Last night I had a dream that I ripped a tornado open with my bare hands. Thanks, subconscious, you're right: I am a bad ass.
Of course, my whole dream wasn’t just that split second (haha… split…) of tornado-rippage.
The rest of the choppy, nonsensical bits featured rampant sexual contact with not a celebrity, not an ex-boyfriend, but some random gorgeous barista. It was an extraordinarily hot dream. I swear, I woke up, and I had to change my pants.
Now, I’m not an idiot, and I know that having a sex dream about another guy is by no means cheating on my boyfriend, but it got me thinking: is my dream self trying to send me a message? Does this mean that I should be trying to get in to barista boy’s pants? Or am I just in the typical early stage of the LDR where I’m sexually frustrated 100% of the time?
What do you guys think: do sex dreams have a deeper meaning?

i read an article once that said that anyone who has a significant appearance in your dream isn't a stranger to your subconscious. i don't really know what the dream means, but i wouldn't count the man as a total stranger.
It depends on how the dream made you feel. Obviously, you felt...excited... hah but did you feel nervous as well? Did you think you were doing something wrong in your dream or did it not even occur to you that you have an s/o? How you felt in the dream is really important, it can generally tell you what it meant.
@pen54935@xanga - i read something similar! i read that if you dream about someone and see a face then you've seen that face before in real life. you just don't remember seeing it. maybe you saw them out the corner of your eye or something. weird. but...i've had sex dreams about other men before and i'm married. i was worried about it and someone told me it just means i'm human.
I've had dreams like that plenty of times, maybe not quite as explicit though. I always wake up with that relief, because usually near the end of the dream I've realized I've cheated and begin to panic and feel extreme guilt and sadness. Everytime I wake up I'm like "HOLY CRAP, thank God!" because I love my boyfriend and would never cheat on him in real life, and we plan to get married.. so.. I really don't know what the random dreams mean. I wouldn't choose to be with anybody else besides him, and we have a very fulfilling relationship. Maybe it just means nothing. I kind of wish these dreams would stop though. I'd find it WAY hotter to have the same dreams about my boyfriend. I have, but not every time.
your dream mind is extremely different from your real mind. Really, I think you are just sexually frustrated and are looking for an out. And let's face it, it's not AS exciting for your subconscious to have a sexual dream about the familiar as it is for an idealized "gorgeous barista" that you haven't had sex with before.

I have dreamt about cheating on my boyfriend a couple of times. We are in a very serious relationship and I would never cheat on him in real life but my dreams are always about the guy I liked before him. He didn't like me at the time so I moved on basically heart broken and found my boyfriend. We've been together ever since and plan to get married but I still dream about the other guy and I don't know why and it always makes me sad:(
I always wonder what my dreams mean. I occassionally (more than once though) have had a dream about the guy I was in love/lust with (not sure if it was real love; we weren't officially dating) while I have been with my current boyfriend who I am in love with. The dreams aren't really sex dreams though. In one, the guy told me he loves me...in another, I was hanging with him and his girlfriend and her baby...dreams are strange.
It really doesn't mean shit except that you're human and you think people other then your SO are attractive. I've had a few dreams about having sex with friends I thought were hot, or people I don't remember meeting but like some people said you don't make people up in your dreams. And I tell my boyfriend about those dreams, he tells me about his and it really doesn't mean anything to us. Recently I had a dream about someone I don't remember meeting and it was just making out but it felt so good. I've been in a relationship for 5 years and though I love kissing my boyfriend and our sex life is great, being with someone else sexually does cross my dreams sometimes. And honestly, it's better to have an outlet like that rather then actually going out and cheating on him.
I once had a dream where I was playing super smash bros. I hate playing video games and always have; I don't believe I have a subconscious love for gaming. Dreams are just dreams and I don't think they usually have any deeper meaning. They're just a semi-random compilation of images and thoughts. You're probably just sexually frustrated.
Go for the barista and his steam wand...you know the one he uses to...warm up your latte...
I had a sex dream with Hugh Laurie..does that mean anything? Probably no. It means nothing..and besides I have weird dreams all the time..and it doesn't mean a thing. Dreams are dreams. They help you feel better in the morning..and dreams are important to our survival. If you're curious about it, I suggest researching sleep and dream....and what importance it has. Sorry..a nerd lol
I`ve had a dream where I cheated on my bf before, it was with a random person I didn`t know and I actually felt guilty in the dream. I`m pretty sure it doesn`t mean anything though. They`re just dreams.

I actually read somewhere that having sex with a random person in your dream means you admire them for something hey have, whether that be a kick-ass job, confidence, or any other quality you could desire in yourself. It doesn't have anything to do with wanting to actually have sex with that person. That made me feel better when simultaneous on the same night, my boyfriend and I each had a sex dream about someone else, and they were people who we definitely weren't at all interested in. I think this theory is a valid one, although I don't think it could be the only reason.
the same thing happened to me once and here's what i thought it meant: what i did in the dream with the guy, i wanted to do with my husband [who was at the time still my boyfriend] so i did it and i honestly felt better and haven't had another dream like that. i'm not saying it's the same case for you, but that's why i had the dream. i was dreaming about something i wanted to do with my boyfriend, but in the dream i did it with someone else.
ugh. i've been having bad dreams lately. bf and i had been fighting, i dreamt he was sleeping with like a ton of other girls. and then in another ... it was just one. well i wasn't "certaiN" in the dream, but her name was everywhere. and i've heard it in real life, she was an old crush of his that lives nowhere near us. but still. that was unpleasant. i never even told him because it just sounds insecure. lol

I haven't had any sex dreams lately. the last few dreams were of me sitting in class with my best friend and talking. I think I just miss her. another dream was of me diving in to the water and the freefall feeling of my heart dropping to the pit of my stomach felt so real. I don't remember what I dreamt about last night. sometimes I forget
I welcome sex dreams. They're usually so much better than real life and in an exotic place that I'll never go or isn't real. It's like having the real thing(and all the emotions that go with it) but no consequences. Hooray for vivid sex dreams!

No deeper meaning. It's like when someone dreams about their partner being a jerk to them in the dream and then being pissed at them for it in real life. Most everyone will have dreams about random people at some point or another. If you have a dream about the same guy multiple nights a week for weeks at a time, then I'd say there's probably something there that your body or mind wants.

No, OP, dream cheating is normal, common, and not indicative of a problem... necessarily. Monogamy is a social construct, not a biological or instinctive one, and it's common that dreams play out biological drives.

i constantly have sex dreams about the guy i want. pretty sure they indicate that i want him. but that's just me.
