  • The First Sleepover is Always a Nightmare

When dating someone new I always dread that first sleepover. It's all fun and games when you are both awake and kissing and cuddling. But when the lights go out you realize you will be stuck trying to stay still for 8 hours, trying to fall asleep without unconsciously kicking your significant other in the groin.

The first sleepover is always the worst.

You get ready to go to bed and try to get comfortable and once you are spooning and your head is positioned just right so your hair looks great laying down and its not in his mouth. So you attempt to fall asleep except now you are completely uncomfortable and you want to flop on your other side.

Now you are face to face and you become self conscious about breathing in his face so you space out your own breathing to match his so that you breath out at the same time in order to prevent it from blowing in his face. Finally after self-consciously thinking that he probably feels just as uncomfortable, you hear him snoring, he's out and so you fade into sleep.

But you wake up in a sweat and you check your phone to see it's only 3am. You are literally sweating to death from being trapped under the heavy arm of your boy toy and he's breathing hot air in your face and snoring like he's orchestrating a symphony. Your right arm is going numb from being too afraid to move and disrupt his sleep but now you have pins and needles and you have about 6 more hours until you can wake up pretending you had a great night's sleep.

Except you will wake up grumpy and tired and most likely with a stiff neck and that sleep that you needed last night was given up so you wouldn't disturb his. You think about how uncomfortable he must be too, having you in his bed with this whole breathing in each others face thing, and then suddenly you realize he isn't self conscious at all.

In fact, he doesn't even remember you are there as he flops over almost crushing you in the process and stealing the covers. So now instead of sweating to death you are shivering. He has his fan on full blast and all you are wearing is his t-shirt or a cute little lacy outfit you picked out for your first night. You not only can't sleep but now you are pissed off! Until you remember that you need to chill out and go back to sleep.

So you pull the covers from under his grip, move the fan to face you, tie your hair in a pony tail and stop acting so self conscious about something you must do. For all you know he already farted in his sleep five times so ignore the fact that you don't want him to think you are a bed hog and get your sleep on.

Do you hate the first sleepover? Ever kick your boyfriend/ girlfriend out of the bed?

Nah, I become paralyzed in my sleep and it's probably the only reason we can both fit on a twin size bed comfortably, because I take up so little room and will NEVER move an inch in my sleep. I move so little that I don't even get bed head. I mean the first time I slept in bed with my boyfriend was the first time I had shared a bed with anyone and the room was really hot, but I wasn't nervous. Just too warm, haha.

LMFAO!! I haven't slept over a guys house in a VERY long time, but anytime I would have someone new sleep over here I was pretty much exactly how you stated above. My biggest fear is that I will be the one farting in MY sleep and he will be freaked out.

  • thegirlwiththecamera@xanga

I don't actually remember the first time my boyfriend and I slept over - his place or mine. I'll have to think about that now! I do however still wake up in the middle of the night, and think "what if he doesn't remember I'm here and he wakes up and rolls onto me, or I scare him or something?!" Haha...never happens. We have figured out a good method to not stealing blankets though, and I never sleep well the first night back at his place, takes a few night to get used to it again!

My first sleepovers were fine. We spoon so we fit comfortably together. The only thing I have to deal with is the awkward arm, which I try to either place under her pillow or line it up by her neck underneath.

  • PunkRockCowboy@xanga

Wow... never happened to me before.

  • amourdunmonstre@xanga

Seriously? Mine have always been fine.

  • stanlee255@xanga

HAHAHA! Kinda like my first experience. I tried not to breathe on her... then I reaaaaaally wanna flip over, but my arm's over her and I can't move it. Ugh. After many times of doing this, we eventually just slept on your own half of the bed. That was the best way we did it :)

  • Chibi_Son_Gokou@xanga

You should try sleeping with a girl and then come back and tell us how that went.  Maybe it will go a little better for you.

  • AuCinema@xanga

I was completely smashed the first time I ever slept over my boyfriend's place. We were freshmen in college and he lived in an all-boys dorm. All I remember thinking is, "Oh, I hope I don't have to puke in the night since the only unisex bathroom is all the way in the basement."

Ugh, I cringe just thinking about it ... not my proudest moment. But after reading this, I guess being wasted saved me some stress - I'm pretty sure I was too drunk to care if I was breathing in his face.

  • loneshadow_wolf@xanga

All of that is so true! But it really isn't so bad. When I knock out I barely move at all unless I'm having an intense dream, which doesn't happen too often. Yeah the guy snores a LOT, and yeah, the whole breathing in the face thing is uncomfortable, but I don't think it's too hard to get used to. It's actually pretty comfortable :]

  • xxfl1@xanga

    haha thats hilarious/ridiculous.

i get what you mean though--- i can get nervous about some of those things. but overall they've been enjoyable. im a night person and the guys do conk out a lot faster though- haha. i naturally just stay up later..

well my first night with the guy im seeing was amazing:3 he is an incredible snuggler and i felt very comfortable. (but i do hear ya about the body adjustments, getting really hot, etc haha)

  • Dreaming_under_the_water@xanga

I'm the farter whilst asleep, not to mention talking in my sleep, walking in my sleep, and I'm also a chronic kicker and jumper in my sleep.

I've been teased about the farting before. Very embarrassing.

I'm about to tackle my first "official" sleepover with my boyfriend in a few days. I'm very excited but also kinda nervous. =\ We've taken short naps with each other before but not an actual sleepover. I'm just worried about the morning kisses with the morning breath lol

  • sunflowersforlove@xanga

I don't remember ever thinking about it when I slept over at my boyfriend's for the first time. It was like the most comfortable thing. I do kick him quite often though and I apparently try to initiate sex in my sleep. We don't cuddle while we sleep though. Before we sleep, sure, but once it's time to sleep I need my space haha. There's only one other guy I slept over with and we slept on the floor of a friend's house and it was uncomfortable because it was the first time I had been drunk and I kept waking up thinking, 'oh shit. What the hell am I doing laying next to this guy'. We didn't do anything though haha.

  • shinoseishi@xanga

I'm not a big fan of sleeping over or letting my lover sleep over.  The few times it has happened, I found myself moving to the side of his full size or my queen size bed instead of cuddling in the middle.  When I lived in a dorm (with a twin size bed) and my ex-boyfriend would stay over, he would always end up wrapping his arms and legs around me, like I was a body pillow, and I'd wake up and my legs would be numb.

I think I'm just not the sleeping over/cuddling type.

  • design3rskyline@xanga

    Hahaha! This is so true.

The first time I ever slept with a guy I was talking too, it wasn't much of a big deal. We didn't really cuddle ourselves to sleep/while we slept on purpose. Instead, we just slept on our own sides and that was it. Which is cool. Apparently I steal the covers a lot but I SWEAR I don't haha. However I can never fall deep asleep around someone in the same bed, so I always get crappy sleep regardless if I'm sleeping with a guy/friend/boyfriend.

One time my best friend came down to my prom house and I had a big king size bed all to myself, so instead of making him sleep on the floor/couch, I told him he could just sleep in my bed. We were both kinda drunk so I cuddled up to him as we were falling asleep and was totally out (being drunk makes it so easy to sleep!). Same couldn't be said for him, he said he kept waking up every few hours and hearing the music that was playing off my ipod and freaking out -__- anyways, so I wake up the next morning and I'm alone in the bed and my friend's on the floor and I'm like wtf?!!? I wake him up and I'm like, "Why are you on the floor?" He says, "You pushed me off..." Apparently when I was sleeping, I kept moving and nudging him over until he fell off. I'm like, "You're so dumb. One, you could have moved me over. Two, after falling off the bed, why didn't you just get on the other side of the bed?! It's huge!" He's so silly :P

I almost fell off my friend's bed at college, which is a loft bed. So scary! I also slept on a couch with a guy, and surprisingly it was really comfortable. That's it though, I think.

  • raspbxrrryjam@xanga

All I can really say about this is UR DOIN IT WRONG.

  • TheFashionableEconomist@xanga

don't think about it, i've never experienced what you've experienced before. All my sleepovers have been really pleasant

  • TheNotoriousGOD@xanga

this is never a problem with a queen bed, but in a twin, i was miserable every single fing time.  i never got any sleep.  the last girl i was banging was always passed out.  to this day, i have no idea how she was able to do it.

  • HollowTendencies@xanga

Aww I remember when I first spent the night with my boyfriend, actually we were in a hotel, does that count? It was so cute, we didn't even have sex, we slept PERFECTLY together. I was never uncomfortable once throughout the night. We didn't wake up until noon and then still laid in the bed together until about 3pm. He started playing songs on his cell phone and we were singing them together while laying in bed. That was five months ago and every night with him from then on has been equally amazing. :)

  • anonymiaous@xanga
    Lol. Ummmmmmm gonna say no.
  • xraindropsonroses@xanga

Hmm... some people just aren't good to sleep with (not even talking about sex!).
But, if you tend to fall asleep in 3 minutes, and don't wake up easily, then the first sleepover is nothing. I'm fortunate to fall asleep quickly, almost regardless of the situation.   :)

  • twentyfourskies@xanga

The only times I've slept with someone else were all in the summer/close to summer, in a twin bed since I was at school. Yeah. Can't say I've really experienced those lovely cuddly sleepovers you hear about.

I did sleep in the same bed with a friend once, but the bed was bigger and we were separated by a pillow. That was probably the only time I've slept completely comfortably with a guy, and it wasn't even a boyfriend.

  • melanieve@xanga

Hahahaha. This has happened to me!

  • Hinase@xanga

I've kicked my bf out of bed..but it didn't happen with our first sleepover. It's fine now, though of course, I live with him now.
