The Oddest Way I Picked Up a Guy

Everything about this pick-up was off: the timing, the topic of conversation, and the method of exchanging phone numbers. It was 9am on a weekday and I was scouting the campus parking lot for an available space. I'd found one just beyond the border of Alaska when another car pulled up next to mine. He was cute. I was gathering my things when I noticed he was waving at me to roll down my window - which I did, doubting that I would get into any danger on school grounds (no matter how lazy the security guards were).
“I wouldn’t park there,” he said. “See, that’s right under the light pole and a lot of birds sit at the top.”
Gasp! Pigeon poop on my hood. I moved my car a couple spaces down in no-man's-land, got out of car, and thanked him for the tip. He didn't have to save me from a poop-covered car, I thought as I walked to class. I sat through my lecture thinking about how I should repay the favor instead of political science. Maybe a cup of coffee. But it would be nearly impossible to find him in a school of 10,000 students.
By the end of class I'd thought of something funny that I had the courage to actually do. I walked back to my car and found his still there, so I took out a Post-it and wrote: “hope this is better than bird poop on your car,” with my number and snapped it under his wiper.
He called to say it was the most original way a girl had ever given him her number. Even though it was a bust in the romance department, I'll always have the story.
What's the strangest way you've been picked up? Done the picking up?

Why was it a bust in the romantic depart.? Did he have a girlfriend?
And i LOVEEEEEEDDDDDD this story. very cute. Reminds me of something I would do, only not sure if I would have had the courage to with a guy I just met. kudos!
Not odd at all. If anything, it's clever and witty. Kudos to you.
Gave my number to a stranger on the train, he never even saw my face as I was walking off. Been together for 2 1/2 years since then.
@starcrossedloversdivine@xanga - That's epic!!
Earlier this year, I was walking in the mall and complimented a guy on his turquoise-colored hair. We've been inseparable since. :)
Aw, that's cute.
awesome !@starcrossedloversdivine@xanga
This was very cute hahah
i normally hate it when girls use the expression "picking up guys," since girls normally don't have any active role in the process, but i have to give you a lot of credit for taking initiative here.
Swoooooooooooooon!! Haha! Thats the cutest thing! ;]
Cute! I wish I had the guts to do something like that, but it seems like 98% of the guys at my school are already taken. (And no, that's actually not much of an exaggeration. Oh, grad school... *sigh*)
omg that is soooo cute! hahaha
whyy was it a bust in the romance department? MORE DETAILS PLEASEEE hehe
I made the moves on my bf. I kissed him first and even started the relationship (because he wasn't too sure and was too shy and didn't know how I felt) and it's a great relationship!
damn...i need to carry post it's more
I met my husband on the school bus, and it only took two years and a mutual friend playing matchmaker between us to get the ball rolling
Haha quite cute! Props to you for having the courage to do that :)
If a girl left me a note like that, I know it would definitely bring a smile to my face.
Ha, this is awesome.
Mmm the most adventurous number exchanges I've orchestrated have been when I meet a person while out with a group of friends, and have invited them to the next spot/party in the night, and then I suggest that we exchange numbers incase we're separated from point A to B.... they don't need to see us there, but I atleast I get the math :] Or, I get to talking to someone and suggest that I have a friend who they should meet for whatever lucrative purpose, and that they should give me their number so that I can pass it on. :D These sound a bit creepier as I write them out... hehe

Thank god it didn't rain. The color of the post it note would have run and stained his car xD
I've done the note the windshield before. But it only works if you've met the other person and their car (or by their car), otherwise you come off as a creep.
