I hear this a lot. "If you love me, you'll do this..." or "Show me how much you love me by doing this..."
Once upon a time, I had a crazy girl friend who threw her cell phone down the train tracks and demand that her boyfriend to retrieve it if he REALLY LOVES her. If it were me, I would have thrown my phone down there too and ask her the same thing. Seriously though, NO...I won't jump down a train track to retrieve your cell phone that you threw down then demand I get it. Instead, I would use my phone and call Bellevue so they can pick your crazy ass up.
Enough already. What's with the insanity little insecure boy or girl? Is it just drama? The upper hand? The feeling of power over someone or are you just plain and simply insane?
So say it with me:
NO, I won't do anal to prove how much I love you.
NO, I won't shoot someone to prove how much I love you.
NO, I won't tattoo your face across my back to show you how much I love you.
NO, I won't ditch all my friends and become a hermit to show you how much I love you.
NO, I won't swallow every time or any time JUST to prove how much I love you.
NO, NO, NO. Just NO.
They love you. Either take their word for it or go apply for a reality TV show and be the next hot mess that is Jessica Simpson.
Have you ever heard the phrase "If you love me, you'll do this...." and did you?

My mother sues that fucking phrase ALL the goddamn time! On me, her husband, my brother, and pretty much EVERYONE!
I HATE IT SO MUCH!
I would only ever say that as a joke, never seriously.
that girl is treating her bf like a dog if she demands he fetch her phone like that. it proves that she is disrespectful, very insecure and psycho. I hate ultimatums. I rarely ever choose the answer that he wants me to choose to please him. I hate feeling threatened and having to constantly prove my love out of his control freak behavior disguised as love. agreed with you on the just say no to extreme demands that he guilt trips me into agreeing with.
If I have do something outrageous/painful/illegal to prove I love you, then it's not love. That's insecurity if you need some physical proof constantly. It's not healthy for EITHER person.
"If you love me, you'll have sex with me."
Obviously he just wanted to get laid . . . Obviously he didn't!
I've never had it used on me in seriousness. Just in playful jokes.
swallow it all, or you're getting another black eye tonight! :D
You forgot "No, I will not start a lame Facebook group and try to collect a couple million people to prove I love you." :]
I say that to my hubby all the time. Never seriously, though.
i think it's kinda funny only because i always have a comeback ready.
Say NO to anal...you got your motto right there. I want to see you marching round with placards.

NO, I will NOT get off WORLD OF WARCRAFT to show you how much I love you.
I haven't heard it used since middle school, and even then it didn't go over well.
Simon Cowell is so handsome.
In all seriousness, I find it annoying that about 99% of the women commenting here are saying they'd never lower themselves to the standard of their guy's fake love, but somehow in real life, I see more than 50% of women doing stupid shit like this.
Girls, it's nice to say that you'd never do this, but how about you keep that promise?
@dork936@xanga - Lawl
I hate when people do this. It's so fucking ridiculous. I hate when people give into it too and do what they are told. Have some balls! Even if you're a woman, still have some balls and stand up to it. Love shouldn't need to be proven with grand gestures, because it should be known just from the little things.
@Mangonese@xanga - Wow, I love your comment.
@PMFoutofwater - fuck the placards, I'm making T-shirts!
@Mangonese@xanga - Kudos for the honest response!
I think the phrase is stupid.
If they're doing something or not doing something that you want them to do, and if that thing is legitimate, talk to them.But.. "If you love me, you'll..."? Dumb.
I havent used it in my current relationship, hence, its been working out pretty well.
@k_Skrap_moua@xanga - Amen XD hahaha
I've heard it, but not addressed to me. And I'll never say that.
I think that a person saying "If you love me, you'll do this and this and such and such," kinda implies that maybe they don't love the other person. That's totally selfish, dramatic and stupid!
This phrase is ridiculous.
All it is, is a cheap GUILT TRIP, to get someone to do something that they really SHOULDN'T have to do.
It's only for use on things my boyfriend wants that aren't necessary (Like anal, yes! And I refuse, and it irritates me that I DO feel guilty, but I still refuse, I just wish I could get rid of the pesky guilty feeling because I KNOW I shouldn't feel guilty, HE should for sinking that low!)
yeah this phraise was just used on me and relationship ,I was told need prove I love him Hmmmm
id say no
My ex never had to say it, his attitude was "If you love me, you'll do *insert thing here*" every time he wanted something from me.
After kinky things involving pantyhose happened, I stopped complying and started growing some and telling him he was basically a douche for pulling that card.
He was such a gross, assinine jerkwad.
@k_Skrap_moua@xanga - Hence why I go for people who are nerds. No I will not call you, I need to finish this quest first. Bwahaha :3
