When I Got Rejected Because of My Leather Jacket
I suppose I would consider myself a "fashionista" of sorts, but then again style is subjective. However, do people take fashion too seriously, to the point where they would not consider dating someone because of it?Well, let me tell you what happened to me. I was visiting a friend at school and one of his good guys friends had been really anxious to meet me. Keep in mind he had seen pictures of me and knew very well what I looked like. Ok so let's just say the college wasn't necessarily in a cosmopolitan area, and I happened to be wearing a black leather jacket that night. Maybe some would think my inspiration was James Dean, but I thought it looked pretty awesome on me.
So I meet the dude and noticed he wasn't really talking to me. I find out later on that he wasn't feeling me because and only because of the leather jacket. EVERYONE BEWARE, IT'S LEATHER JACKETZILLA! It's not as if he were an animal rights activist and could only see slaughtered cows when he looked at me. He was for sure a meat eater.
It's not like I was sporting a zebra leotard with red velvet boots. I am aware that there are some lines that should not be crossed. But leather jackets are relatively normal, and this idiot would know that if he opened up a magazine or turned on the t.v.
You see the picture I chose for this post? Even Megan Fox wears leather, so he and anyone like him can suck it.I actually know a lot of males who HATE Lady Gaga. And it's because she looks weird. No she may not be little miss perfect Jessica Alba, but she has her own swagger. And for any guy who has a brain, that should be considered sexy. It's attractive when someone is honest with themselves and doesn't follow the herd. Do you really want just another average Joe or Jane? YAWN.
I would prefer to be single than to have to conform to what a guy wants me to be. At that point I might as well sell my soul and get plastic surgery.
As long as you're confident in what you wear, who gives a flying rat's ass? Rock it! And for those who determine who they date based on fashion alone, well sorry to say but you are ignorant.
Is it because some people are scared of anyone outside the norm, or are some people just really THAT shallow? Have any of you had an experience where clothes have interfered? (No I'm not talking about sex..)

I've actually been dying to get a leather jacket! I think it makes a girl look more edgy but still cute. And you should definitely be able to wear exactly what you want without being judged. I mean there aren't that many guys that can honestly say they know about style! :)
I actually have a leather jacket that my husband helped pick out for me! I love everything about it. I love how edgy and daring it makes me look and it definitely gives me a confident boost when I have it on because it makes me look and feel badass. I wouldn't waste my time on him. He's probably a square anyways.
Personally, I've always been against whatever was the latest fashion. In fact, I would refuse to buy anything that the majority of girls in my school were wearing. Because of that I was -- as you can probably imagine -- the joke of the class. Good or bad, I never gave a shit what I wore. I would come to school some days still in my pajama pants and a mario bros tshirt. It was high school! Who cares? Once you graduate, what you wore during those 4 years doesn't matter. Still, I had boyfriends and guys who crushed on me back then because I was different. Those who dig it, I dig them right back. I don't go for Mr. polo shirt, perfectly placed hair, 6 pack abs and loafers. Give me the guy in khaki shorts, pacman shoes and obvioulsy aged band tshirt. Different is HOT!
I'm with you though. I mean, seriously! Rejected because of a leather jacket? Dude's a douche then anyway. Do what you want, wear what you want! Period.
The guy obviously has no taste, leather jackets are hot.
And agreed, if he puts a leather jacket above your personality or even an attractive face, defs not worth it.

BUT Idon't like Lady GaGa not because she's different, but that it's so totally obvious that she's intentionally off the wall for the attention. To me she's just as much of a sellout as anybody else.
Everyone has their preferences. If he rejected you for what you wear, he doesn't deserve you.
it should matter what you are wearing... for the most part, i like a woman who knows how to take off her clothes...so the point is, its not whats on the outside, but whats underneath!
I'm sure you can think of some things a guy could wear that would turn you away. If he doesn't like you for the leather jacket, then he's not right for you. I admit that it's a pretty crappy reason to reject someone, and I suspect that there's probably more to it.
But if that truly is the only reason, he is most likely being shallow and judgmental, and do you really want someone like that anyway?
Uh he's an idiot lol. Who thinks leather jackets are "bad" these days? It's like popular...and if feminine cut enough as many are out there in the stores...it's hot.
i cannot describe how much i love this post, i bought MY leather jacket from forever 21 last season & cannot WAIT to wear it this winter, fuck what guys say, i think they're hot.
If someone judges you for wearing a simple leather jacket they are a lame asshole. He needs to grow up.

some guys get freaked out by fashion, individuality- things like that. but whenever i wore my leather jacket i got compliments, maybe you overdressed and he just thought you were insecure, who knows. you'll find someone who'll like you in whatever you wear. guess something just didnt click
I wear my leather jacket and combat boots proudly. My boyfriend doesn't particularly agree with most of my wardrobe but he still loves me anyways. :D Don't worry, you'll find someone who'll accept you with and without the leather jacket. ;)
maybe he is not attracted to your body, not just the jacket but he just said it was because of the leather jacket as a fake excuse. if he was more specific like he prefers a certain size boobs or something about your body, then he'd seem even more shallow.

My hair is bright pink, my nose is pierced, and I wear combat boots all the time. The irony is that most of the clean-cuts do want in my pants--they just don't want to be seen with me. I clash with everything.
