Yes, I'd love it if the man of my dreams climbed up a vine, into my bedroom window, and surprised me with two tickets to Paris for the weekend for an impromptu wedding in the gardens of Versailles just as much as the next girl.
And I would never bash romance, especially since I spent the last two and half years with a caveman of a boyfriend, begging him to show me some.
But sometimes, you can't go wrong with some good old-fashioned humor. The truth is (as any girl who has set her hair on fire during a candlelit dinner, or slipped and fallen during a strip tease knows),
most romantic moments end up being awkward. Especially if it's not the usual nature of the relationship. But a sense of humor will never fail you.
As Lorelai Gilmore put it,
"You want someone cool to hang out with until you drop dead." It's important to have someone who will laugh with you through your best and worst moments, and be your friend as well as your partner.
This is how true happiness is achieved in relationships, not through showering each other with gifts, poems, and overly romantic gestures. Although that wedding in Versailles would be pretty awesome, I want to be able to count on the groom to laugh with me for the rest of my laugh.
Which do you prefer: intense romance or a great sense of humor?

Humour leads to romance. ;)
Humor. Definitely humor. The romance is nice, but it isn't something that can be kept up daily--nor should it be...it should be special. Humor is something that gets you through every day. If you can't laugh with your partner, you're probably with the wrong person.

A nice mix of both.
Humor.
Both...im greedy <_<
Either..
great sense of humor. roses and candlelight dinners can suck it.
Humor, hands down. For one, it's never faked. You can't fake funny. Secondly, think of how you feel when a boyfriend/girlfriend cracks a hilarious joke and you end up laughing for ten minutes straight - it is SUCH a good feeling, and after you feel like it's the best day ever, just coz of that joke. It can brighten any day :)
I think the Gilmore Girls was probably the only sane television show on ABC family.Great sense of humor all the way! I remember having a date with my boyfriend and we were just laughing all night and having the greatest time that he made me feel like the first night we hugged and he gave me butterflies [:
Sense of humor. :]
I love it when my boyfriend makes me laugh.intense romance with a lover because like your description, if he didn't do anything different and treated me like his other friends, it would be like being in a relationship with a caveman than boyfriend. if I want someone cool to hang out with, who has a good sense of humor, then I'd get that humor from a gay best friend, which I don't have one, but would like a gay best friend because they are hilarious. however, a mixture of both would be ideal.
Humor, definitely. Romance could just feel awkward, and could get expensive. Humor is free :P
definitely humor. romance can come and go, but a guy either has a sense of humor or he doesn't.
Definitely sense of humor :)
Humor! I would rather laugh with my SO for a hundred years then receive one rose every day for those hundred years without a single chuckle.
Humour x 1,000,000!!!
But I hate the thought of romance. Makes me feel kinda nauseous. It has its' place, I guess, but seriously, give me humour any day.HUMOR, all the way. Romantic gestures freak me out most of the time. But if I know I can laugh with a guy, I'm much more comfortable when he does something romantic.
Gotta have a best friend.
OH GILMORE GIRLS. But i have no sense of humor, and thus, no wimens.
(i have to dust my pee pee off every three weeks or so)
Little of column A, little of column B. Humor is a must but with humor and a good connection the relationship can easily be intensely romantic, too.
My boyfriend and I spend 75% of our time together laughing. Our senses of humor totally click and I always know what to say to make him laugh hard and vice versa. I've never experienced that with someone before now, and I must say, it keeps us happy and smiling every day.
Sometimes I'll be on the brink of getting mad at him for something and he'll make a joke or tell me a hilarious story and I completely forget I was going to get mad haha
"...I want to be able to count on the groom to laugh with me for the rest of my laugh. "
was that intentional? haha :)
we laugh me. and i have no problem with this.
Humour, without a doubt!Â
