  • My Top 5 Favorite Bad Boys

Thankfully, I am not the type of girl that goes for the real-life asshole, but I will admit that I have a thing for unreliable, non-committal, promiscuous, tortured, and emotionally-unavailable players when it comes to television.  Here are my top five:

    1. Damon Salvatore (The Vampire Diaries)

It's just not fair that they picked Ian Somerhalder.  He's a huge jackass and he definitely gets around (especially the older woman population), but his 150 yr old love for Katherine is twisted, yet kind of sweet.  And he's charming.  *sigh*  The leather jacket rebel look definitely works for him too.

    2. Alex Karev (Grey's Anatomy)

For most of the first two seasons (with occasional flareup later on) Alex Karev was the epitome of the cocky, self-absorbed, apathetic Bad Boy.  Unfortunately, he had to go and fall for Izzie, showing us how damaged life has made him.  Who wouldn't want to fix this one?  Can we really blame him for all the bluster?  Underneath it all, he's proven that he's got a heart of gold.

    3. Eric Northman (True Blood)

Okay, I obviously have a thing for asshole vampires in leather.  That bully and kill for no good reason.  Eric Northman really has no redeeming qualities in my opinion, except for an inexplicable desire to protect (or possess?) Sookie and a great loyalty to his creator, Godric.  Besides that, he's selfish, cruel, and so very...bad.  And I've got a thing for tall, blonde Viking-like men.

    4. Tim Riggins (Friday Night Lights)

As all of you probably know by now, I am obsessed with Tim Riggins.  He messes up...a lot.  He never seems to live up to anyone's expectations, and he never makes the right choices, but he never fails to do the right thing in the end.  Despite how utterly frustrating he can be at times, you can't help but admire him in the end.

    5. I saved the best for last: Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl)

He's calculating, manipulative, heartless, amoral, and oh.so.cold.  And really, the perfect fit for Blair.  We all hate him for what he did (Jack? Jenny???!), but we secretly wish him happiness in the end!  Chuck Bass is the brass ring of bad boys.

Honorable Mentions: Spike, Mr. Big, Ryan Atwood, Mark Sloan, and a shout out to my anime-loving friends: Sesshomaru!!!  I've been binging on the final act of Inuyasha (also a good bad boy, but not as bad as his older brother :p) and I've forgotten how my heart races when he comes on (this is so nerdy...I really apologize >.<).  I don't know whether it's the fact that he's prettier than a girl, more powerful than...basically everything, or the fact that he NEVER SMILES...but I want him.  So what if he's power-thirsty and has major daddy issues.  At least he likes children.  And he turns into a giant dog.  AWWWW.  Okay.  I'm done.

Well, what do you think?  Do you have any to add?
