Why I Find Women With Short Hair Unattractive

If you've known me for a while, you would know about my disdain for short hairstyles on women and how it looks unattractive, dull, ugly, bothersome, and devastating. I will never date a woman with short hair (unless she plans on growing it out) simply because she's unattractive to me, and I think that's perfectly okay. Of course, other people, particularly other women, will try to place this huge guilt trip on me for not being open-minded enough. What many women fail to realize is that attraction is not sparked for men the same way it is for women. Therefore, I will speak of attraction in female terms:You're a woman and you have to choose between two guys to go out with (unrealistic scenario, I know). One guy is physically attractive, yet he is pretty boring. All he wants to talk about is technical topics, ask boring and repetitive questions, and talk about himself. Plus, he'll hide behind you if you two are walking and a big dog runs up to you while barking and growling. The second guy is average looking, maybe even ugly. However, he cracks you up and makes you feel good every time you talk with him, is unpredictable, and will make that dog run away crying if it tries to attack.
Just based on the given facts, which guy would you rather go out with? I would expect most women to choose the second guy. To convert to male attraction, for me at least, a woman with short hair is as attractive as the first guy is typically to a woman, and a woman with long hair is as attractive as the second guy is typically to a woman. Lest you forget, attraction is not a choice, so I cannot CHOOSE to be attracted to women with short hair even if I tried.
Long hair is beautiful, artistic, and exciting. Much of the excitement from making out with a woman comes from playing with her hair and running your fingers though it. There's also something about long hair that really turns me on when loose strands run down a woman's face or down her arms, or when it flows in the wind. I find that more artistic than any tattoo. Short hair on women looks dull, boring, and depressing just like the guy with no sense of humor whatsoever.
It is also manly. I would feel like I was dating another guy. Plus, long hair is relatively hard to take care of, and I admire a woman who is willing to put in the effort to do so. That says a lot about her. I would even go as far as saying that women who have short hair just because they don't want to spend time taking care of their hair are as lazy as guys who sit around wearing headsets and playing X-Box all day.
There's also a lot of value with long hair as it usually takes a long time for hair to grow out, yet it only takes a few seconds to grow it. When a woman gets a haircut, it's like someone chopping down a big oak tree - it took many many years for that tree to grow, yet it only takes a couple of hours at the most to reduce it to a stump. The worst part is after a woman gets a haircut, she is fathomed by thousands of "fabricated" compliments just so they can make her feel like she made the right decision.
I will even go as far as boycotting movies that have hair-cutting scenes in them. Just to name a few off the top of my head: V For Vendetta, GI Jane, Kingdom of Heaven, The Messenger (and other Joan of Arc movies), any movie about Rapunzel, Waterworld, Drop Dead Fred, Jane Eyre, and...some others I can't think of right now.
You don't have to agree with what I'm saying, as this is solely my opinion. After all, I do not use Xanga as a dating service, so it's totally irrelevant to you. Instead of bashing me for choosing to feel this way, you should feel honored that I am as selective as I am.

"Instead of bashing me for choosing to feel this way, you should feel honored that I am as selective as I am."
Wait, why am I honored?
i have long hair so i LOVE this post LOL
I'll admit to saying longer hair breaks my neck, but there are some women out their who can pull off the short hair, and i would rape them. But for the most part, its the nice thick manes that get me.
Wow. This post. LMAO.
I've known guys who prefer long hair and others who like short hair. I think everyone has difference preferences when it comes to dating--which is a good thing. Otherwise we'd all want the same people =) haha
I have long hair as well so i like this post! Lol but i think women can be beautiful with whatever length of hair they have.
This is for the most part how my husband actually feels too lol :) He really does not like short hair on women and feels it takes away from their femininity as a whole (right or wrong, that's his opinion). I myself have always had long hair...the longest being just above my bum haha, but I recently got it cut shorter to a bit longer than my shoulders.
I don't think us women should change just for guys to like them. It's always the inside that counts.
@CecilliaMarie@xanga - My dad likes short hair on my mom because he'd be complaining how it gets on his face.
I absolutely LOVE long hair on girls. Like, down to her butt long. I don't mind short hair depending on how it's styled, but 99 times out of 100, it's long hair, ftw.

SO untrue. I spend way more time taking care of my hair and styling it now that it's short than I ever did when it was long. I put a lot of effort into my short hair. So does your "that says a lot about her" apply to me as well?
@DarkWaver@xanga - And you would RAPE them? A little extreme, don't you think?
Your opinion is your opinion, however...
"I would even go as far as saying that women who have short hair just because they don't want to spend time taking care of their hair are as lazy as guys who sit around wearing headsets and playing X-Box all day."
Women have lives too. Sometimes we just don't have the time to spend on our hair, day after day. Mine's not short, but it's definitely not long! You know why?I don't have time to do anything more than wash and brush it. Bun for work. Set to go. BABAM.
terrible comparison, this makes no sense.
so you'd divorce your wife if she cut her hair?
LOL WHAT. Are you trying to justify an opinion with assumptions and generalizations? If you like long hair, great. If you don't like short hair, also great. I just don't see why we need to feel glorious that you do so. Not everyone is going to change themselves so they can look attractive to you.
obviously you've never seen victoria beckham rock a pixie cut...
Oh God really? We're posting this on another -ish site AGAIN?! Haven't we heard enough from this moron?
Thank you for your honesty.
.... I have shorter hair, (well, little longer than chin length) and it is SO time consuming to style. It's not long enough will all the layers to just throw it up in a bun or pony tail ... and it's too short to just let it be natural, or I'd look like a clown all day long. Therefore, I have to spend about an hour or so getting ready just for my hair alone. I have to dry it, straighten all the layers, and then style it. It's almost ridiculous because when my hair was long - I could throw it up in a pony tail in ten minutes and still look cute.
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your post, as some men do prefer longer hair over shorter, much like some prefer blondes over brunettes, etc. I just know for a fact that the section where you talk about "shorter hair = lazy women" is only the opposite. Any hairdresser will tell you that shorter hair on women is nine times out of ten more time consuming to maintain than longer hair is.
Get your facts straight, bro. :)
Personally, any girl I was ever attracted to had short hair.
Everybody has a right to have their own preferences, no matter how silly it might seem to other people. But if you're at the point where you're judging people solely on their outwardly appearance, you're missing out big time, brother. Besides, hair can grow. And hairstyles change. I get what you're saying about the physical attracting being an integral you-cannot-deny-its-power thing and all, but that shouldn't be a coverup of just acting a little dense. I could sense your tone of trying to be reasonable, but you should pick off the idea that women and men are taxonomically from two different universes- because it's a little false, and might be a turn-off for some potential chicks interested in you (this is datingish right?). Come on, that thought feels like a pitstop, and there's way more to understanding women than just that they garble a lot more and a translation needs to be made between man-lingo and woman. I think avoiding movies with chicks with short hair is a little extreme, but I guess if you're really adamant about it, there's no point in arguing. My two cents, and I hope you find someone (or have already found), who thinks similarly with you. =)
Shorter hair does NOT mean a woman is too lazy to take care of it, and longer hair does NOT mean a woman is any more hard-working. There are plenty of women with shorter hair than mine that put more effort into their styles, and probably spend more money to take care of their hair too. And I've seen women with long hair who simply don't get it cut, and do nothing special with it because they don't care.
I usually go for long hair because I like it
but the girl in the picture - her short hair looks really good on her
I'm glad you made this post because so many ppl are afraid to say what they like and what they don't like because of the negative comments they might get. I personally don't like men with long hair past their ears. I'm typically not attractive to them. Usually, their hair looks like they don't wash or comb or it. It could also be the opposite where they take too much time taking care of their hair that they might as well be a woman. lol.
Everyone has their preferences. I do have more, but like i said before...im one of those ppl who are too afraid to say them because i know that i will get negative feedback so im just going to stop writing now. lol.
I actually think it is a good comparison.... to a point.
Some women with short hair have to spend a lot of time with it, but that doesn't exactly mean that have to spend that much time with it. Short hair really doesn't require a lot of attention, but some girls who have short hair decide to put a lot of effort into their hair because they like a certain style that takes a long time or they just honestly don't know what they are doing and it takes them a while.
But let’s face it, when girls want a haircut that will cut down on time to get ready, they go for a short hair style.
However, long hair takes time period. Drying your long hair will ALWAYS take longer than short hair no matter what method you use. Running a flat iron or a curling iron will ALWAYS take longer for long hair. Using product? You’re going to need more for long hair AND you are going to take longer to disrepute it throughout all that long hair instead of a short hairstyle. Then making sure everything stays in place? Yeah… long hair once again is going to take longer.
Plus, long hair allows more freedom for different styles. Short hair is limited in what it can and cannot do. But long hair can transform into many different looks… and who doesn’t like variety? I’m not saying short hair is one dimensional, but I am saying if you were to count how many ways you can style a pixie cut and how many styles you can do with a girl who has hair past her shoulders, the second girl will have many more options.
So the OP has a good point about it speaking a lot for a girl willing to put forth the effort to maintaining her long hair. It isn’t easy. It takes time, money, and a little know-how in order to make keep up one’s long locks.
The one thing I will give short hair credit is the fact that a “bad” hair day is harder to cover. Long hair has the ever so clever benefit of being pulled up into a pony-tail… but that comes with its own price. Once you pop that ponytail in your hair that majority of the time you will have a kink in your hair that will take a good amount of time to get out (for many it doesn’t matter what hair tie you use, it leaves the kink). Either you have to straighten it out with a flat iron which takes forever…. or you have to shower, dry, and style which takes even longer.
@DarkWaver@xanga - You and people like you that don't know the proper meaning of the world "rape", you seem to think its means your allowed to say it if you find something sexual appealing to you. there for "rape" is okay to say. If your going to say a word like that publicly, maybe you should re-think it?
learn the true meaning behind the world you just threw around like it means nothing. And to say you'd rape someone for there hair length it really truly disgusting.
If your trying to say you find it sexually appealing/turn on, and you'd probably be ten times more likely to have sex with someone who has say what ever you like, SAY THAT. saying 'i'd rape them', is really offensive.
and @OP
I swear I saw this on one of the other "ish" sites. o-o why did you just post it on this one?
Ehhh...why should I feel honored that you're as selective as you are? ...lol. All I can say about you is that you are an incredibly shallow and superficial person.
