Help! How Do I Ask Him Out?
I've known this guy for over a year, but we're not really good friends. We say hello to each other in the hall whenever the mood strikes, but we don't talk much, unless with a group of friends. Though we're not close, I know he's a really good guy. He's really smart, funny, and has just the right amount of awkward on his side.
I've had bad experiences with asking guys out, and I think the fact that we're not close will make it even harder, but I'd really like to get to know him better, even if not romantically at first. I'm also a very awkward person (awkward silences/pauses are my specialty) so I need to keep that in mind.Any suggestions?

don't be afraid of what to say.. just talk to him and maybe he will form a little lovin for you.. if not then it is his loss.
Just ask him if he wants to hangout sometime, not a date but just to get to know each other better.
@UnconventionalButterfly@xanga - I concur.
just go for it. He perhaps has been waiting for you to ask him out things that make you both know each other better :D
Since awkwardness is your forte (as it is mine too :-p) I would say, just ask him. What's more awkward...asking him, or not asking him and never knowing if you guys could have known each other better? The moment doesn't have to be perfect. Sometimes, the awkwardness makes it funnier later and you guys may just laugh about it.
I know how you feel though, I've never really "asked" a guy out. I only once confessed to a neighborhood boy when I was 7 during a game of hide and go seek when we were hiding in a garden shed together that I thought he was cute. That didn't go so well.
Wear a ring on every finger, walk straight up to him, put your fist in front of his face, and ask, "Yo! Wanna go out sometime?"
LOL totally kidding! I admire your confidence to ask HIM out. I never had the courage to do it myself, so I can't really give you first-person advice. BUT... I agree with everyone else and say to just go for it! He'll either say YES and everything will be awesomely awkward (or awkwardly awesome!), or he'll say NO and he'll be missing out on something that could've been great. If you ask me, there's nothing to lose. :)
All the power to ya!
okay... I say, just ask him cause 1 of 2 things can happen if you ask, he can say "yes" or he can say "no"...You always know what to expect either way if you ask...There are a million things that could happen if don't ask. A: Someone else could snatch him, B: he may lose interest thinking you don't want to get to know him better or C: you will wonder what would have happened if you would have just asked..
Hope that helps.. :)
ah! good luck. I hope people give you some good advice, I'm pretty bad on the asking people out front.
casually brush against his crotch-area.
@lonelystrangergirl@xanga - grabbing it usually gets our attention as well.
But I would suggest being straight forward because I rarely get when a woman is flirting or trying to ask me out.
I have a LOT of experience asking girls out; I'm sure girls asking guys isn't really that much different or harder.
My BEST advice is:
Seeing as you pass each other every now and then to say 'hello', this must mean you have opportunities to stop him to talk one-on-one. After you talk to him a few times (mind you it has to be one-on-one conversations), then slip the question in if he wants to go out sometime.
The whole talking one-on-one thing builds "comfort" with your 'target'.
my advice just ask
maybe you should try talking to him more before asking. if you have time together with other friends, make a point to strike up conversation with him during those times so you can get more comfortable. once you don't feel so weird approaching him, just bring up an outing idea and ask if he'd like to join you, for fun.
I don't know that I would flat out ask him out at this point in time, given that you don't really know him. If he's anything like me, and I acknowledge that I could be wrong, you might scare him away if you just ask right out of the blue when you two hardly know each other let alone barely speak to each other. I would try and get to know him better first and see where things go from there, but that's just my opinion.
wow...i'm actually gonna take this advice because I'm in a situation similar to this. muahha I shall get my man = D
so...just wondering. have you asked him out yet...
i wish i can be brave.
i wish i'm not afraid! i wish i had a great personality...
i wish i'm interesting..haha. anyways! ~
one day...maybe? but i'm really tired of saying that..
