Crime and Punishment
My freshman year of college, I met a girl named Myra. Myra was a sweet girl and we became good friends, but her boyfriend was a total prick. Though Myra never had proof, her friends from back home would tell her that Mark (her boyfriend who still lived at home) was cheating on her. Myra would confront Mark, but he would always deny it, and she, being the sweet and trusting girl that she is, would believe him.
Then came the weekend that Mark came to visit. My boyfriend and I went out with them on Friday night, but Saturday night, Myra came down with some sort of stomach bug. She encouraged us to go out without her, so Mark and I went to a house party. Since I disliked Mark, I avoided him for the majority of the night, but when it was time to leave, I went to the dance room and found him making out with a stranger.
My boyfriend, who was also friends with Myra, pulled Mark away, while I went to talk to the girl. I told her that Mark had a girlfriend, but she just shrugged and pulled away. I was angry, and didn't feel like walking home with Mark, so I waited by the door for my boyfriend to catch up so we could leave. It took about ten minutes, but he came and he brought Mark with him, saying something about Mark having gotten away to say goodbye to his make-out partner.
When I had first seen him sucking face with the strange girl, he was flawless. Now he had a huge (about 3 inches) hickey on his neck and jaw. I must have been gaping like a fish, because the strange girl came up to me and said, verbatim "Cheaters have to be taught the hard way. Now his girlfriend will know what a douche he is." and then she left, and I never saw her again. Needless to say, Myra ditched Mark that night, and never heard from him again.
Would you ever take it upon yourself to 'punish' a cheater? Would you do what that girl did, or do you think she was in the wrong?

1/2 eprop to the girl that marked him! It would've sucked if the situation went to your word vs. his. Although it probably wouldn't have. Glad it all worked out! He was a scumbag.
i would def punish him if i knew he was a cheater, why not? he needs to be called out.
I wouldn't makeout with a random stranger at a party or anywhere to begin with, so I won't do what she did. I hate cheating sluts so if that girl did that to oust him because he probably lied to her, too, then he had it coming. I wouldn't go out of my way to punish them. let other vigilantes do the justice

wow that guy sounds like a real idiot. I made out with a guy at a party, and he got my phone number...and later I found out he had a girlfriend. So maybe that guy deserved a hickey to explain too.

props!I think she did a good thing (the make out girl) That was really smart and there was really no way that Mark could explain that big hickey plus I doubt that your friend would have believed you anyways.

The guy knew he was at a party with his girlfriend's friend. What an idiot. Was he drunk? how does he not realize a hicki was being left?
Don't get me wrong, glad the girlfriend found out so she can leave him, but that kid sounds like all kinds of dumb.wow, that's pretty great actually, that worked out for everyone. i mean sucks for myra but at least she broke it off when she did.

Depends on the guy. Guys cheat for many reasons. For this reason some men learn from their mistakes and don't do it again. Judging from this guy's actions, he may not have learned. She did the girl a good service by letting her know he was a total douche. If he just say made a one or two time mistake, it would have been nice for his or her friend to have a talk with him to set him straight. At which point if he was not a douche, but just a man who may have made a mistake, he may come clean with his girl and/or break up with her due to his actions, but do it with some dignity and respect for her. Some people just don't know what they do when they are under the influence, in his case, he seemed to be quite knowledgeable of what he was doing.
