...You're Wearing THAT?!
Ok, admit it. No matter how great your sweetie is--really listens, cracks you up, sets you off in bed--there are those certain items in his or her closet that you would love to accidentally-on-purpose take a blow torch to.
If I look back in my own dating life, there have been oh so many of these items. In the interest of saving a year of your lives, I'll share three:
I used to date a very short (I'm thinking 5'4" at most) football player, who kind of resembles Mighty Mouse because he has ginormous muscles and no neck. As I've seen many athletes do (even sans uniform), too often he would wear long athletic shorts to the knee with high socks (also to the knee) with Addidas flip flops. So therefore, it made his already short legs look...well...like tree stumps. Not so sexy. Lol.
A basketball player that I casually dated ALWAYS wore our university's basketball apparel--the T-shirts, the shorts, the sweatshirts, the sweatpants, the hats--ALL. THE. TIME. We were only talking for a few weeks, and within that time pretty much just hung out at our apartments, so we never actually went out on a date; but I still wonder whether he would've thought he could get away with a "GO RAMS!" hoodie at a nice restaurant.
The guy I'm talking to now (who, NO, is not on a sports team, smartie pants--lol) has amazing style. Not "maybe-he's-actually-gay" style, but he just knows how to put things together and dresses to impress, which I love because I'm the same way. But the one thing he often wears which I CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT stand, are Yankee fitted hats with THE PRICE TAG still on underneath the rim. He says he's "doing his own thing," and I love creativity and individuality...but come on, really?? Man...he's lucky he's cute! Lol

Now of course, appearance is certainly not everything; but hey, if you're gonna be seeing the person all the time, it wouldn't hurt to have something good to look at right? Ladies, I know there have been guys you've dated who have worn some pretty scary things (overly ripped and stained clothing anyone?); and fellas, from what I've heard, you all hate when your girl wears Ugg boots...but what else?
What fashion faux pas of the opposite sex drives you crazy??

i love my boyfriend, and he normally doesn't dress badly, but he has these message tees that i hate. he also tends to wear things that are too big for him, but he lost weight/is losing weight and doesn't have money to spend on new clothes at the moment, so it doesn't really irritate me.
camo. I hate camo.
My boyfriend is actually more stylish than I am. xD
I like comfy clothes, he likes really nice clothes.
In terms of the opposite sex, I just HATE HATE HATE when the boys wear their pants really low. It disgusts me.
My last GF used to wear this one-shoulder top that made her look like a wrestler. And one day she came home with bright red streaks in her hair. Looked terrible. And the clothes she used to buy ME for Christmas. God, I feel sick just thinking about it.

The SO's shirts all have some kind of adorable pun on them, I love his closet.
Thankfully, my boyfriend donated all of his old clothing to Planet Aid. His mom used to buy him clothes all the time, and they do not share the same taste. A lot of the stuff he had kept around since high school. It needed to go. She still buys him lots of clothes for Christmas and his birthday, but he returns about 90% of them now for something that actually fits well and flatters him. He has a great sense of fashion when he bothers to shop for himself.
@Cest_LaxVie@xanga - I agree 100%. I'm the lazy dresser of the relationship, and he's a designer, so...go figure?
And there's nothing sexy about butt cracks, so cover it up. As we tell our students, "crack kills! pull 'em up!"
plaid shorts ...i hate my guys plaid shorts. he has two pairs of the ugliest shorts I've ever seen and he thinks they can can be worn everywhere as long as it above 75 outside
My friend, Breanna, and I used to talk about this stuff all the time. BUT, we have very opposing opinions. She's very particular about how her SO dresses, while I don't give a crap. I can see where you're coming from - you want him to look nice for you and look nice with you or blah blah blah. But, I really don't mind too much.
As long as he's not wearing something highly inappropriate or SUPER ugly, I don't care. Let him wear his lame t-shirt. I'm not going to make a guy change his style, or lack there of, for my sake. Maybe when I get married I'll have a little more say on what my hubby wears.... but as far as boyfriend's go, I don't mind.
When they dont try to match. I mean I'm not color exact or anything but walking around looking like you just rolled in your clothes & got dressed in the dark is just sloppy. That goes for either sex. I hate when guys complain about that when you dont even nag about it. Since when is looking your best bad?
@OverBeingUnder521@xanga - I dont mind plaid as long as they dont mix plaid prints. LOL I see guys do that all the time.
the only thing i really hate about my guys clothes is how HUGE some of his jeans are. like hes normal height and skinny so its sort of understandable. but he has jeans that fit well and jeans that look like he lost 100 pounds.
i honestly can't complain about anything my boyfriend has in his closet. there's never been a time where he's put something on and i've thought, "oh wow. i don't want to be seen in public with that," lol.
Ill fitting clothes. I understand if you want to have a couple of bigger hoodies and maybe a pair of huge sweatpants but that should be about it.
@soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga - I hate that too. My on-and-off SO has lost about 30 lbs since I met him, but hasn't bothered to update his wardrobe any. I've tried to help out, buying him new shirts and a belt for various holidays, but he hasn't seemed to catch on.
I have bad fashion. LOL well I have none. Maybe this is why I haven't dated in so long
Not really!
i've never really had trouble with any guy's fashion when i was dating them. i guess i have always liked a well dress man because i'm really into looking nice in clothes and presentation.
I never dated before, but a potential used to wear collared dress shirts all the time. Sometimes I can smell the sweat off him, because he hasn't washed it for days or something.
At first, it was quite appealing, but then gradually I noticed how often he wore it.
I LOVE fashion and clothes and style, etc. But my fiance was just a KS boy who wore whatever was on sale at the mall the day all of his clothes were dirty. But getting married and being in love and all we do have a lot in common and one of those things was his desire to dress a little bit sharper. I always give him advice and cool gifts that add to look he is getting, but he also got a subscription to GQ and we love shopping together (when we actually have the money). I can honestly say he really appreciates when I give him tips and he didn't even flip out the day I went through his closet and tossed all of the brightly colored cotton tees with AEROPOSTALE emblazoned across the front as loudly and high school-y as possible.
Now my only complaint is that he has enough confidence is his own style now that he rejects some of the clothes that I think are awesome. The student doesn't think they need the master anymore. lol
my gf doesn't like my flare jeans.
@maniac_rose@xanga - Agree! The Camo jackets with the camo hats need to go.
There are girls on campus who in cold weather will wear a hoodie, with short shorts and Ugg boots. Um, that's never acceptable.
I hate it when he wears clothes period ;)
My SO has this awful, old, and stained Mario t-shirt that he can't part with.
And his jeans are usually tighter, which I can't stand, but apparently he has to have them to wear on his motorcycle.Lol...funny post. Eh, I've never had a bf before so I can't really answer your question. But I have pretty bad fashion sense myself, so if I did have a bf, I don't think I'd notice if he wore hideous looking clothes. :P
lol the bf wears almost exclusively hollister and a&f stuff. not creative, but not ugly either. :P
