  • Thoughts on Love Bites

I love nibbling gently, (or sometimes not so gently) biting my boyfriend when we fool around. I love it when he does it to me. I know exactly where I like to give & receive them, too. I'm squirming in my seat right now as I'm thinking about it.

As you can tell, I enjoy hickeys a great deal. However, whenever I notice hickeys on myself, I'm not sure how to handle them. Some people say you should try to get rid of it or cover it, but I don't think that's necessary (this is probably due to my laziness). Some people I've talked to about it see it as a way to sort of "claim" someone, or make it known that they've been hooking up with someone. I don't really care to advertise my recent sexual escapades on my body, 'cause I mean, not everyone wants to know about it -- so that has nothing to with why I love hickeys. But, I just don't seem to care enough to do anything about them.

What are your thoughts on receiving and giving hickeys? How do you deal with them when you find them in places that are easily visible to others? What are your thoughts when you see hickeys on other people?

Hickey's are fun when they're in places only you can see. Then it's like a little "Oh hello. Yeah that was goood... -remembers fondly-"

I do love nibbling and getting nibbled. Tho my SO doesn't enjoy it much. He can be sensitive. lol

While I personally don't care about love marks that are visible... my thing is people WILL see them you know? And they will think what they like and if they are bitter... it definately won't be positive. Some people find it trashy or tacky.

My husband has the softest lips ever and I can never resist biting the shit out of his bottom lip when I kiss him. lol

Concerning hickeys, Im personally not fond of them in places where everyone can see, simply because there is always going to be that one person thats going to make a smartass comment like.."Oooh I know what you were doing last night."

I don't have a problem with one or two at all. Makes me smile actually to see one on me or someone else. But I saw a woman with probably 7 all on her neck and it was kind of disgusting looking. Unfortunately, my husband cares a LOT about what others think, so he won't let me give him one. Silly.

    My thoughts? "He/she got some."

For me, I don't mind hickeys as long as they are not visible outside of clothing.

I got them from my man once when he was accidentally a little rougher than usual... but at least they weren't out on display for the world to see!  I bite sometimes but never in a place that shows... wouldn't want him to have to explain what are those marks at work!

I think a lot of people see visible hickeys as being a bit trashy, especially if they're big and just... BAM, HICKEY, LOOK AT ME I HAD SEX LAST NIGHT EVERYBODY.  Umm okay, nobody cares, except that one chick who secretly thinks that you're a trashy whore now.  High five.

Be subtle.  It doesn't help any to put everything out there for people... it's private.
Not that there is anything wrong with them.  Just... keep it to yourselves.

i like them, but they're better in the winter when you can cover them up for work. i currently have teethmarks in my back ^^

i have lots of hair that covers most of my neck though, so it's usually not that big of an issue.

I don't think it's very cool to see a big ass hickey on a girl or a guy's neck. I had a huge perfect lip shaped one on my neck right before a high school track meet. Usually my hair can cover it since it was on the side of my neck but for meets, I had to tie my hair up. I got a lot of dirty looks and a guy on my team made me rub his girlfriend's lipgloss tube on my neck to try and make it less dark. hahaha! My boyfriend now doesn't like to give me hickeys either and doesn't like to get them. But we both nibble and bite, just hard enough to get our blood boiled up ;)

I used to get them all of the time, and give them. When I was younger. Now I don't suck on the neck I just bite. I still got a hickey just from being bit REALLY hard once. It was awesome.

uhh.....I love everything that feels good  I have a double standard when it comes to seeing hickeys on other people. if it is on a girl, it is trashy. if it is on a hot guy, then, wow, that's hot!

  • thelittlesthings@xanga

I give them to my boyfriend most of the time, but on places where it cant be seen with clothes on.
I cant get them or esle my parents will kill me.

But I do love it when its on the neck, but not OMG you got some kind just small little ones.

  • happyobligations@xanga

So, so tacky. Leave them to the participants of Jerry Springer.

I looooove getting my neck sucked on and bitten and literally torn to shit... just not the evidence of it later on. Having a hickey is like telling everyone, "Hey, I got some last night and I'm not ashamed of it." Only problem is, I'm 19 and I still live with my parents. Not to mention that going into work with a hickey is a nightmare. You don't want to give off the wrong impression. What I do for particularly bad hickeys: take an old toothbrush (or new, but preferrably old so that the bristles are a bit stale) and get some ice from the freezer. Put the ice in a paper towel and hold it on wherever your hickey is. Hold it there for as long as you can stand. After that, take the toothbrush and scrape the hickey as hard as you're able to. It hurts really bad, but this solution is only for the desperate (like if you have a job interview to go to or a family reunion or something). Just keep repeating those steps and you'll notice that the hickey is a lot less visible than before.

Hickeys are a result of broken blood vessels; it's a bruise. Since it swells up, it restricts more blood from flowing to the area and therefore your body can't repair the damage. The only way to make it less noticeable (not disappear completely, because that just takes time) is to soothe the swelling and spread blood it. The ice helps the swelling; the toothbrush spreads the blood out. It's not a comfortable experience, but when you've got no other option you can always turn to that.

Jeez, I know too much about this.

  • goodbye__dinah@xanga

Ignore that "it" I put after "spread blood," I don't know why I even put that there.

  • American_woman_USA@xanga

I think love bites rock...I'm just saying lol.

  • CombinedEffort@xanga

I didn't know anyone over 14 actually gave hickeys.

  • hazey_chique@xanga

I find hickeys cute if only you and your partner can see it. I think the fact that it is hidden is just fun. I don't like seeing it on myself or on other people's neck. It's just plain odd. (bitter?) Nah...

  • soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga

ugh, i've had a burn on my neck from a curling iron all week and everyone keeps asking me if it's a hickey. >:(

i think if you're putting hickeys out there for everyone to see, that's pretty trashy.

i heard rubbing mayonnaise on them gets rid of them. a girl on my track team told me if you put a hot wash cloth on a hickey for a little while, then scrub it really hard with a new toothbrush, that breaks up the blood and gets it flowing to other places. but i don't get hickeys, so i don't know.

  • disorderedpersonality@xanga

I don't really worry about them, but my ex used to freak out if I left any on him. The only time I ever covered them up was when I was working with kids, just to avoid questions. Also kept most of my tattoos covered when I worked there, for the same reason.
