyes and nose or hair before eyes. I can't really say which feature I notice first. I just take a quick mental snapshot of their entire face and know almost immediately if I'm attracted to him or not.
smiling all the time can give people the wrong impression of your mood. i think it's ridiculous when people smile for EVERYTHING, even when there not in a good mood.. it's a front.
one of the first things i notice on someone is there smile.. it's like a welcome mat on your face
When I smile... my mouth isn't like this --- =)
it's more like ^_^
I just have poor "smiling muscles"
but if I open my lips and show some of my teeth, it helps make a wider and more genuine smile. That means I gotta take good care of my teeth for life haha
i'm also one of the few that loves a smile and notices a smile first and smiles are the biggest thing for me.
i don't notice eyes as quickly.
everyone else says eyes though. for me its lips, mouth, smile.
@sugar_mama@xanga - I
see what you're saying about smiling all the time, but I find that it
helps me feel a little bit better about whatever things I am grappling
with in my mind. Endorphins! :)
And I like the "welcome mat" image!
@stanlee255@xanga - Work those smiling muscles out! And anyway, a smile is a smile :D haha
I always grin if I'm talking to someone... a lot of people have told me that I have a nice smile, my recent ex told me that I had the perfect one... thank you braces...
@xx_ng_xx@xanga - i still have 'em
This seems like a very appropriate study for the discussion. It's funny because I always used to say that I looked at a guy's smile first, too but apparently: Happy Guys Finish Last, Says New Study On Sexual Attractiveness
Haha, I feel like I just killed every guy's mood who reads this.
Eyes.
Yup, I notice smiles first. there's nothing as attractive to me as a nice smile. That's why if someone has a bad smile (mainly when you can tell someone isn't good enough friends with his/her toothbrush) it's such a turn off. Nice smiles are so warm and inviting.
I'm so thankful that my mom made me get braces when I was younger, because now I get commented on my smile pretty often.I don't understand why so many people notice eyes first though, but to each their own.Eyes and smile.
I smile all the time.. haha even if I'm mad or upset. I just fake the smile.. and I lovee being around people who smile (: and plus, thats like the first thing I notice about a person is the smile.
@drawmafreezone@xanga - Me too.
i love smiles but i have a thing about teeth so i always look at smiles and teeth to make sure it's a good one.
@reesa14@xanga - @superGchik@xanga - Haha thanks to the hurricane/loss of power for days I haven't been able to get on Datingish in a while so I didn't read your comments til now, but with the little left battery on my laptop during the storm I wrote a blog about how important teeth is to someone in terms of attractiveness--nice timing! What say you about just teeth?
@number9 - Thanks for sharing the link! No worries, if anyone who reads it gets into a bad mood, just smile ;) hahaha
