• What To Do On A Rainy Day When Single

  
  

  I'm sure that most of you have heard the song "Banana Pancakes" by Jack Johnson. If you have not, I highly recommend you look it up and listen. It's a terrific song. The basic gist is that it's raining outside and a couple spends their day inside, cuddled up together. It's adorable, but it also got me thinking. I'm single (sort of) and this morning I woke up to the pouring rain, sad that I wouldn't get to spend the day inside cuddling and giggling with my guy. There would be no shared banana pancakes and no reason to stay inside. Instead of being happy and taking it slow on these days, I end up being lonely and mopey. So I decided to make a list of things to do for all us single ladies out there who feel so lonely on cuddly days like this (and don't have class or work or anything else important to do).
  

  1) Go to the mall. Rainy days are GREAT for going to the mall. Call up a friend or a bunch of friends and carpool to the mall. Try on clothes, get a soft pretzel, and spend the day safe and warm at Forever 21 or Macy's.

  2) Treat yourself to a spa day. Now, I don't mean treat yourself to a $150 treatment. I mean, whip out the bath salts, candles, and nail polish, and treat yourself. Play some good music and just relax. Rainy days are great for this.

  3) Watch an action-packed comedy. Pick a nice flick like "Pineapple Express" and just curl up on the couch and enjoy. It's better than watching a chick flick because it won't make you any more lonely and you probably will not cry... at least not out of sadness.

  4) Have a bunch of friends over and whip out the boardgames! Yes, I said boardgames. You forgot about those, huh? Candyland, Clue, Monopoly, Battleship... any or all of those will occupy you and you will be surprised how much fun you'll fun. Cuddle buddy who?

  5) Have a cooking party. Have some buddies over for a big lunch. You can all pitch in. Maybe one person can make the sandwiches, another person can make the salad, and then you can chip in on decorating the cupcakes. It's good because there will be so many people around that it will be impossible to be lonely. Plus, it will be super delicious.

  Sometimes I think people forget that it is possible to have fun while single. I know that I sometimes forget that there are things I can do to cheer myself up without having a man to hold me. It's important to remember that stuff like this really helps make lonely days better.
