Women Are Like Water
I've been thinking a lot about women: what makes us unique; what lends us power; how we see ourselves and each other; how we appear to other humans; what we are capable of.Today I came across this quote, which I remember scribbling into a journal when I was sixteen or seventeen years old, from a passage in Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin in which Giovanni is persuading the main character to forget about his girlfriend in France and give HIM a chance instead:
Women are like water. They can be tempting like that, and they can be that treacherous, and they can seem to be that bottomless, you know? And they can be that shallow. And that dirty.

I think describes both sexes, and indeed everyone.
Makes me think Giovanni really wants to get laid.
This only makes me angry.. because I told the porter at work to buy 2 cases of Ice Mountain and he came back with Dasani because appartently it was cheaper. That's cute and all but Dasani... is not water. Try again. Thanks.

if you aren't careful and/or refuse to heed warning, but want to swim further to find the sexy mermaid, then you'll likely be swept under a strong current and drown, because she was only a mirage when you had severe heatstroke and was hallucinating
sometimes the waters can be smooth sailing and lovely, but if you cross her the wrong way by littering in her territory with your trash, then she'll capsize your boat and you'll meet your demise as you drown!
