So I recently found a new abode to live in. I posted an ad on Craigslist and was contacted by someone who had a room for rent. After a few emails and texts I went and looked at the place. The guy was cool, the place was super cute and within my means. So then after a few more texts we decided we'd be roommates and I'd be put on the lease.
So naturally, we wanted to get to know one another. I'd rather not live with a stranger, I like to know my roommates. We decided to see a movie. He picked me up, and it was like hot-damn! This guy is super cute!
I didn't really notice when I met him the first time but this time was just so ridiculously attractive. We watched the movie and he dropped me off. I then later receive a text from him. It goes "blah blah blah, but the only issue I have with us being roommates is that your smoking hot!"
Wha?! Moi? Of course this put me in a great mood, but left me wondering...
Can you be attracted to a potential roommate and live with them? Do you continue to flirt and not let attraction get in the way?

Oh, this sounds tricky! I have no experience with this sort of thing, but good luck.
Sure, why not. Bright side: You'll never half a walk of shame longer than the bed to the kitchen.
It could end up being very complicated, but I don't think that is a huge worry since you're only renting a room (i assume the lease is for a year?). If there is a problem, you can just not renew the lease. And if there is a problem even sooner, you can always put an ad on craigslist for someone to take over your lease for you. Basically, if it doesn't work, you wouldn't be forced to stick it out.
How fun! Haha but it can get messy.
oh god life is going to suck if you guys ever get together and split, even if it's just a casual relationship. Just saying from personal experience. - I dated the guy I lived next to in a residence hall.
Complicated indeed. Like everyone said, it could get potentially messy if things doesn't work out especially if you're signing a lease. Don't get me wrong, it would be fun to to mess around with the roommate especially if you're saying he's hot so just weigh out your pros and cons of whether or not you can handle it if things go sour.
i saw a movie about this very thing, recently. Someone Like You, it was called. V cute film.
Um I'd say hold off on making a move, and even crushing if you can.Finish a lease with him first. It will be fun to have a good looking platonic roommate. You will know him MUCH better in 6 months, and even have the scoop on his housekeeping skills.Sounds fun. I'm envious.Ohhh, what a sticky situation. Have fun while it lasts...? Haha I honestly don't know what to say to this since I wouldn't normally advise two people who JUST started dating to move in together (which is pretty much what is happening in your case). But who knows! It may actually work out in both your favor. :)
sounds like you're going to become fuck buddies
This situation has amazing potential in both the good and bad direction.
Harmless flirting and a couple make out sessions never hurt anyone.
I think this could work, but you gotta play the game- if you both decide to immediately be a couple, then after a year, who knows what may have happened? If you continue flirting, teasing and whatnot for a while, you can see more of his character and then you can decide to get together or not.
Plus, if you build the sexual tension between you for a long while, then when you do get together it'll be explosive! ;)I'd go for it anyway, but I'd make them wait. You only live once, eh?You should find another place to live but continue to date him. Do you really want to live with "the guy that you've been dating a few weeks?" no, you don't. And if you two break up?
Well....I'd just leave it to fate. There are even arguments for and against pursuing each other, so just live your life normally and try not to think of the situation, and if it consumes you, then you know what you should do, since you know he thinks you're cute, and you think he's cute.
the sex might be good if that happens but you might find out his living habits and be disgusted that he is actually a slob that doesn't shower often or watches pornos in the middle of the night on high volume or leaves expired milk in the fridge for months and still drinks it without a second thought and expects you to be the maid to wash all of the dishes
Hahahahahaha, that sounds like an incredibly awesome amount of tension. Fun!
i hope this isn't a selfish request, but would you mind making this a lovelyish post series? I would like to see how this goes along :D
datingish**
yes but it's extremely dangerous and not sure if it's gonna be worth the hassle
DUDE this sounds like an awesome plot for a movie. You went looking for a roommate and somehow ended up on a movie date!
But I would advise against dating him. What happens if like -- the relationship turns out bad? Then you're just going to have to move out and find a new place to avoid issues!
hell ya its a bonus if your roomate is hot right ? lol jk jk
um.... it would get crazily confusing thats all. I would either date him, or move in the place.. one or the other. Things get complicated. I mean what if you go on another date and find out he's not the one you want to be with ? right ?
Though I'm not sure if I fully endorse this statement, because others have pointed out very good arguments as to the potential message of the situation, but I feel that someone needs to say this: Girl, DO IT! Go forth and GET SOME! You dig a hot dude and he is digging you too! :D
PS. The "get some" was more of a pep talk/confidence booster thing, and not at all a "get into his pants as fast as possible" thing. Sometimes things come out totally the wrong way on the internet :P
