I'd probably only tell if we became official or something like that. Otherwise, they'll find out if things go well enough.

My parents knew about my adventure into the online dating world from the beginning. They were actually the biggest obstacle between me and him because I still lived at home - curfew was 10 PM and I was 20 years old. They dictated when I could and couldn't see him --- a problem eventually fixed by moving in with him.

So when you can see this relationship going somewhere, then you can tell people. Until then, what's a little privacy to make it that much more special?

Depends how close you are with them, especially if you live with them or see them on a day-to-day basis. But generally whenever you are planning on having them get to know her (when you are comfortable with them meeting her) or just when you are excited and comfortable enough to tell them, it's okay to tell them. They don't have to get super attached right off the bat if you still are unsure about her, but you know, if she's becoming a big part of your daily life, you might wanna tell 'em :)

I let my mom know I was seeing someone after we'd been seeing each other for a few weeks. My dad didn't find out until later, and not even from me. After becoming "official," I let my ex know about my new guy because he's started hanging out around our son, so I thought he should be informed. My ex then called my dad to find out more details that aren't any of his business, and ended up telling my dad before I was able to. They still haven't met him yet, and we've been seeing each other for a couple of months now. I told close friends that I was seeing someone from the start, though. It's easier for them to see it as a date than something long-term right away, which is what my parents are likely looking for!
