I just read an interesting post about a girl who likes shorter guys, and it got me thinking about how often shorter guys and taller girls feel awkward in the dating world.
I'm a tall-ish girl... 5'7 and change. It's actually pretty difficult to find a guy who is significantly taller than me, and a lot of guys I've liked or been involved with have been about my height or shorter. It's even worse for a friend of mine who is 6'2". She's pretty much accepted that many guys she'll date will most likely be a little bit shorter than her.
And then there are the shorter guys. You would think they'd be perfect for the shorter girls, as they'd still probably be taller than them, but quite often, shorter girls want uber-tall guys too. What's the deal? Why do you want that guy if you can't even reach his lips without standing on a pile of books? That leaves the really short guys and the really tall girls for one another, and while that doesn't always bother me, it can be awkward to date someone when your boobs are at his eye-level.
And guys seem to go for the shorter girls, too. I'm pretty thin, but because I'm tall, I feel like I don't fit into the "small-girl" generalization that men seem to find attractive. People tell me I look modelish fairly often (and my supermodel-tall friend even more often) but it's difficult to find a guy who wants to date someone who isn't shorter.
Are there any guys out there who think tall girls are attractive?

I'm 5'10...and plenty of guys still think I'm pretty hot. I'm not even that thin, really, but I'm definitely not fat either. To me, even though I usually find shorter girls very attractive, I just think that tall girls are so much longer and it's so sexy to me. I can appreciate girls of all heights, really. But I enjoy being tall, I get a ton of compliments on my legs.
And no, I've never really been attracted to guys that are shorter than I am, but my boyfriend is about four inches taller than I am and I've never had much trouble finding taller guys, even if it was only an inch difference.
Oh! And when I went to school, I found a guy who has a fetish (kind of) for tall brunettes. There are definitely guys who find tall girls attractive.
I fucking love being tall. It makes me stand out.
I would never date somebody shorter than me. I just have never found someone attractive who is shorter than I am, even though I have definitely tried to get over it. It is what it is xD

I'm Asian and I'm 5ft 10. Dating Asian guys had been tough because their avg height IS my height, put some heels on and BAM, I'm out of luck. Then I opened up my "dating pool" and met some tall guys, but either they're really wide or really skinny, it didn't appeal to me. I HAVE dated guys shorter than me (approx 1-2 inches) and I even dated someone shorter AND younger than me, but it never lasts long because I LOVE my heels and I almost always find myself slouching in pictures to make myself seem shorter (as if hunching over with bad posture makes HIM look taller?).
Although, fortune will have it that I met my fiance. He's 6ft2. I'm happy. I still look petite next to him, he's wider than I am and I'm tall and slender (minus some problem zone from living/dating an Italian man), so we look tall and lean. :) Don't give up. Don't date shorter because there's nothing else out there. Date a shorter guy because YOU find yourself attracted to him. But try to avoid the 6inches to a foot gap. It just looks weird.
Na, tall girls and I don't get along since I stand at 5'3. It's ok though. It's like a mutual agreement. We're still on speaking terms, and we wave when we see each other, but we know it's never gonna happen.
I'm a short girl, 5ft2in, and I'd date a guy on the shorter side but, I think my minimum would have to be 5ft6in or 5ft7in. My bf now is around 6ft but, actually it's not hard to kiss someone much taller than you. I don't think it's so much that tall women aren't attractive for men, I think it's more that men don't feel as comfortable with tall women because it hurts their ego. Makes the weak ones feel less of a man. On the plus side, if you're a tall woman and you find a man comfortable with your height, he's probably a pretty good guy and pretty secure with himself. In that respect, tall women have it easier finding a decent guy, not one with dominance issues. So you definitely have something to be grateful for.
i don't care about someone's height. but seeing as i am 5'1, everyone i date ends up being taller than me... my boyfriend is taller than me by a head and some (if the picture to the left isn't too small, you can see our silhouettes in the middle) but everyone tells me he is "reallly short for a guy" because he's 5'10". whatever!

I am 5'10" and prefer to date guys a few inches taller than me.
I'm 6'5" and prefer taller men. Doesn't happen often, and my husfriend is about 4 inches shorter than me. I might stick with him though.
I'm about 5'4" and I like tall guys but not too tall like kim k.'s bf, because that's a scary giant. I prefer him to be at least slightly taller than me by a couple inches. 5'11" would be my ideal height in a guy because when I wear high heels, he'd still be slightly taller than me. my limit is probably around 6'4":D minimum probably around 5'8" but I prefer the 5'11"s
my prom date was 5'11" and he was just right because I'm 5'8" with heels
I was standing next to a shorter guy and when I looked at him, there was just no appeal. his body frame was similar to mine and he could probably fit into my jeans, which isn't attractive at all. I like the guy to have a bigger body frame than me, not fat, but toned and longer armspan than me. a tall guy, who can lift my entire body up with one of his toned arms is such a turn on for me. I don't mean those meathead wrestler types either, but medium toned taller guy

You're right. Obviously the most important factor in deciding who to be in a serious relationship with, is how much difficulty is involved in kissing them while standing. Why would I want a guy whom I connect with because we get along, or because he's really funny, or because he's really smart as well as kind? Obvies there's no logic in dating him if he has to bend down to kiss me.
Goshhh I hate posts like this... when will the height thing stop being a trendy topic to blog about on dating sites...

Maybe taller guys have better genes. In science class I learned that girls are subconsciously attracted to guys with better genes so their baby can have good genes. It's all about survival of the fittest. Back in the old days, you can see why girls preferred taller guys: who do you think can hunt animals and protect the family better, a pipsqueak or a tall athletic guy?
@ScarletMoth@xanga - Hey, didn't mean to offend. :P This isn't something that is life-or-death serious to me. And actually, I was mainly talking about short girls who have a standard of someone about a foot taller than them-- not short girls who love guys who happen to be taller.

Shit, I'm around 5'6 and its still hard to find a guy taller than me. Either I'm taller than I think, or I live in a city of short guys lol.
I'm around 5' and I prefer guys slightly taller than me (like around 5'6; no taller than 6' or else it's way too much of a height difference) though its not a deal breaker if he is at my height or slightly shorter..I just don't want a midget cause I need a guy who can help me out (i.e muscular lean and tall enough so he can help me around the house or at the grocery store ;P)

Based on recent datingish and lovelyish post you'd think the most important factors for a guy's desirability are this height and "length". If I'm interested in a girl I'll approach her regardless of her height. If I'm 5'10" and she's 6'1", and she has a issue with the height difference that's her preference. I don't worry about it and move on.
