Attracted To Differences
I was born and raised in Hong Kong. When I was a kid and the British were still in charge, there were lots of white people living in Hong Kong.
I always thought white people were more good looking and mysterious. They had blonde hair and blue eyes which I don't have. When I was in high school a few years ago, I was addicted to Jesse McCartney and watched his video "Beautiful Soul" multiple times a day.
Now that I'm going to college in the U.S., I feel like I am always surrounded by gorgeous people... And all the guys I've ever had a crush on are white boys.
Have you ever been attracted to people because they don't look like you? Has anyone else experienced this?

Definitely! I am 100% Irish American to the fullest extent, from the freckles to the paleness to the red hair, but have never been as attracted to Irish or other very light guys as I am to more Mediterranean looking guys-- most of my boyfriends have been of Italian or Greek descent. I love me some olive colored man!
In a way yes and no for myself. Though my bf's family is from Honduras and I'm half white(European) and half El Salvadorian, I don't really get attracted to a guy just because of how different he is from me. I have dated White guys, and black guys before..so honestly, it never mattered to me. I tend to look at personality more often than not and any differences later/second.
i'm white and i dated a mixed guy once... i'm not one for differences usually. i usually like white guys and ones that are chubby and have brown hair like me haha. but i hardly date so it's just what i've experienced so far.
I'm Korean and Irish. My boyfriend is black. I've never been attracted to any other race, though.
I encourage everyone of one race to get together with someone of a different race.
When all the races mixed together, all the children will be brown and green coloured -- or something like that. Evolution blah blah blah.

I don't it. I South American, and I love Asian people, esp. Japanese guys. There is just something really quirky about them I love. Im in America and all my Asian girlfriends can't stand asian guys. I dont get it. lol. ^.^ Vm
I'm white white white, but I love me some Asian men. But I find black and Hispanic guys attractive a lot of the time too, and then if the white guy has darker skin and hair I could see myself being attracted to him. Tall, dark, and handsome is definitely my thing. I don't know, for some reason dating a white guy seems kind of boring, because a lot of the time we share a lot of the same culture and traditions. With other ethnicities I'm more interested in their culture and it feels like they have more to teach me and visa versa.

Yeah I understand that. It's not on the matter of racism, it's just how our attraction works. I tend to like white guys as well. Actually closest to an asian guy ... was a half asian who looked basically white. So basically, I know where you're coming from.
Well considering how difficult it is for me to find a guy that is the same ethnic background as me (Japanese, Native American, Euro mix) this is true to some extent. I tend to be attracted to men of many different backgrounds, mixed or not.

I'm blond with blue eyes and have noticed that I generally do go for guys with darker hair and eyes, but not always. Whatever appeals to me, appeals to me.
I'm asian and I'm usually attracted to latin men but they don't look that different because they often have dark hair and brown eyes like me.

I actually have the same feeling as you do lol when i surrounded by Canadians , I always think that they look so amazing xD but i think all the races have their own beauties :) so seriously someday i would like to date an Asian LOL (ya ...after all these years in HK,I never been with any Asian guys=_=)I tend to be attracted to white guys too. My family are very Asian and not crazy about the idea of me dating one let alone marrying another race. Even though I was born and live in the US my entire life my parents still think we are living on someone else land therefore we are not as accepted by other race. I can't blame them, at work they encounter many racist who wants them to leave because they are Chinese. I hate those people, they ruin the mix culture bond for the rest of us.

Yeah I can relate to this. I'm Puerto Rican and I just can't see myself dating one or any other Hispanic male. I tend to stick to the eastern hemisphere and I am very partial to anyone who is mixed (ie my bf who is Japanese and Swedish).
I'm Chinese also and I feel the same way. I've never really liked an Asian guy actually. I've really only liked white guys.
