Why I'm Not Such a Jealous Guy
Let's get this unanimous fact out of the way: my girl is a hot number. She is also a magnetic person. Knowing this, I don't really get jealous, when people hit on my girlfriend.
I remember when one man said he wanted to get naked with my girl. I went, "I'll pay you 100 eprops to get naked for her!" It's not only in good fun, but its going to be common, when you have such a girl. Not to mention, that she makes you want to get naked, too.
Guys and girls, face it. He or she might be taken, but nothing is going to take away the fact that what makes her or him so attractive is going to keep some people from noticing. So, while a person hits on them, the best thing you can do is either smile, or laugh.
It's charming to me because everything they say is probably true. They can say that she is a "real nice woman", she is "the sexiest thing in the room", she's "wearing the hell out of her clothes", she "has a nice ass", etc. On the inside, it makes you feel good, because you just happened to be the one who has the nice, sexy girl with a cute ass who can wear the hell out of her clothes. The only time I would ever step in and get a bit tense is if the guy does not seem to process the fact that the girl is taken.
Because let's face it. When some dudes want a good-looking girl, they want to take her home, and some don't even have the courtesy of asking if the girl has a boyfriend. People are going to vibe with each other and all. But if the moment persists, I'd probably swang on a brotha, if he can't process the idea that the girl is mine. You know? (My girlfriend already did that once on her own. Let's face it. I owe her a scrap with the next guy.)
But you know me. I acknowledge that the girls is good, and people are going to talk about that to every girl. It's a good thing, because women deserve to be complimented anyway they can. They deserve, even by their own man, to be let known how valuable or beautiful they are. It makes things a lot easier for them, and you doing it for your men lets her know that you appreciate her.
So, if one is getting jealous of the girl, it just sounds like either the girl is way too much for him, he has trust issues to work out, or he clearly doesn't appreciate the girl the way she needs to be. Or the girl is capable of straying herself. Haha! But to me, not being jealous is not being selfish. It is not being so possessive to the point where it feels like you are cutting her off from society. It's also knowing that whether you have her or not, you are more realistic about her position in the relationship, especially seeing as how there is no guarantee that this girl is ever going to be in your clutches forever. It's also trusting that as many compliments as she gains, she would come right back to you.

it is great that u dont get jealous, but sometimes if u dont get jealous.. the girl might think u dont care about her as much><
so, it is good to have appropriate amount of jealousy in u:)
HAHA I LOVELOVELOVE this post. My most recent ex was so crazy that other guys were barely allowed to talk to me before he flipped shit on them much less let them give me compliments. I hated it everyone needs a nice compliment every once in a while nothing would have come from anything they said it just would have brightened my day a bit. (...but I cant say much I got pretty jealous too unitl I realized how ridiculous itwas when he did it) but now I'm seeing a guy and were actually open to the point to where anything goes and while we both have kissed other people neither of us have done anything more than kiss and flirt since we started being together. It was much more tempting to cheat on my possessive ex then it is to even really see another guy the way I see my current SO.
aww, it looks like you have a great balance. You know when to step in when a guy crosses the line, but at the same time, you know a girl wants to be admired. Good for you!
Hmm... I like my guy being a bit jealous. It makes me feel wanted and protected.
He's not crazy jealous, just a little. Like when we go to parties or something together and there will be other men there who don't know me, he tells me what to wear. Okay, not WHAT to wear, more like what NOT to wear.
Usually our conversations go like this:
Him: "Don't dress like you do when you go out. Don't wear the red dress, the black dress, or the shirts with the sticks in them."
Me: "Why not? Everyone else will be dressed like that."
Him: "Because."
Me: "Because WHY?"
Him: "Because NO. I don't want anyone else looking at you like that."
Then I laugh and walk away to go dig out my conservative clothing.
He's cute. I don't mind it. I like it.
It's fine to be a tad jealous but also have that balance as you do..But you do have to know when other guys cross the line...and you seem like you do, so that's all good =). But remember, showing a bit of jealously actually shows how much you care for the girl.
But aren't you sweet?
Girls like it when their partner gets jealous. It's one of those things they don't admit but like. Can't say all do but I know most do.
my ex is a very jealous person. i can't even say that george clooney is good looking or i heart george clooney, we'd get into a fight and i would have to apologize and apologize for what i said because i made him feel bad by doing that. he hates it, doesn't want to hear it and doesn't tolerate it.
at work, there's this particular guy who's kinda creepy and he's always stopping me in the hallway if i pass by him to talk to me and i told my ex this once, he would always bring him up if i talk about work or if i tell him that i wore a skirt to work, he'd ask me if the creepy guy saw me.
it's definitely true what @Nominatim@xanga - said. of course girls like it because it's the attention that we like. i sometimes thought it was so cute that my ex would get jealous at me liking someone on the big screen too.
Well said, good sir.
Sometimes, I get a little bit jealous. But with good cause. But mostly, I'm like you.
Nicely said! I agree with the way you think, but I also agree with many of the people, who commented on this post. Some girls do want the guys to show jealousy and I'm sure some guys like their girls to be a little jealous sometimes too because it shows that they care. This said, I'm sure people are different and you must know what your SO is like and what works well for both of you. My SO is a bit jealous too and at first I took it as he didn't trust me, but I later realized that he's just protective. So I find it kind of cute ^.^ It just depends on your personal perspective.
i like this.. i wish more people would realize if she hasn't left you for another person yet shes not going to *sigh* if only my cousins bf would get that yet hes tearing the relationship from the inside out because of some irrational fear cased in jealously
love this post, you are awesome. i wish more people (myself included) could be as laid back as you
this is a wonderful post. :)
What an awesome way to put that. Way to go. :)
When people hit on my girlfriend while we were dating, I got defensive because I felt that it was a lack of respect towards me, like they thought we wouldn't last anyway or that I wasn't as good as they were. I never really thought she would ever cheat on me, I just felt a need to command respect from the interested parties.
i completely agree with you. i like the way you see it, i see it pretty much the same way. =]
Wow. THE most intelligent post on Datingish I've read in YEARS.
I LOVE it when other women compliment or hit on my man! It's such a buzz to know you're with somebody so desirable :D
Dude, we're in exactly identical circumstances. My girl gets hit on out in public about once a week or more whether I'm there or not. Or I'll catch guys checking her out. We like joking about it. Plus, everything you said is pretty true, I like hearing that other guys think my girl is attractive, it boosts both of our self-esteems.
Glad to hear that you are like that. My bf is also like this (aka not the jealous type) and I assume that these are the same reasons.
I agree with you completely. I mean, she's with you for a reason, right?
Also, one thing that helped me get over my jealousy/worrying was that I realized that my SO could cheat on me at any time. Unless I somehow keep perfect tabs on her 24/7, it could be going on. So it really takes too much energy to worry about it. The best thing I can do is to just assume she's not cheating unless I see glaring signs.
Also a reason I'm starting to think open relationships might make more sense. Seems like it would get rid of the jealousy factor.
That's rad. I can't STAND it when a guy is jealous. It literally completely turns me off. I'm not his to protect or own or whatever, and if he acts like I am, the relationship might as well be over, because that's not a battle I'm willing to fight.
Why would someone get jealous over their SO being complimented? That's retarded. Girls can say my boyfriend is hot all they want, how would that make me jealous? I would only get jealous if he was complimenting them back........
AHH I NEED TO DATE SOMEONE LIKE YOUUUU.
