  • Cougars and Silver Foxes: Is Age Just a Number?

Confession: I have never dated anyone who's my age or younger. Before, with my own childish superiority complex, I thought I was mature for my age and could never imagine myself with someone my age or younger.

Thus, I always went for the guys who were at least 2 or 3 years older. I just felt like I could connect with them more. The attractiveness of someone who's older, wiser (maybe, because some people don't seem to grow up), and more developed always reeled me in.

Nowadays, I can definitely consider dating someone my age. Maybe even someone who's younger than I am (yay for the road to cougarism)! Maybe all of that growing and maturation has finally caught up.

However, I will always lift an eyebrow at an older man. Maybe not so much for someone who is over 35 (yet). Something about the air that they carry will always intrigue me. I know a couple of friends who date people who are 6+ years older than they are. I also have family friends who are married to a spouse 10 years their senior.

Personally, I can't see myself with a silver fox. I look like I'm 16 and the man could get arrested under false pretenses.

Is age really nothing but a number? Do you prefer younger or older men/women? Would you ever date a cougar or silver fox?
