Apparently the typical American has sex about 66 times a year according to the National Opinion Research Center – but if you’re a young married couple, you enjoy it about 16 times more a year. Does anybody else find this number…low?
Now I’m not a nymphomaniac, but I definitely know I get freaky more than 66 times a year. Doesn’t everyone else?
After digesting this crazy information I decided to investigate a bit more on the subject of guess what? SEX. There were a few things I came across that were somewhat interesting… Let’s call them “Sex-tistics”
- The average “romp in the hay” lasts about 7.3 minutes, apparently for several men it’s a struggle to last longer
- About 40 million little spermy come out of you-know-what during every ejaculation
- You only burn about 38 calories per 30 minutes of sex… unless you’re a freak in the sheets, then who knows!
- You’re man “going” before you effects 24 to 27 percent of all men
- Apparently 6 to 7 inches is NORMAL – but we all have our opinions here I’m sure
- 48 percent of women fake orgasms – CRAZY!
After hearing all that random information, do you feel that 66 times is a reasonable number? Too high, too low?

Hehehe.. nah, I'm kidding. It depends, for me.. on the status of my love life.
I'm currently single again, so... I'm not going to run out and try to lay random people to keep up with the national average, eventually someone might realize it or I'd catch something and then I'd be screwed (in the sucky way).

But then again.. I'm a college student. Have to relieve stress somehow, right? haha
That's more than once a week. Nothing wrong with that.
My average is probably between 52 and 78. At my best my average was 175 or more. But that doesn't really matter I suppose. It's just a number. : )

I think it depends on the couple, how old they are, how busy they are, how far apart (distance wise) and many more. So if the survey is base on certain types or sets of couples, it can't apply to everyone. 66 sounds low for a new couple who's probably porking 10 times a day but for a couple who's been together for a few years, 66 may be the right amount.
NORC's research should be pretty reliable. I would go back to the source and check who is included in the sample and how the sample was constructed, as well as how those figures were calculated. (They are probably estimates based on self-reported frequency per time period since I doubt that the respondents were actually asked to count every time they had sex in a year.)
What's with all the unnecessary euphemisms?
Well, apart from the times when my husband and I aren't in the same country, I'd say our sex stats are much higher than that.

Hm, only 66 times? It's only March but I think I've already lost count.
I don't count how many times we do it, but with a few exceptions, we've been doing it twice a week for two years, so to me, 66 / year seems a bit too low.
I'd've thought typical would've been around five to six times that number.

the married statistic is shocking... but the average of 66 seems quite normal. think of all the people who get 0 action. they really pull the average down. so if you get it on everyday... 5 losers who dont ever get it, or once or twice a year... the statistic is complete

I must not be a typical american and i've never heard of anyone,even young couples bangin THAT much but who knows. I'm out of touch with the world. I've had sex thrice..All when i was 19..I'm 21 now..I'm an old bag. Noone wants these dusty goodies

@they_call_me_steffyjean@xanga - well idk..the people i chill with arent all about that so we dont really talk about it. we're not dying to get to it anytime soon. my friend tells me about her and her bf when they do it but the conversation is something like: so me and bryan were havin sex and he starts arguing with me right in the middle and tells me he doesnt even wanna do it anymore cause we're agruing..' I mean that doesnt really seem like something i wanna jump back into doing. I live in ms/la..I see sex 24/7 but i mean..i never really put into my mind that people fuck contantly

Does this mean 70+% of woman orgasm first?!!66 isn't low since they are including single people as well, that really brings the average down
66 times is like what once every 5 days? the number seems so low, but when you compare it to how often it is, it's not bad.
I think I'm around 60... so the number seems high for me....
