  • Condom Size: Where Everybody is Above Average

For most products, small size is a marketing virtue, like for cell phones or thong underwear. But if advertising is about creating consumer desire, what male aspires to an extra-small size condom?

But there is a problem with misfits. Ill-fitting condoms are more likely to break and slip, resulting in difficulty reaching orgasm (for both partners) and increased likelihood of removal before sex is over. All this adds up to an increased risk of both pregnancy and sexually-transmitted infections.

Condoms come in a dizzying array of choices: ribbed, studded, lubricated, scented, flavored, extra thin, textured, colored, with/without spermicide, even glow in the dark. But other than the “Magnum” designation, it is hard to find any reliable size labels, particularly in retail stores. A wider size selection is available online, but condoms tend to be unplanned, impulsive purchases less suited to the internet. “TheyFit Condoms offers seventy different sizes, none of which are labeled small, but in order to get that custom fit, you’ll have to measure (and it’s more about girth than length).

So what do you guys do? How does your partner have confidence that your condom fits correctly and provides adequate protection?
