It's 4:11 a.m. and I'm still awake.
Why do all men snore?
I'm sure this is a gross stereotyping...but to me, it seems to be the absolute norm. My Dad snores, all my uncles snore, my grandfathers snore, and both my brothers snore. Now...it seems like I have been passed on the family curse.
My SO and I are new at the sleeping in the same bed thing, and after the first night, which I spent staring at the ceiling and listening to his train engine/fog horn, I was really hoping I could find some sort of solution. So, I tried my iPod. I have nice headphones that block out noise pretty well. I'd just put on some Skypiper and fall asleep...right? Wrong. I can still hear through the headphones...no matter how loud the music is up. Sigh. So for tonight at least, its Tylenol pm and the couch for me.
Ladies, any help? Is there anything I can do to make my night a little more peaceful without being banished to the couch? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I want to contend with this, because I do not snore.
But I want to know why all fat chicks snore.
No snoring here thank god. Maybe try a sinus rinse?
Most guys do snore, the trick is just to get used to it really. Unless its a really intense snore, then I vote earplugs and/or making them reposition so they aren't snoring. Personally, trying to sleep around the one guy I know who doesn't snore is weird now lol.
Probably a sinus issue, I would think. Get those strips, or whatever... I don't know. I see stuff on infomercials all the time for snoring problems, ha.
I snore when I'm REALLY tired or sick with a cold or flu, whatever. Does your man get very little sleep frequently, or something?
they have that mouth guard thing that supposedly helps. but not all guys snore. My best friend falls asleep a lot (actual sleep) and I've never heard him snore.
My dad doesn't snore. Its my mom who snores loud as heck.
@SlackerSociety@xanga - "Overweight men and women are more likely to snore. The reason? Fat. Those unsightly double chins can, as we sleep, press down on our throats, causing distortions in the airways, which will lead to snoring."

Neither I nor the gay-husband snore...unless he's got a really bad cold, then he does. I probably do, too, while in a sickly state. I don't know; I'm asleep! And it takes a lot to wake him up, so he's never bothered to tell me.
(since you didn't ask guys anything) ... i wonder what it feels like to be near someone who snores, i've never met someone male or female, who snores... and the closest i hear is funny tv commercials that sound like someone clearing their nose whilst having a cold.
all men do not snore..
Haha, my boyfriend snores a little. Sometimes when I'm half asleep I nudge him to try and make him stop, otherwise I'll get used to it, or he'll move some way and stop. He says he only does it when he's on his back, but I don't know.
Maybe try and get him to sleep in a certain position? Otherwise they have some thing to put in your mouth to stop the snoring. It like, slides your jaw forward or something? to try and stop that palate to stop vibrating. Somethin like that lol.
Also, I've known more women than men who snore. Just throwin' that out there.
change his position. if you get him on his side, he's more likely to stop. if he's doing it anyway, tilt his chin up. if that doesn't help, smother him.
@PeriwinkleAdonis@xanga - Okay. Thanks. I didn't want to look like i was trollling.
There's a couple things. Try the nasal strips or the mouth guards that a specially made for snoring for your SO. Those might help.
easy...kill him.
HMMMmmmm from what i know thou my bf mommy
she said she sleep early...than her husband that what she does and it work for her like almost 30 years :)My dad snores, and I think I only snore on the nights where I am plain exhausted (very rare).
Thankfully, I have yet to date anyone that snores. But I do veer towards skinny guys, so maybe it's the non-skinny guys that snore?
I tend to snore a bit because I sleep on my back! It's quite embarrassing. I dont really care infront my girlfriends, but I would just die if I did infront of a guy! I also sleep talk ahahah
My roommate snores. AHHHHHHHHHHHH she makes it so hard to sleep at night.
My mom snores louder than my dad, hah.
I snore because it annoys people like you. :D
Well, actually it's just because my tongue falls back into my mouth when I breathe, causing me to need to inhale more and make the disturbing snore noises... But it's funny to give the first reason.
I seriously just say learn to like it, make him learn to stop, or find some middle ground like earplugs or sleeping back-to-back, it helps a little.
I know two boys who I have shared a bed with many a time, and neither of them snore.
It could be a medical issue. Maybe they should see a doctor.
I think if you tell him to sleep on either of his sides, its supposed to make snoring better, at least it did with my ex boyfriend, whenever he was tired he would SNORE like hell! But once i told him to sleep on his right side he would stop, for a while that is, in order for me to sleep and not hear him anymore =/ good luck hope i helped
My boyfriend has sleep apnea and stops breathing 650+ times a night without his CPAP machine. It was the worst case that the sleep study technicians had ever seen. I can sleep next to him if he wears it, but otherwise, I have to sleep on the couch downstairs and shut the bedroom door. He snores so loudly that I can hear it throughout the apartment if I don't. I can't even sleep in the bedroom next to ours because I can still hear him through the walls with both doors closed. What bothers me more is the sudden silence when he stops breathing for 30-60 seconds at a time. It scares me. I've gotten used to sleeping on the couch, though, and will probably have to continue doing so until he gets his new breathing mask in. Hopefully, this one will work better than the previous model.
I snore a little bit, too, but it's never been a problem for either of us.
