Ok, maybe MySpace isn't exactly like eHarmony - actually it isn't like eHarmony at all - but it was free. In my defense I was looking at the classified portion to adopt a dog, not to fall in love.
I won’t mention any names, but my SO had quite an interesting "bio" (it sounds so juvenile now that I look back on it - how this all happened) and despite the fact he was trying to find a home for a dog he had rescued, I couldn't help but come back to the ad because HE was trying to give it a home. Yes the dog was cute, but so was he.
The infamous "add to friends" button was clicked and our relationship was off. We ended up meeting up (to see the dog of course), however taking the dog to the park turned into lunch, and dinner, and 5 months later - moving in. He started out trying to give away the dog and now he's stuck with me - and still has the pooch.
Dating online is not exactly how I expected meeting the man of my dreams - and on MySpace nonetheless, but it happened - and you know the best part of it - I didn't have to pay a dime. To be quite honest I'm not sure I would have even considered using an online dating service now that I think about it, much less pay for it - so MySpace ended up doing the trick for me, I can't whole-heartedly recommend it as the next best place to find a guy besides the bar (or the library as my mother once suggested), but for those of you who can't afford things like eHarmony or match.com, maybe it’s worth a shot?
Have you ever tried online dating? Met somebody you didn't know through MySpace? How did it work out? Are you still with them! I'd like to know I'm not the only one who has had a successful online dating experience!

I accidentally met my boyfriend online (been together 3 years this June!). I think the trick is actually to not be looking for someone. It can happen anywhere, anytime, in anyway, for any reason. It's the 21st century and everyone is online, so meeting friends, boyfriends and girlfriends on the interwebs is going to happen. I don't recommend going on a friend or relationship hunt online, but if it happens it happens.
That's so cute! ^_^
As long as you're willing to sort through creepers and people that will constantly message you even if you give them a firm, but polite, rejection, Okcupid.com is decent and free when it comes to online dating. I've met a couple of nice people there, including my current boyfriend.
I live with a man that I met on Myspace when I was 14 and he was 19. We're 17 and 22 now (going on 18 and 23 in a few months, our birthdays are days apart) but yeah. I'm as happy as I could ever be and we have a wonderful relationship. I moved across two states to be with him. Internet dating and meeting people online really has a bad rap that it doesn't deserve.
I have had some CARCRASH online dates...that's why I started my blog. This is one of the worst: http://plentymorefishoutofwater.blogspot.com/2009/09/pasty-kiss.html
I'm signed up on a... different... kind of website. It's actually meant for people who are just looking for casual relationships (sex, honestly, lol). Interestingly enough though, I met my male equivalent on there. O_o It's odd how much alike we are. If I wasn't so strongly against dating, he'd be my boyfriend most likely. Hah. Never know where you'll find people these days.
My myspace so happens to be a creep magnet.
I stopped using it months ago for this reason, haha.
I'm not against meeting people on myspace, it just wouldn't work for me.
Your story was awfully cute though. (:
...i have... Gaveup everything here in Oregon to move to South Dakota for a girl that brokeup with me, who said she thought it was cool when some guy told her "I'd gaveup everything to be with you.", i did'nt realize till after i moved that it was that guy who said it and not me, so, when i did give everthing to move closer to her she say "Your a stalker." ...fuck me, i'm tierd of proving love to anyone... ...so i Nike life... !!!JUST FUCKING DO IT!!! ...no motive... Love and if no one likes it they can fuckoff and kill themselves or just die cause their are those who will accept it.
Fuck Face-Fuck and My-Fuck ...Xanga Xanga Xanga... This is where the real people are ...unless your all in my head?... ...fuck...
Met my boyfriend online and we've been together in real life for nearly two years now.
ugh i met my ex when myspace first came out... ewhhhhhhhh i regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we were only together for 17 months... thank god... any longer i woulda committed suicide... i hate myspace anyways... a friend from the past signed me up without my knowledge... and i ended up getting sucked into it for awhile... now i'm just over it... i only have xanga now since that's the shit i started out with in the first place...
I've accidentally met several of the guys I dated through myspace.. and the one Im with now .. its kinda funny cause I seen him at walmart.. and he goes I think I know her from somewhere.. two weeks later he adds me on myspace, we realize that we had seen eachother in walmart.. and then we meet up at the library and go to other places to hang out and stuff like that.. and we are still together
Usually it's just a bunch of whales on myspace these days...
I did the online dating thing. I cheated my way around match.com (meaning I didn't pay, but found a way around it) and met my husband there. So, while I also met a bunch of creepers, it worked out in the end.
And for the record: MySpace sucks. Ick.

I met the girl I'm dating now over Xanga. I wasn't looking for her and she wasn't looking for me, it just kind of happened. It's interesting how things work out.
Wait... why did he want to get rid of the dog????
Oh.. and congrats, I don't think online dating works in all cases, but good for you.
I met my fiance here on Xanga, and after a year of online dating, I moved here, and we're getting married in November. Internet dating is fun!
@phantomblogger30@xanga - He already had his own golden and he couldn't afford to care for two of them. So I had planned on just adopting the dog, but then I fell in love <3. My dog, the match maker!
1st girl i met online lied about her weight, so much so she would have been unable to have children...
2nd girl... Did not have an official divorce.
3rd girl... Gorgeous, but with three kids she failed to mention.
The Pattern: Lies. Went back to the traditional method, much better results.
I met my fiance through facebook. Two years running:)!!!!
I met a guy through some chick on a forum about Twilight, we've been talking on and off now for over a year and it can be emotionally exhausting, but I find my feelings for him are genuine and the connection we made was like that of any "normal' relationship.
Met my fiance on Myspace...still together after 3+ years. And it all had to do with an e-mail over Dungeons and Dragons. Who knew? We talked by phone, made a date to meet, and our first offical date was a holiday. Best true story, ever.
I've never met a significant other on Myspace or anything like that, but I have made the BEST friends through xanga. I met my best friend a few years ago and we wrote long, loong letters to each other and developed a beautiful friendship. I've visited her twice in her home state and am planning a third trip. There wasn't any awkwardness or anything - it was just like we'd always been best friends. For this reason, I think it's okay to try online dating. You never know if you'll find a connection with someone. In this day and age, internet dating shouldn't be so taboo.
XD
I met the one on myspace! I never even expected to meet up with someone I met on there, but we did, after talking for a while.
He has always given me vibes that somehow he was different. And that hunch was very right. I love him to pieces... He's amazing.
Well I'm in a situation where it could potentionally turn into SOMETHING. He added me (on myspace) a few weeks back. I'm 18, and he's 21. He came over to my house (outisde of course) just to "break the ice" last week, and just last night we decided to hang out at the mall. I'm hoping it turns into something. He just got out of a year relationship that ended in her cheating on him (sluts) but he's open. He's really soft spoken, but so sweet. We'll see how things go :]]
As for you, I'm very happy you found someone to be happy with! I really don't think meeting someone online is a bad thing, or even a "weird" thing. I mean afterall, they are still REAL people behind that monitor.
