When Men Cheat the Most
Reasons Men Two-Time During Summer
"Remember when you were a kid and summer meant no school, freedom, and fun? Well, that attitude carries over into adulthood, leaving us with the sense that during these months, the usual rules don't apply. "Some men take this to mean that it's okay to cheat once the hot weather rolls around," explains Daniel Kruger, PhD, evolutionary psychologist at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. "They think, Oh, it's just a summer fling, as if normal couple behavior is on hiatus."
That same outlook also makes people associate the summer with adventure. "Now is the time when you're more apt to try something new, and any novelty increases your body's production of dopamine, which triggers the release of testosterone — two chemicals associated with energy, elation, and sex," explains Helen Fisher, PhD, author of Why We Love. Translation: A guy may seek sexually charged situations and could give in if tempted."
So, according to the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, men cheat the most during summer months, due to their brain saying that, "Hey, this is the time to act single," even if the man is in a relationship. I'm not sure how to feel about this, so of course, it's open for discussion by my readers.Personally, I don't see this as an excuse to cheat. While I do think more people cheat in the summer time, I don't really think Cosmo is providing a valid argument. Hmph.
What do you all think of this reasoning?

Men come up with all sorts of silly excuses as to why they cheat.
I'm surprised Cosmo didn't link the cheating to women wearing tank tops in the hot, summer heat!
Well, they did quote a reputable psychologist. But maybe I'm biased since I sort of know him/am familiar with some of his research. It definitely doesn't surprise me though. Things in the workplace slow down over the summer too.
Hum, I was cheated on last summer emotionally, then that following fall physically. Maybe there is some sort of relation o_o
I dont think it's exceptable anytime. i understand the relation with the feeling of freedom but if you're in a relationship i dont think cheating is exceptable period. I think if you want to sleep or be with someone else at least have the decancy to break it off with the person you're with.
Men and women cheat. They have different reasons. Some just don't want to be tied down. Some just can't fight the temptation. Some believe their partner is not giving what they want, so instead of being the bigger person and ending that relationship or talking to their partner about it, they go out and cheat with some. Or some simply are just scum.
I wouldn't really trust a one-sided magazine like Cosmo to tell me why men think this or that or what you need to do to land the perfect date or whatever.
yuck.
when I seek novelty, I go shopping at the mall or wherever and buy something pretty
other horndog people, men or women, might cheat and blame it on everything besides themselves.
Hmm..
Both men and woman cheat. Some for different reasons and the situations they were exposed to.
Does it make cheating acceptable? No.
Summer or not, you control what situations you expose yourself to. Temptation? You should be able to control yourself and know that your taken. If you are committed to that one person, stay committed if not, if you have the balls to cheat, you should have the balls to break it off with whoever you are with.
Just the way I see it.
You are all saying what I feel on the subject.
Is cheating acceptable during the summer? No.Is cheating acceptable during any time? No. If you can't go three months during the year without cheating and then blaming it on the "season", maybe you aren't mature enough to be in a relationship to begin with. There is always going to be a reason, or more so, an excuse. None of which are ever valid.
i think thats pretty dumb, this reasoning. either a persons gonna cheat or not, no matter the weather.
That article is stupid, and the guys that do it are morons controlled by hormones. Or even, Mormones?
"According to the latest issue of Cosmopolitan..." Yeah, that first part of the sentence right there should have told you to take whatever was said with a huge grain of salt. Sorry, but I've been sent a good amount of Cosmo articles by friends (females). They're almost all jokes. Especially when they talk about why men do things or what men want.
It's possible people are more likely to cheat in the summer for this reason. It could also be that women are wearing more revealing clothing. It could be that they're more likely to get out of the house. I don't know why. But really, why does it even matter?
Quoting Cosmo, the fastest way to lose credibility.
@mcmeister89@mancouch - Quoting Cosmo with the slightest belief that the article might be true is the quickest way to lose credibility.
Clearly, I posted this in the 'can you believe they would even suggest that?' context.
Cheated a few times, never once in summer
