Sometimes Valentines Day Doesn't Have To Suck
Now I have had my fair share of sad, depressing, "I'm painting my nails black this year" Valentines days and most of the time the "holiday" is just disappointing especially when you are single. But not every Valentines day has to suck even if you have to plan it.
My freshman year of college my boyfriend at the time had a basketball game the night of Valentines day right in between the time we would be able to go have a romantic dinner. So I took matters into my own hands. Now usually I would say that Valentines day is really for the guys to plan, but since my boyfriend at the time probably wouldn't do anything I decided not to sulk and make a romantic night for the both of us.
I knew that he would be too tired so I just planned on taking him back to my campus to hang out but little did he know I had a whole night planned out. So my roommates did me a solid and left for a few hours so my plan could go smoothly.
I hung black curtains that blocked him from seeing their areas, grabbed a cardboard box from the mail room and covered it with a red tablecloth and candles. I had Italian food delivered so it would be there when we got in and had a soundtrack playing on my laptop so it would sound like we were in an Italian restaurant. Under my coat I was wearing a sexy waitress outfit and when we got to my dorm I made him close his eyes and wait outside.
Once I opened the door I welcomed him into the restaurant/ dorm room and handed him a menu including all the food I had delivered. He was shocked, I don't know if he actually appreciated it but I had fun making up an entire plan to try to make someone else happy.
Not every Valentines day is spectacular but I think its up to you whether you want to spend the night watching "Dear John" hating your life or spend the night loving the people who are actually in your life.
Any funny Valentines day stories?

My boyfriend and I don't celebrate Vday on Vday. Our first date took place on the night before Vday, and so that is now when we celebrate Vday.
That sounds AWESOME!
but this would require a S/O. And if you have an S/O, typically your Vday isn't that bad. To all the single people, we're on a different story. haha
why are we talking about V-Day in July? and sadly this doesn't help all the singles out there.
Now being single is living it. ;)
Why is this being posted up? VDay won't be here until nearly another year..O.o it's july after all.
Awwww thats such a sweeeet thing to do for your BF!! And haha I don't mind this being posted in July!
Though I thought this post would be for the singles lmao
yeah, I really HOPE no people who aren't single seriously tell themselves, "Valentines Day sucks! But I guess I can try to make it work out."
I may enjoy V.Day as a single person, but everyone KNOWS we're the only ones allowed to complain about it if we want to!
lol i was confused on why there's a post on valentine's day. I'm single and just bother not giving a crap about the date. I know it's just another gimmick to suck the money out of our wallets and I hate those damn white bears holding the read heart. I do however find it cute when I see the old couples and the old lady with flowers in her hand.
Back when I was single, I used to make it a point to get together with friends who also lacked significant others, and do something fun together. :) That way we didn't have to be alone thinking about the fact we were single on such a day. The whole being single thing never really bothered me, but I know it did for some of my friends... So I started trying to help them not think about it too much, and just enjoy the day for what it was... A day with friends whom love you. :) Hopefully, someone else is carrying on my tradition. :)
