  • Datingish Speaks: On Flirting Styles

What? Not interested? Maybe I'm in need of a new flirting technique...

I am a huge flirt. I can't help it, sometimes I don't even know I'm doing it (which seems to be my excuse for everything, re: sexsomnia.) So it's hard for me to pin-point exactly what my style is. But looking back on my history, I can tell there is definitely a pattern. First, I play coy, but with a hint of "bedroom eyes." Make them think, "who is this elusive lady? And why is she looking at me like a sex object, but she won't she engage me?" Then, after I've reeled them in with my mystery, I use my wit (some may call it a rapist wit.) Sarcastic remarks, that aren't mean or at the guy's expense, but biting nonetheless. Maybe some verbal sparring so they know I have a brain as well. So now they're thinking, "First she was a shy girl, now she's got jokes? Is there more? I must find out!"

At least, that's what I attempt to do.... but I figured I should research some of my peers' techniques as well. Just in case mine backfires....

Fiona (FionaMay): I like to challenge guys.  I'll subtly compete with them - who's smarter, who's funnier, etc (nothing loud though).  No one picks up on competition like a male.  Then I let them "win", and completely lay off.  This may be surprising - but it has, thus far, been absolutely fail-proof.

Alexa (TheCatinTheCradle): For an introvert, I become extremely forward. I make sexy eyes, suggestive and raunchy jokes, and show them I am a force to be reckoned with-- it separates the boys from the men pretty fast.

Madeleine (stateofhart): I tend to be a somewhat flirtatious, bubbly person by nature, but when I'm in it to win it, so to speak, I definitely use my sense of humor to my advantage. Usually, I'll pair a couple well placed jokes with the classic "hey, you're kinda cute .. yeah I'm looking at you" eyes, and see what kind of reaction I get. If I'm lucky enough to get a phone number, then texting cute, usually witty messages is the next step.

Michelle (MichelleNose): I would have to say a little give and tug, though not physically. I'll give the guy a little, laughing or giggling at something he says, making him feel a teeny bit important and then retreat just when he thinks he's got me, leaving him wanting more of what I have to say or what I think, or just... me.

    What is your flirting style?
