  • New Datingish Feature! Weekend Wedding Fever

Although I am not completely infected with the 24-year-old curse of Wedding Fever, I would say that I maybe... well... maybe I have a Wedding Cold.

I love watching wedding shows (David Tutera's My Fair Wedding being my runaway favorite), and when I stumble upon adorable wedding ideas on the internet, my heart occasionally goes aflutter. So once a week, I'm going to try to share some of these little finds with my Datingish buddies.

The topic this week? Personalized cake toppers!

Now I almost universally agree with the taste of Mr. Tutera when it comes to the visual aesthetic for a wedding: it should be a classy affair, and kitschy things can often take it from chic to trashy at light speed. However, when it comes to customized cake toppers, I can't help but smile.

Don't get me wrong, the old "ball and chain" example shown above isn't exactly the makings of a unique wedding memory. It's a tired and tacky joke in my opinion, and actually pretty negative if you ask me. But a cake topper that really represents the couple is just too sweet for words.

    Observe:

Recently I read an article about a couple who met on Mafia Wars, and are claiming to be the first couple to officially fall in love and wed thanks to the social networking Facebook ap.

The cake above was the wedding cake they chose for their special day. In addition to just finding it really awesome to look at, it's a sweet testament to how they met, and so what if it's a little less than classy? If it weren't for the game, they wouldn't be there, so why not include it in their ceremony?

And then there's these two cutie pies. After seeing the mafia one, I went in search of one for book nerds like a friend of mine and his girl (who met in a library). How precious are these two? And you can even customize the books to the ones you had the day you met! The nerd inside of me did a back flip at the sight of this tiny topper.

If my boyfriend and I were to make cake toppers like these, I'm not sure what we would use, but it really got me thinking, because these things just melt my cynical heart! Oh no... I hope I'm not coming down with the fever!

If you and your SO/fiance/spouse were to create a cake topper based on your relationship, what would it look like?
