After watching HIMYM last night, I realized I've committed the same crime before. Guilty as charged: sharing the same toothbrush with a BF.
To my defense, that was when I was younger and didn't think ahead of packing my overnight bag. I didn't live with the guy so it's either use his toothbrush or go to work with a dirty mouth.
I think using his toothbrush was the lesser of two evils. Come on people, you have to think about what's worst here. What if I bumped into people on the train or on the elevator riding up to my office? People will expect more than a nod for hello and if you ever bump into a talker who won't shut up, you'll know what I mean. Yes, I did cringe a little hearing it said out loud but that's my reasoning for why I did it. Come to think of it, I've also borrowed deodorant and their shavers before. But since those are use externally, I guess it's not that bad but still pretty gross.
So have you and your SO ever shared a toothbrush? Is it okay to share objects used for personal hygiene with your SO or is that a strict no-no?

i mean.. it might seem disgusting.. but you kiss right?
I've never shared a toothbrush but if I HAD to, I don't think it would be that big of a deal. I'm not sure if my SO would mind tho.. humm. And I ALWAYS use my SO's deodorant or clippers.
I mean.. if you have sex with them (not a one time thing)... then doing these things can't be that bad. Right?
hah...when i read the title i thought of the lest episode of himym too. that;s just vile. i;m already bulimic, i don;t think i could put my teeth through even more stress.
If we're really desperate we share but otherwise we don't. It's kind of gross to me, probably because my immediate family used to just use any toothbrush in the house so I'm more anal about it than most!
what I don't understand is why he didn't buy his toothbrush in a value pack...it saves money and solves the problem of overnight sleep overs. me? I usually just gargle and rinse with a bit of mouth waste. chewing gum also helps.
Of course I've used his toothbrush before. We kiss, so what's the difference. Really.
"Honey, how come your deodorant smells like sweaty balls?"
"Uh.... yeah..."
I've only ever been brave enough to do it once and this was after a second date because she had electric and I'd never used it before. I never returned to manual after that. And we were together 3 and a half years.

I don't think I would ever use my SO's toothbrush, but that's just my opinion. I would kiss him, but I'm not brushing his teeth vigerously with my tongue removing bits of food that was long forgotten between them.
That's just me, though. I do totally understand not wanting bad breath, however.
i dont see why it would be gross personally. we kiss. anything he eats i dont have a problem with. so whatever.
Its not a big deal, do or don't. But me personally, my toothbrush is a mine only type of thing. I also would never use his because personally your never to sure where that mouth has been and what that toothbrush has been used for. lol
LOL NOOOO!! i wont ever let someone to use my toothbrush for sure!! I think its kinda gross haha
I don't think I ever will. If ever I don't have a toothbrush, I just put toothpaste on my finger and scrub, like in Chasing Liberty haha :D
@LauraG0929@xanga - Exactly. Its not like our mouths have never combined, and when its share a toothbrush or have fuzzy teeth all day, I'll certainly pick sharing.
Nope, never used someone else's toothbrush, but girls have used my spare brand new electric and disposable toothbrushes.
i dnt recall i think i might have done it once but found it repulsive. Id either use my finger or Id just go out and buy a toothbrush before going out where I have to be. I don't think sharing tartar is sexy. Or Id chew gum till I got to my own toothbrush.
i tend to have a few new toothbrush set aside so if that ever happened, just ask.
plus, a toothbrush doesn't even cost that much.
oh gross. >.<
:P be european and use your finger.
I used my ex-bf's toothbrush (boyfriend at the time of course). No big deal to me. I'd rather use it then walk out with stinky breath.
I've used it if I unexpectedly stay over and need a toothbrush. I find it gross not brushing my teeth before I sleep. So either I brush or I don't, and I rather brush! But I don't voluntarily share it.
no, I won't. people use their toothbrush to brush away chunks of leftovers and other particles stuck in their teeth. your toothbrush is cleaned and rinsed afterwards but the thought of sharing toothbrushes is like kissing him right after he eats a hamburger and has chunks of meat, tomatoes, lettuce, etc stuck on his teeth. that is just how I feel about that. it is like sharing razors to shave down there. it is just gross. you've kissed him and had sex with him but it isn't the same. I'm not sharing any personal hygiene things. I'm far from being a prude. I don't mind touching other things of his but it is too explicit to explain
My ex-bf and I shared toothbrushes often. No problem at all.
Disgusting!
i was busily talking away with my boyfriend the other day and i accidentally grabbed his toothbrush and started to brush my teeth but i noticed that it wasn't mine. His is blue mine is pink. I quickly took it out and was like OMG i just used ur toothbrush sorry!! he kinda gave me a cringing look. I felt gross afterwards. I work in a dental office and so it grosses me out some of the stuff i see!
YUCK. never, ever, ever, ever, ever. a toothbrush is like the one item you, personally, use to sanitize your mouth, and it's not meant to ever be shared. i don't think i could even bring myself to do it, that's how disgusting it is. i'd rather just use his toothpaste and brush with my finger; so it's not as good, but at least i'm not massaging all the crevices of my teeth with someone else's germs.
dude, it's like wiping your ass with the same toilet paper someone else used. just about as bad in my opinion.
