  • Playlists Are For Lovers

Music is a huge part of our everyday lives and, for many of us, music is also closely associated with love.

Every Monday we are going to bring y'all songs or videos that have helped us get through the good and the bad, songs that have special significance to us, songs that we think are terrific and want to share with our awesome readers. Go ahead and leave us suggestions for next week in the comments!

This week we have a mix of songs that came out recently and other that hearken back aways.

A song to fall in love to: "I'd Like To" by Corinne Bailey Rae

I know, I know, we used another song by her last week, but she is seriously the best for love songs. I think this captures the perfect summer romance. It's so much about surroundings and remembering the all the things that were going on around us while we were falling in love. It makes me think of sunshine, bare shoulders, and flirty glances-- it's the stage of intense infatuation incarnated.

song to get it on to: "Electric Feel" by MGMT

Urgh, this song is so sexy is should come with a warning label. I'm not a big electro fan, but whenever I hear this song start my hips get a mind of their own and my mind wanders toward sexual topics. Overall, it has a great combo of sexy lyrics, vocals, and beats. Whatever, it's time for sexy time.

song to cry to: "Nicest Thing" by Kate Nash

There are a few songs that make my throat close up every time I hear them. This is one of them. For anyone who has experienced what they truly think is true love and then had their heart stepped on, this is the song for you. The yearning in Nash's voice is thick and all encompassing. What she expressing isn't novel-- it's the pain we all know and can't avoid.

song to jam out to: "Hit the Heartbreaks" by Black Kids

A departure from all the heavy stuff, this song is pretty fun and carefree. Basic idea: figuring out cheating is totally not worth getting your ass kicked for. Fair enough.

    Enjoy!
