(715): and honestly a story about how you met your future husband that DOESN'T include the words "creeped him on facebook" is really not a story worth sharing
I saw this on
Texts From Last Night (TFLN) this morning. After chuckling and passing it onto some friends (I'm a huge Facebook creep and I knew they'd see the humor in it), I got to thinking about the stories people tell about how they met their significant other. My last few boyfriends and I have not had a story at all, I mean there's only so many ways you can spin "I got drunk and made out with him" or "we slept together after the bar and then started talking afterward". I really started to think that maybe, no one has the "boy next door" story anymore.
On further thought however, I realized that the person I'm currently slightly involved with and I have quite the story.. when asked by friends, I always just keep it short and to the point "we dated in grade ten and reconnected on Facebook and have started hanging out together". But how we met the first time is actually the kind of story I'd love to hear at a wedding.
I had five friends visiting on a band exchange when I was in grade nine. We had an hour of time to kill and we decided to give them a quick tour of my town in my mom's mini van. As we were finishing up the tour, we approached the home where my mom worked. She proceeded to tell the friends that this was where she worked and was discussing my lack of a junior high prom date, when I noticed a boy I'd gone to elementary school with mowing his lawn. I was hyper and being silly, as fourteen-year-olds do and exclaimed "Wow, he has gotten hot, I wonder what he's doing next Wednesday night". My mother stopped the van, right there and asked him if he'd take me to my prom!! He accepted and we dated for the next year :)
Do you have a story with your significant other about how you met that you love to share? Or do you wish you had a story more exciting than meeting at the bar?

I hope I would meet my future husband at the library.
In the 6th grade I was forced to sit next to my future husband. Let's just say that we didn't get along back then. haha
I dated my next door neighbor [he's 2 years older than me], but I broke up with him because I couldn't see marrying him or having kids with him. Sometimes when I'm bored (or drunk) I wish that things had been different, because it would have been a great story to tell the kids. Plus he's in the army and I'm going to be a nurse one day, so we could have done that black and white picture that you see everywhere, which I think is romantic.
I've also dated my other neighbors too. I have tons of romantic "how we met" stories - yeah, I've been around the block a few times ...
Actually, my parents lived down the street from each other, which is how they met, so she's kind of "the girl next door."
Aww that's so cute. Well, I met my current boyfriend when he was in 3rd grade (he's my best friend's brother). We both started liking each other and did for quite a while, but neither of us knew. We remained friends throughout middle school and then in high school I found out that he had liked me, but I was with someone else, also by this time his sister wasn't as much my best friend as she used to be, she was still my friend, we just weren't as close. Another girl and I started becoming best friends, and the guy she was dating was my ex-best friend's brother's best friend (did you get all that?) So some how we always ended up staying in touch with one another via the people around us. I was still with the same guy but he was a total jackass to me and we were on the verge of breaking up. One day I was shopping for swimsuits with my new best friend and she texted her boyfriend who happened to be hanging out with my ex-best friend's brother. Well, my ex-best friend's brother saw the text message and sent me a text that said, "I want a picture!" (talking about one of me in a swimsuit). It was maybe a few months after that when I broke up with my boyfriend and my ex-best friend's brother and I started dating and well.. the rest is history.
i don't, but i have a funny story...
i was at my ex's place and his grandfather was explaining to me how one of my ex's cousins (who lives in the midwest) had just gotten married to a beautiful hawaiian woman... when my ex asked his grandfather how his cousin and his new wife met, he shrugged and said, "Who knows? He's no looker. Musta been the Internet."
That's adorable. =]
He's not my future husband, but I met my current boyfriend in 9th grade, at band camp. I was going to go to our homecoming with him, but when he saw me and another guy get close he said go with him instead. Me and that other guy ended up dating until last December (2 and a half years). But a few months later in Wildwood, NJ with the band, me and my curent b/f got close, and started dating the day we came back.
I wish I had an interesting story about any of my exes or my current boyfriend, but I've tended to either meet my boyfriends through friends or the internet...yeah, my life is kinda sad >.<
My roommate and her boyfriend met in a cute way, though. We always went to this beer distributor in town because she thought the guy that worked behind the counter was really hot. One day he was complaining that he thought he had something in his eye, so my roomie seized the opportunity and took his face in her hands to check his eye out. He ended up hanging out with us a few days later on Halloween and they've been dating ever since.
I met my boyfriend in ninth grade. We were each in choir (separate classes) and had auditioned into the same after school choir. I saw him across the room before rehearsal and though, "No idea who he is but I MUST know him."
Turns out we had mutual friends. They introduced us. Once. Twice. THREE TIMES before he remembered me. His friends told him I liked him but we still didn't really know each other. It was like pulling teeth to get the kid to speak.
We came back from winter break and I confessed my feelings. We were still strangers, but he liked me too. We were dating a month later, and three years and three months later, we're about to graduate together. We still sing together too, in and out of choir. :)
@giggle_face@xanga - Awh, that's cute! Funny that it always seems to be the ones you couldn't stand at one point in your life.
@goldenGermanflowers@xanga - I love the old fashioned romance story too.
@HollowTendencies@xanga - LOVE that! It's cute that you've known each other so long.
@Escapists@xanga - I met one of my first boyfriends at band camp! The jokes that came with that got old quick :P
@AnonymousBlonde@xanga - Your friend sounds bold, I wish I could be that bold.. most of my stories were like yours though besides this one! Just through friends and uninteresting things like that.
@walkintotheseaaa@xanga - Awh, I love the "sing together in and out of choir"
MYSPACE! xD lol now together for 10 months wednesday
@pure_dasani@xanga - Lol tell me which library and I might be able to help D:
@shunny@xanga - haha Do you have any suggestions? because I don't see any guys that appeal to me at my local library. haha
My story is kind of confusing on how I met my ex lol
My best friend met a girl online, they had been talking for a few months and decided it was time that they meet. Only problem was she lived over an hour away and my best friend does not drive and the girl was not allowed to have people stay at her place. So they continued talking and making plans and came to the conclusion that she would ask her best friend if the two of them could crash at his place, he agreed and the plans were set. My best friend being the shy person he is asked me if I would tag along with him, i agreed and added the girl to msn so I did not feel awkward only knowing my best friend, we got along real well and she told her best friend that someone else would be coming along, he said it was cool and agreed that instead of us having to take a greyhound he would come pick us up.
So the night came and my best friends girl and her friend picked us up. Immediately when I saw her friend i thought "damn he is hot" he kinda had the whole "Edward Cullen" mysterious thing going on. we started talking on the way back to his place and seemed to really hit it off. That night when we got back to the town they lived in we decided to go out for a few drinks at a bar. Me and the guy were still getting along great, talking and laughing and then it happened he kissed me, we continued kissing all night and talking. We had to share a bed that night (not that I was complaining) and the next morning when he got up (he had to work) he kissed me on the forehead to wake me up and looked me straight in the eyes and said "I think you are beautiful, will you be my girlfriend?" I of course said yes!
it was kinda awesome how it worked out, my best friend met his girl fell in love, and i met his girls best friend and fell in love. we were together for over 8 months.
Well, we're only going out right now but I'd certainly LIKE to marry my boyfriend. :)
I met him at my best friend's birthday party... he threw my current crush out of a chair so he could sit in it (it was really more of a "boys will be boys" situation than violence) and actually happened to like my best friend.
So they dated for about nine months and I fell for him about halfway through.
She broke up with him once during that time and I helped him get through it, and so we became best friends and it snowballed.... which completely sucked because we were both romantically involved.
But they didn't really like each other for the last few months and I had broken up with my boyfriend quite a while back so after my best friends broke up, he and I gravitated immediately to one another. Apparently we'd both liked one another for months... he wanted to give his girlfriend a chance though, thinking he was wrong about not liking her anymore, and I wanted them to just be happy. So we got stuck there for a while.
And so we've been going out now for a year and a half. :D
It's not the coolest story but I like it because it's one of the few "dating your best friend's ex" stories that had no repercussions. Well, the two of them don't get along, but I don't think they would get along whether I existed or not.
The first boyfriend was my friend's friend. My second boyfriend was a friend. My third boyfriend was a friend also who I met from my first boyfriend. And my recent ex, well, we met randomly in the lounge, and somehow made out(1 kiss) and some flirting and we started dating...

Good story BTW! Lovely meeting and I like how your mom intervened for your benefit.
I met my boyfriend in Spanish while we were working on a group project. Not very exciting but oh well.
Though I find it funny when I see phone numbers on bathroom stalls. What if you get married, and say how you met? "I saw this number on a bathroom stall while I was taking a shit, and decided to write it down and give them a call." That's hot stuff right there.
I met my ex (W) in fifth grade. He was "going out" with my best friend at the time, and I hated him because she talked about him all the time. They "broke up" though when she moved away.
Four years later in 9th grade, I entered into W's friend group through a mutual friend, whom I had an enormous crush on. W and I also had health together, and for whatever reason, we started talking to each other about our respective crushes (his crush happened to be my THEN best friend. Small world, eh?) A year later, after endlessly trying to help each other with our unrequited loves, we discovered we liked EACH OTHER as well. So, middle of 10th grade, we ended up dating for almost a year. Now we're not together, of course, but W and I are still very close friends. I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
PS - He lived a block away the entire time. I didn't know this until 10th grade. Go figure.
We met in ninth grade. He was friends with a kid I'd known forever, but he was homeschooled before high school so nobody knew him. I think we hung out, like, twice and then he asked me out. I said yes and barely knew him and we just went from there. It's been 4 years!!!!!!! It's amazing, highschool stuff like this usually never works out but we got so lucky.
I met him at a cookout with a bunch of people I barely knew. My friend dragged me to it because I had been depressed for a while due to harassment from my ex and losing my job. I knew around 3 people there (including my friend) so it was awkward at first...but when I met him, it was like the whole world came together. Just celebrated 9 months and happy to say that we're together forever...there isn't anyone else in the world I could dream of wanting more, and he would say the same.
lets see i met my future husband at school 12th grade we were jus hi nd bye friends and one day he was buying a honey bun and tellin his homeboy to hit him up later and i said why does everyone have ur number but me... lol very straight to the point well after graduation we really started dating in the rest is history lol
My ex and I were rivals in regional math competitions from fourth grade on through middle school. It used to be the highlight of our lives to beat each other (we were always vying for 1st), until high school when we started competing in the same team and going to the same classes. As a joke, I asked him out and then we actually dated for 1.5 years.
Worst relationship I ever had tho :/
Beginnings do not factor much into how relationships pan out, in my opinion.
